Today’s solocast topic is: Being Free of Numbers in All Areas of Your Life
This is a very powerful concept that if you start to really experience it, wrap your mind around it and make it part of your life, it will free you and your energy in so many ways. This has been my experience for over 10 years, when I wrote the Beauty Detox Solution, and discovered a different way of eating that was beyond calorie counting and numbers.
That was the beginning of the journey for me in tapping into more expansive energy. But that was not the end. Then you can start to realize that numbers actually make me feel small or feel lack in other areas of my life.
What I mean about being free of numbers is not giving them all of our power. It means that we don’t put our self-worth and our identity in a number. Whether it be your weight that shows up on the scale or the number of people that you manage at your company, or social media followers, number of friends, salary, whatever it is, numbers are finite. They are one way, one of looking at something, but they are not everything.
We need to go beyond food to really feel our best, which is why I’ll be discussing this with our Four Cornerstones in mind, which are food, body, emotional wellbeing and mental health and spiritual growth. Be sure to tune in to find tips to free yourself of numbers for good.

00:01 Hi Beauties and welcome back to our Monday solo cast podcast, where our topic today is Being Free of Numbers in All Areas of Your Life. This is a very, very powerful concept that if you start to really experience it and wrap your mind around it and make it part of your life, it will free you and your energy in so many ways. This has been my experience now over 10 years ago, when I wrote the beauty detox solution, and I had discovered a different way of eating that was beyond calorie, counting and numbers. That was the beginning of the journey for me in tapping into more expansive energy. But that was not the end. Then you can start to realize that, oh, numbers actually make me, um, bind me or, uh, you know, make me feel small or they make me feel lack in other areas of my life.
00:59 When I focus on them, I don’t feel as expansive and open and receptive. And this could be when you fixate on your salary and, you know, beat yourself up, that you should be making more money, or you focus on your age or your savings account, or your number of followers on YouTube or whatever it happens to be the numbers. There are, um, they can have a real impact on our connection to ourself, to our self-worth. If we’re not really, you know, deeply, deeply connected, we can start to, to put our identity in these numbers and then as they change or they shift, or if they’re not where we want them to be, or the ego wants them to be, we start to feel like we are not as good or we are lacking, or we need to, you know, step up to be better. And the truth is that, of course, we may want to improve our life situation.
02:02 I think that’s natural as humans. And if we’re putting out content and we are putting thought into things, we want people to see our stuff. And of course, you know, we want to pay attention to things like, um, speed limits and numbers in that way. But what I mean, being free of numbers is not giving them all of our power. So it means that we don’t put our self-worth and our identity in a number again, where, whether it be your weight that shows up on the scale or the number of people that you manage at your company, you know, too few, too many, or not enough or whatever it is, you know, social media followers, um, number of friends, salary, whatever it is, numbers are finite. They are one way, one of looking at something, but they are not everything. And what is everything is energy, which is pulsing and vibrating and at different levels.
03:14 So that we don’t really see or know what’s going on all the time around us. That’s why we can only hear radio waves if we tune into a certain frequency, but it doesn’t mean there’s a lot of stuff going on that we aren’t tuned into. And so numbers can be helpful and can guide us in certain directions. But as we’ll get into in today’s show, we don’t want to give them our full power. And we want to keep a balanced perspective of like knowing the numbers, but then really starting to trust more and more energy feelings in our body, the wisdom that our body gives and just the intuition that we have about, um, certain situations and, and things that go beyond numbers. And of course, food wise, as I’ve always talked about, we go beyond numbers, 500 calories from an avocado digest, very differently in your body than 500 calories from, you know, potato chips cooked in canola oil, or, you know, something like that.
04:19 It started for me, um, really in food, really taking a step back, should I say, because I was so into all these different diets and I was driving all this different stuff. And I was like obsessed with counting and tracking. And then at a certain point, I broke that when I started traveling around the world and getting different information and it was the biggest game changer at that time. And now where we are here in 2021. Now I talk about our four cornerstones of true beauty and wellness. Whereas previously I focused a lot on food. Now I see that food is important. It’s one, but we need to go beyond food to really feel our best, which is why. Now I talk about our body so much, which includes supplements, sleep, exercise, our, um, connection to the earth. And then third cornerstone is emotional wellbeing and our mental health because of that is, you know, um, giving the signals to the body.
