Namaste, everyone. Hello, welcome back. I hope you had a great weekend. Today we are going to have a solo cast on five power tips to truly upgrade your lifestyle. So coming off this book launch, we’ve been talking a lot about heart coherence. We’ve been talking a lot about emotional well -being, which is such an important part of our overall health.
Today we’re gonna be widening back into our four cornerstones: food, body, emotional wellbeing, spiritual growth, and talking about how to integrate everything. These tips I’m really inspired to share with you. These are tips that I feel are worthy of bringing to the forefront of the conversation. They are ones that I practice, ones that I have found particularly impactful in my life, ones that are accessible.
So these are tips that are not going to require you to, you know, really drastically change your schedule or to spend a bunch of money. So these are ones that I am just really excited to dive into today that will be across these four cornerstones. Before we go in, a reminder that the show notes for today will be at mysolluna.com you can also access, more information about the The Power of the Five Hearts Book, the heart align meditation, which, I’ve been talking about all these different podcasts. So the tracks are over there, which will be quite easy to access. And also all of our different offerings in wellness, including our digestion focused supplements and our glowing greens powder.
Okay, let’s dive right into the show. I’m so excited to talk about this with you here today. And to really emphasize how important this holistic lifestyle is, we are whole beings, we need to approach our wellness in a holistic way. So these will span the spectrum. The first one, starting with the physical, starting with the concrete, which is with food.
Kimberly Snyder (02:12.29)
Focus on freshness in your food instead of just numbers. Now, we hear about eating fresh all the time, but how many of us really put fresh at the very top of the food evaluation, right? This is one of the most important things that we can choose when we’re looking at what we’re going to eat, what we’re going to choose at the restaurant, what we’re going to get off the lunch menu, what we’re going to get at the food bar. Why?
Because when we choose fresh, we are choosing aliveness and vitality instead of just the very linear mind created system of numbers. Before I dive into this a little bit, I just want to say that I look sometimes at what people are eating around me, not in a judgmental way, but in a witnessing way. I like to notice what people put in their cart at the grocery store. And I sort of noticed what people are eating when I
see them at the park, know, at the food bar, whatever it is. And it’s interesting as culture has gotten more fixated on hitting protein counts and lowering carbs and following certain diets, I noticed that people are eating a lot of brown foods, packaged foods, things that don’t have a lot of color.
things that don’t have a lot of aliveness. Now we are living beings, vitality, this life force is really what we wanna nourish. And when we choose foods that have more of this living energy and we take it into our bodies, we’re able to get more of that energy and merge with that energy and allow more of that energy to flow up and through us. So freshness means
getting food that is as alive as possible. Now I was reading about some of the actual numbers, for instance, about how quickly vitamin C can degrade in fruit. And it starts to degrade as soon as the fruit is picked, for instance, and then it depends on how cool we store the food, the light exposure, the processing, the packaging, and so on. So for this reason, there’s certain things here.
Kimberly Snyder (04:37.132)
depending on where we are in the world, we’re not able to just pick fruit directly and eat it. Although what a gift that is when we are, when I’m in Hawaii on my farm and we’re able to get the grapefruit and the oranges right off the trees and the guavas, it’s amazing. And I know this is such a privilege. And here in California, we have some apples, apple trees and some fruit here. But a lot of the fruit that I eat is not coming right from the trees.
So what do we do? How do we do this in a busy life? How do we make sure our food is as fresh as possible? So fresh can also include frozen. And what I mean by this is since the vitamin C starts to degrade, of course, eating the really, like right off the tree is the best. But if you live in an urban environment and you’re away from actual trees,
At least the frozen food is picked and it’s frozen at that peak moment of ripeness. So you will get a good amount of the vitamin C and the nutrition in the food. So when I’m talking about fresh, it’s not so literal, although of course it’s wonderful to go to the farmer’s market when you can and to source food locally and as freshly picked as much as possible. But from a convenience standpoint and from a practical standpoint, I’m also talking about high quality
frozen food so that you can really live this lifestyle. But the freshness, the aliveness, I like to use frozen mangoes a lot in my Glowing Green Smoothie these days. My kids love it. There’s a quality to having the Glowing Green Smoothie and you feel it coming into your body versus just having a processed packaged protein bar for instance.
One of the things that I’ve been talking about so much is energy with this bulk and heart coherence, right? It can be measured from your body. The body’s always emitting energy. Your cells are emitting energy. You are energy in your core. So really consider how important freshness is every time you choose what you eat, every time you shop in the store, every time you go to the restaurant, every time you go to the snack bar.
