Spring is officially here Beauty! As I talked about earlier this week in my most recent VLOG, Spring is an amazing time for detox! It’s time to take this succulence and go well beyond our windowsills, with my Aloe Vera Cleansing Smoothie Recipe.
Yes, this green, spiky plant may be good for scrapes, cuts, and burns but did you know it has cleansing benefits too?! 🌵
Let’s find out how…
While you may have grown an aloe vera plant at one time or another, did you know that for thousands of years it’s been used in medical practices? That’s right!
The extract of this plant is extremely potent and some of the most important components of the leaves of this plant are amino acids, beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin B, vitamin E, lignans, and other minerals and enzymes.
As for its juice, Aloe vera juice is made from the leaves of the aloe vera plant, and is made by crushing, grinding, and blending the entire leaf. Who would’ve thought the whole leaf too!
Once several filtering steps have taken place, the juice can then be consumed for its concentrated nutritional values.
Though the smell of this plant can be potent and hard to chug down (like was popular back in the day. I do not recommend this as it can be quite nasty!!), the juice is really quite mild and easy to drink.
I personally like to add it to other drinks (like in this smoothie), but if you can handle the smell and taste, then I say, go for it! You can also add aloe vera to water, with lemon, and your favorite organic sweetener for a refreshing and tastier drink than when drinking it solo.
So why has Aloe vera juice become so popular as a health supplement or dietary drink?
As you may have guessed, its standout benefit is its power to cleanse our insides. Yes, from our mouth down through our guts.
And when I talk about our guts, this really has everything to do with assimilation and digestion. Due to the high water content of aloe vera juice, it can help to keep you hydrated and stimulate healthy elimination — helping to relieve the body of excess toxins, including fats and salts — being an excellent at detoxifying the body.
Aloe vera juice can also improve your digestive process and relieve constipation by lubricating the intestines — increasing nutrient uptake and prevent discomfort from things like bloating, cramping, and flatulence, and therefore, aiding us in digestion.
In order to have the best environment for our guts, we need to have a balanced pH. Unfortunately, many people tend to have an overly acidic stomach.
The great news is, aloe vera has alkalizing properties, which makes it ideal for keeping our tummies functioning normally and maintaining a proper microflora balance. The end result — aloe vera juice helps prevent gut irritation.
So aside from all its popular topical uses, aloe vera juice really is an all-around excellent body cleanser. Removing toxic matter all the way from our stomach, kidneys, and spleen, to our bladder, liver, and colon — all of which are critical in keeping and maintaining our health, beauty, and overall well-being.
In addition, aloe is effective at more immediate relief from ailments, such as indigestion, upset stomach, and gut inflammation.
All of this combined with the cleansing and beautifying benefits from the fresh spinach, ripe banana, juicy pineapple, detoxifying green tea, and a little date for sweetness, and you have yourself a power cleanser that should be a part of your beauty meal plan, any time of the week!
Let’s feed our guts with only the best ingredients and start pulling out the ingredients!