05:26 They’re one in the same, whether it’s our hormones, our inflammation levels so much is influenced by the mind. And then our fourth, cornerstone is spiritual growth. And this is about connection to the true self, to who you really are. And spending time in meditation gives us a chance to connect to that deeper essence. And that is, I’m going to give a little spoiler here, but that is a big part of being free of numbers is to connect to your deeper essence.

Okay. Let’s keep going deeper and deeper into our show. I already started to go in a little bit prior, but talking about being free of numbers in all areas of our life. And as I mentioned earlier, we don’t want to ignore our numbers. Uh, you know, we’re not here to live in delusion and pretend that numbers aren’t there, but at the same time, we don’t want to give away our power.
08:31 We need to connect to the greater picture and the greater energy who you are is not how much you weigh, how old you are. As far as chronological age. You know, you are not how much money you have. So then you may ask, well, who am really? And when we don’t really know how to answer that question, then of course, we tend to play more on the surface and we tend to fixate on the numbers and we tend to want to maintain an identity. Our ego wants to maintain an identity. This is what the yogis teach us. And in particular, my guru Paramahansa healing. So what we want, I want to do is get to know that deeper part of us and the deeper part of us as the yogis call. It is the true self and the true self is this part of us that we can’t really put into words.
09:37 It’s the energetic core. It’s you could say, it’s your soul spirit inside of you, your essence, your, your core energy, whatever you want to call it. There’s a part of us that is really who we are. So when we mess up or we’re mean, or we’re, you know, we gained 10 pounds, like none of it that changes the essence of who we are. So when we go beyond numbers, it means that we start to connect on a different level in a different way, and we start to bypass some of these, um, you know, it’s just like, it feels so rigid when we fixate on numbers. I remember when I used to count calories and I’m a little bit embarrassed to still say this, but, you know, there’s still a little tins. There are still, you know, processing all this stuff, but, you know, I can, as I say it, I’m not, um, you know, I’m not going to hide it, but I was really, uh, you know, whether I would talk a notebook away or I’d like type it into my phone, there was always some sort of calculating going on at a meal.
Being Free of Numbers in All Areas of Your Life
10:51 And I was really tying everything back. Like, instead of asking my body, does this food, is this what I need to nourish myself? Or is this what feels good to me right now? My decisions were based on those numbers. So for me, the journey, this whole journey, um, into these cornerstones, into my next book, which I am so excited about. Um, this week I’ve been working on the interior design, it comes out in January 25th, but we will start pre-sales in October.
11:57 It started physical because we go from the journey, goes from gross, dense matter into subtler and subtler internal, internal, and down into this core self. So for me, it started with what do I eat food? You know, we can pick up and touch. What does my body look like? You know, all of the obsession on the outside and naturally numbers. So the calculating the looking in the mirror, the, you know, mental evaluations beyond, you know, sort of tied to the numbers, but also beyond that too. And then what happens is, um, then it was, you know, the beauty detox solution came along and it was, oh, how can I, um, influence outer health and, you know, the health of my hair and my skin and my energy extra, you know, Alex, how I’m showing up in the world from the inside. So how do I utilize my diet to freedom free up beauty energy?
12:50 How do I food combine and pair my foods? So I’m using up less energy and digestion, right? So it was going deeper inside, but it was still a measurement of, um, you know, again, physicality, we, there’s nothing wrong with that because I still eat and, you know, live in a way where I do care about how I look and I think most, all of us still care about how we look or not, you know, monk sitting on the top of the Himalayas that are completely free of the world and its value evaluations. But, um, now the journey, you know, then I started going beyond that into like, well, you know, what’s next, what’s beyond this. Um, and what’s beyond this as we keep going deeper into ourselves. So we keep connecting to the true self, this essence and this formlessness through our meditation practice. And here’s the ironic part. And I’m going to get re you know, very practical here in a minute. Um, I’m being a little bit philosophical right now, but I’m going to get real concrete in just a minute here. Um, thank you for listening to my philosophy on this, because I think this is a really big one to share.