Kimberly Snyder (06:53.864)
And again, it’s not that sometimes we’re going to choose some packaged things. and you know, that’s just how it goes. But when there is an opportunity to use fresh tomatoes, when you’re making a soup or to choose that salad in the restaurant, instead of, you know, something that isn’t as fresh or just, feels a bit more dense. Go with this intuition.
Go with the freshness and notice how this starts to shift your energy. So overall, just as an overarching thing, know, some numbers are important. You may want to know how many calories in general you’re eating in a day or generally how many grams of protein that you’re eating. This is a very important marker for my husband, but freshness, freshness, freshness. Let that be one of our most important guidance points when it comes to food. Number two, create more spaciousness.
and avoid rushing. So from the moment we get up in the morning, we want to stay in a more, in a deeper place of the spaciousness and this easefulness, which means in practical terms, a balanced nervous system. It means we have better digestion because we literally spend more time and rest and digest. Hurry energy means that we feel like we have to quicken the pace.
What this translates into the body is we walk faster, we talk faster, we’re rushing through the morning, brushing our teeth as fast as we can. We’re not chewing as well. And inside we are starting to get these internal messages. The input signals to the brain are, you know, I need to rush. There’s a panic mode. So yes, we start to slip into more of the sympathetic nervous system overdrive. We start to secrete more cortisol.
we start to live in a very different experience. So spaciousness in practical terms means getting up a little bit earlier so that you can ease into your morning. Spaciousness means you spend a little bit more time planning your commute. And I know I do this with my kids going to school. So if there’s an extra traffic light that you hit,
Kimberly Snyder (09:17.916)
or there’s a little bit of road construction, it doesn’t throw you into chaos. Spaciousness means not scheduling back -to -back Zooms, maybe putting into your schedule or into your calendar a little bit of space in between meetings. So you literally schedule it in so that you literally have more time to breathe and reset and be present, take a little walk.
hydrate, take care of yourself. Moment, like all the packing in, which is what the ego tells us that we need to do, which is really construct to the modern world will not serve your health. This is not a do more, no pain, no gain as the truths are the true tenants of wellness. Spaciousness is so important to our health, our physical health, our mental health, our emotional health.
and our spiritual health, we can start to notice, even if you tune in right now, what is the quality of your breath? What is the quality of your day -to -day interactions? When we’re hurrying, we can close out of our heart. We leave the heart. We start to rush past, push past people in the store, in your cart, or you you kind of don’t look people in the eye because…
You feel bad, but you’re not going to let them into the intersection because no matter what you’re going to get to your meeting outside, right? There’s this coldness that happens with hurrying and coldness breeds disconnection. So much of our holistic wellness journey is about deep connection with self and then with the greater life force in us, around us, in all others. And so when we have this sense of spaciousness,
It allows us to merge more with this incredible energy and this incredible ability to connect, which happens on a moment to moment basis. we’re rushing through life, we lose all these opportunities and guess what? You don’t get them back. There’s this beautiful saying in Japanese and I cannot remember exactly what the translation is. It’s a beautiful character. I remember getting a
Kimberly Snyder (11:43.4)
that was a, like a little painting of it. It’s on my desk upstairs and it’s something around, you know, only this moment forever in time, just this moment, I’m paraphrasing here, but really what it means is this moment is so magical and special and unique. And we want to honor this moment. And of course there’s times where, you know, we have to get things done and, you know, we’re getting, you know, just.
hurting the children into the car for school or whatever. not that every moment is just gonna feel like the most light, non -thinking moment, but on a daily basis, more of this spaciousness, working it in, not just sitting there and eating at your desk, but allowing the spaciousness to have at least 15 minutes or 10 minutes or 20 minutes or 30 minutes to take a lunch break and to go outside and to chew your food and to experience a different setting.
There’s a spaciousness that I really enjoy with my husband at the end of the day. We call it our control center when we’re just sort of lounging together in the bed. And we don’t subscribe to these ideas that date night has to be going out to dinner and rushing from our job, our work, to getting the kids to bed. And then suddenly we’re supposed to rush out and get dressed and do all these things. Just feels like another thing.