14:45 So the ironic part is that when we go beyond numbers, things tend to work out better. Anyways, that has been my, and I’ve seen that with many different clients that I started to wean off numbers and intense sugar, protein calorie counting, and so on. So what I mean by that is when we lessen our focus, rigidity starts to melt down. And it means it keeps falling out.
What it means to go beyond numbers
15:23 So what I mean by that is when we go beyond numbers, things tend to work out better anyways. So what I mean by that is, let’s say, you know, my experience was that when I, when I stopped focusing so much on all these rigid numbers, um, I just started to relax and my body started to relax. And I started to be go to that higher level of intelligence of energy intelligence and thinking about digestion and proper food combining and eating fruit on an empty stomach and simplifying meals and having more water in between meals. So as not to dilute the digestive enzymes, and I started to see that we could play with the energy and work with the energy in a way, in a very powerful way. That was more powerful than what I had experienced being tied in with the numbers.
16:20 And so everything just worked out and I can honestly say to this day, I don’t count. And it’s much easier for me to maintain my wage so much easier than I did back then back in college. And right after college, I just remember how debilitatingly, um, complicated it was and how much energy it took. But now, you know, we can always attach to numbers. That’s one example with food, but the number of, you know, you may obsess over your, your salary or, you know, um, how much, what you should be doing at a certain point in your life measure by numbers, what’s in your savings account. And the more you focus on that, the more you start to feel stress. And then the stress starts to impact your body. Maybe you get more insomnia, your hormones get out of whack. You find it more difficult to lose weight.
17:15 You feel more sluggish. Your energy goes down, you exercise less, you start to make poor food choices. And it all comes from the root. Is this like small thinking and beating yourself up and all the, you know, influence and suing inflammation, quarter cortisol, surges, so on and so forth. So it doesn’t help to obsess over numbers. Again, we want to generally know what’s going on, but the deeper we go in and get into the obsessive part, we’re giving the numbers, our power, and then the start to control us. And we find everything to be harder and harder. And that’s definitely been my experience again, myself and many people that I have worked with.
Concrete examples of how to be free from numbers
So let’s talk about some, um, examples, some really like concrete examples of how you can start to be free of numbers in all areas of your life. And I’m talking about calories, this comply to, you know, if you have stress about social media in any way, how many friends you have, or, um, you know, followers like S uh, you know, um, if you’re on dating apps and I’ve never been on a dating app, but I imagine there’s numbers associated with that.
18:39 Like how many people are liking your profile or whatever it is. Um, also, you know, anything, financial savings accounts, salary, body, we, I mean, it just goes on and on and on. Um, these tips can apply to any area. And even as I’m saying this list, there might be one or a few areas where numbers really seem to drag you down and think about it. Is it, did you feel different before you weighed yourself? Like really differently? He could tank her day if you went up like three pounds, or if you put all this thought into a social media post, and you thought you were going to get X number of likes, and you ended up getting a very different number, you know, does it really affect your mood for a long time afterwards? Of course, there’s the natural, oh, that’s a bummer. You know, what can I learn from this?
19:27 Um, but then there’s like, oh, that affects the self-worth. And then we need to revisit because it means we need to go deeper because we’re attaching our identity to something very surface, something that is constantly changing and something that we will never find joy and peace from. So it’s like, why are we giving away our power to something like that? It’s not helping us in any way, shape or form. So let’s get right into the tips. First. This is all about being free of numbers and all areas of your life. And as I’m saying, these tips, maybe think about that one or two areas in your life. It could be financial, it could be social media, it could be body weight. It could be food obsession with calories, whatever it is, think about how this might apply to your particular life. First one reference numbers, less focus on feeling in your body and also feeling good about what you’re putting out into the world.
20:24 So I wrote down this note and what I mean by reference numbers less. So start to just notice in a conversation where you may say your age many times, um, you know, oh, now that I’m 33, well, geez. Um, you know, I should be at this higher management level by now, and now that I’m 33. Oh my gosh. I can’t believe that I’m not even married yet. Like, I feel like I’m the last person. And now that I’m, you know, I’m 33 now, so am I starting to get some aches and pains? You know, just notice how you reference the numbers or notice how much a ref, you know, let’s use the social media example. I said earlier, this can be a tough one because it can feel like, you know, you’re really putting yourself out there. There’s a vulnerability with social media. I have felt that too, but then it’s like, you’re referencing the number.
21:21 Like just the number of likes, um, impacts how you, you feel or, you know, your, your mood at that moment. And you reference it. It’s like in your mind, oh, you know, that post only got like 30 likes. I thought it was going to get like 300 or we know whatever numbers we all tell ourselves. But if you focus, um, you know, back on feeling in your body versus, you know, beating yourself up because of the weight on the scale, which can fluctuate for many reasons, including fluid muscle mass, you know, a little bit of, of, uh, salt, fluid retention, which is temporary, lots of different things, but it’s like, you know, the more we keep going back to that number, the number we weigh or how much we, how old we are, or, um, you know, how many social media followers we have or how big our salary, the more we reference it constantly, we keep giving it power.
Focus on what feels good in your body
22:23 We keep reinforcing it. So what I encourage you to do is to go beyond numbers. Number one, focus on what feels good in your body. Start to be more intuitive in your eating. Start to just feel just simply slow down. And sometimes it’s a treat and you can just start to acknowledge that, but start to notice really how you feel after you eat. Let’s say a bowl of lentils and brown rice and salad, and how you feel after you may eat fast food, right? Or just notice after like lobster ravioli or whatever. So start to just notice and let that be your guide. Let the wisdom of your body guide. You start to feel as your strength grows and you start to feel lighter. You don’t necessarily need to weigh yourself every day. Just feel the feeling and let that be more important than the number that shows up.
23:19 And then as far as, you know, salary, social media numbers, all of that, what I encourage you is to feel good about what you’re putting out into the world. Start to sit back and say, you know, this is I’m inspired to share this. This comes from my heart. This feels really good to me. I feel connected to this versus, you know, I’m putting something out because I think I’m going to get more attention or I’m going to get more likes. I feel like I have to like overshare. I, to feel like I need to show my body more, or I need to do this kind of post, or I need to try to be funny, whatever it is, just start to go beyond that and taking your power back, but just feeling good about what you’re putting out and same thing with work, you know, instead of beating yourself up that you should be at a higher position or level or whatever it is, just start to say to yourself, you know, um, I feel really good about, you know, if this is true and if it’s not like, obviously like, you know, try to align to it.
How meditation can help you go beyond the numbers
24:16 I feel really good about the effort I’m putting out in the work that I’m putting out. And, um, you know, I feel good about that and let that be your guiding force, you know, use that energy to see if, you know, it’s time to rise up or maybe to migrate to another, another place or whatever it is. But in any case, it’s really about, um, you know, what you control, which is in their state, we don’t control all the numbers. And so we don’t want to get stuck in that finiteness. We want to go beyond, we want to go into that energetic expansion. So my next tip is spend time beyond the numbers. And as I started to mention earlier, we spend time in the expansive space below the surface and below the numbers when we meditate. And this is one of the reasons that I talk about meditation so much now, because it has done so much for me personally, that I, I want to share with the whole world on a screaming from the rooftops and not just, you know, there’s a lot of different meditations out there.
25:22 There’s a lot of different, um, things that are being classes, meditation, and I would encourage you to, you know, go learn, um, something that resonates with you that feels like it’s coming from a connected place. Um, you know, something that has some, uh, lineage. So for me, you Paramatta yoga Nanda, and the Kriya yoga has always been my personal practice. And I like to, you know, do I like to talk through and guide it and guide meditations as well? So what’s inspired from yoga Nanda because you can only do his teachings through the self-realization fellowship and applying for Korea, but what’s available to everyone. Um, is the practical enlightenment meditations that I’m putting out, which are inspired by my practice with Grucci in Korea, yoga is a whole complete ancient you’ll get science. So if you feel called to go really deep, I encourage you to go in there and take the lessons and go for it.
26:26 If you’re, you know, looking for guided meditations and, you know, some philosophy and talking through these concepts and you can use it, also do both of course. Um, and this can be a nice segue in check out the Practical Enlightment Meditations, which are on the Solluna app and also on the website as well, or any meditation that you really feel connected to. And that you feel is bringing you closer to that union with the true self, with the expanded self underneath, which of course is underneath all of the numbers. There is you who is beyond any sort of identification or valuation. That’s tied to a number, which is, you know, one system that came from man and his limited mind let’s face it, man does not know everything. And so we don’t want to give all our power to something that is limited. So spend time in that meditation, meditative space, and also really marinate in the space after you meditate, just to be quiet, to reflect, to journal, to pray, whatever feels good to you because that’s really potent space.
How recentering will help you expand beyond numbers
27:36 And then the more we feel connected to that expansiveness, then we, it becomes much easier to, uh, stop giving all your power away to numbers. Okay. So my third tip here is to keep re-centering so we can know this intellectually, everything I’m talking about here, but we need to keep pulling it back in. We need to keep reminding ourselves. We may get that little jolt if we notice, oh my gosh, my bank account is, um, you know, getting, you know, it’s not where I want it to be. I’m a bad person. I should’ve stayed more, whatever it is like, you know, keep re-centering, you know, I I’m resourceful. I am unlimited in my, you know, my energy and, you know, I’ve noticed that I’m not going to let it affect my self worth, but I’m going to take these action steps to work on growing my savings account.
28:32 So that’s a way to utilize numbers as a prompt, but to still stay connected to this energy inside. So we keep re-centering right. And like noticing, oh, you know, the FOMO like, oh, this person had, um, so many more people come to their birthday party or whatever, you know, just using an example. I couldn’t think of anything else. Um, recenter, you know, anything external like that doesn’t mean anything about myself or I’m more than the number of blah, blah, blah. So when those feelings come up, it’s up to us to start creating more of that awareness and awakeness to what’s going on. Our ego is at play. Our ego is allowing us to get over attached to the numbers and balances happening. And it’s up to us to recenter when we get off. So keep noticing, you know, it’s a retraining of the mind.
29:37 Keep coming back to center over and again, as you need to, because, because the mind will start to rewire over time, but that centering process in the beginning, we all needed a little bit more handholding. There’s a little bit more attention and awareness that’s needed to really nourish that strengthening back into the center. So in the beginning, it may require a little bit more like reminding yourself on beyond numbers. I’m beyond this. Like I’m more than this, but it does get easier. The more we just bring, we breathe that light of awareness into this in the first place. And it will become easier to become more free of numbers. When again, like I said, it doesn’t mean that you’re not going to get the results that you want, but you don’t have to have this like stress and the arduous sadness and the over obsession, you can focus on feeling good in your body and let that be your guiding light to better choices.
30:33 And then you naturally slim down your digestion goes up, you naturally feel who feel good about what you’re putting out into the world. So that starts to lead to, you know, more creative ideas and, and, and feeling good and, and service. And then, you know, that grows and expands. So I’m just, I’m not saying that there is no action that needs to be taken because of course we are, we need to use our will and we do need to take action. But at the same time, we don’t have to be trapped by numbers. I’ll say it one more time. We don’t have to give them all of our power. So it’s all about balance.
Share your “numbers fast”
Okay. And so my last tip here is share with friends what you were doing, that you were doing it, quote numbers fast and see if anyone wants to do it with you. So I had, I, uh, mentioned this idea of being free of numbers too. Um, one of my friends Larysa, and you know, the next time I saw her, she was going to say something and then she just caught herself and she was like, I’m going to do it. You do it. I’m not going to talk about numbers.
31:37 And then she just kinda, like, did it less and less, at least around me, but it’s amazing because it felt like a big shift. And so it can be nice to enlist community and to share what’s going on, you’re reprogramming yourself to go beyond, into this energy, into this space where numbers don’t control your mood, and they don’t have the power to make you feel bad about yourself anymore. 32:31 So sometimes it’s nice to do that and to, you know, just watch out for each other and to be gentle with each other though, because we all know that this is a big thing that we’ve tied so much of our identity to, for me, it was also, and I didn’t mention this, but, you know, I think about it. It was, you know, my rank and the class and my GPA and all the grades part, which isn’t part of my life at all anymore. But it was huge. Part of my identity was like how smart I was and where I was in the class. So again, the more we connect beyond all of that, the more joyful we feel because we are in alignment with who we are and we need not be tied to smallness when the truth is the true self is spirit inside of you.