So we have decided that for us, you know, and sometimes we go out and sometimes we have events, but really the spaciousness of just getting to lounge around together and connect and drink tea and chat and talk really feels far more nourishing than just another thing to rush to. So the third power tip is to simplify your bot, your routine for your body.
and to choose what is the most impactful. So when I started talking about food combining years ago, I talked about how simple means better digestion. And I started to realize the more I’ve gone on this journey, how simple isn’t just related to nutritional digestion, but simple is a way of life. And simple means quality instead of throwing
Kimberly Snyder (14:08.44)
22 things into a smoothie or for instance, the way we formulated our growing, glowing greens powder is there are seven key ingredients. It’s a simple formula, but you get more of each plant. You get an efficacious amount of each plant, including Amalocca, spirulina and so on. And there’s a real power in simplicity because it allows the energy of that one thing to really be big.
so to speak, and you can really flourish in the energy of one thing at a time. So when I’m talking about simplifying your body care routine, because the body is one of our cornerstones, I think that one of the things our culture teaches us is that everything, right, we’re supposed to do all the different things and make sure you’re taking a cold shower and you’re doing oil pulling and you’re…
You know, you’re doing this and you’re doing that and you’re doing the 50 different things in the routine so that you rush through and you don’t give the things that you’re doing the full attention that they deserve and that would make them be truly impactful. So it’s better to choose things that you know will impact you. Right. For me, taking our SBO probiotics every day is a non -negotiable. For me, my meditation practice is a non -negotiable.
for me taking a warm shower in the evenings, part of my evening practice, I always do. I think it’s great to do, I’ll call out the ones that I don’t do all the time. I don’t do cold showers all the time. I understand the benefits. I know about, you know, burning the brown fat and, you know, some of the other benefits we’ve had Wim Hof on this podcast. I just don’t do them all the time.
I don’t do oil pulling every morning. I’ve talked about it with Vidya J, my argument teacher. I understand how great it is. It’s great for the vagus nerve and certain things. But ultimately at the end of the day, our life is flowing along and we have our relationships and we’re exercising and we’re making healthy food and you know, we have families and we’re doing things. And so from a practical standpoint, simplifying how you take care of your body.
Kimberly Snyder (16:28.266)
and what you do is going to be more powerful to your lifestyle.
My skincare routine is very simple now. I only use a few products. How I eat is quite simple. I drink our Glengreen smoothie. I have the Power Protein. Some people ask me how has my food routine changed. Hasn’t changed that much. But there’s certain things that I hit on a daily basis. I like to have sprouts or micro greens every day. I make sure I’m having, you know, fresh, fresh foods, like we talked about, lots of fruit, certain things.
But it’s very simple. How I eat, how I cook for my family is very simple. So it allows more time to be in dinner together and to be in meals and to spend with my family versus getting bogged down with things. My so -called workout routine is very simple. I go for a walk in the mountains and I stretch and I do yin yoga. Right now I’m not doing a sort of, you know, hardcore asana practice. I’m not doing any sort of
workout routines. feels really good for me to be outside, to be in nature. The simplest of all activities probably is walking. And that just feels so good to me mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. simplifying your life and choosing the things that are really the most impactful will make a big difference. And then number four, making time for daily lightness.
love and connection. And what I mean by this is regularly on a daily basis, what makes you feel the lightness and the connection and the love? This could be spending more time playing with your dog. This could be spending more time in your garden. This does not mean tuning out. So I’m not talking about
Kimberly Snyder (18:31.296)
You’re feeling really stressed and you’re just, you know, going to watch a bunch of TV or zonk out in front of screens. I’m not judging it. I’m not saying that there’s anything wrong with that per se, but that’s different than spending time in the lightness and the love and the connection. It’s going to feed you in a different way. And I understand that it’s easy to get home from a really busy day and maybe you hit a bunch of traffic and now you have to get home and you have to cook dinner for the kids and whatever.
but the lightness and the times of connection are really important even when we’re feeling exhausted. So building that in, having those extra moments to connect with your child at bedtime, telling stories about the day, having grace at dinner, having time or making time to call a friend or to call a relative or your parents.
Kimberly Snyder (19:29.46)
And I just, think about how precious time is, you know, I just got lost in the moment of thinking about, I would love to call my mom. You know, she’s on the other side. She passed out of her body some years ago. Right? So these things happen in life and we realize we don’t want to put connection off. And connection is from the heart. Connection is about presence. Connection is about fulfillment. The propelled heart, the second heart stage is always pushing us to do more.
And then to go to this point of exhaustion where then the other side is just zoning out and sitting on the couch and watching screens or drinking ourselves every night to ourselves every night or whatever it is. And again, it’s not that we don’t want, I’m not judging these things that we don’t want to, we want ways to deal with stress, but when we insert the energy of lightness, light.
Light coming through is the love, the connection, this energy, what lights you up. Is it going to coffee with a friend or going on a walk with someone instead of doing it on your own? Or is that connection, like I said, maybe sharing some pictures with relatives that would make them happy or getting pictures or starting a new text chain? There’s so many infinite ways that this can manifest.
But one thing I know for sure is this is a critical part of feeling so fulfilled and satisfied in our hearts, in our lives. Because our lifestyle is so holistic, it’s not going to be, we’re not going to get there just from eating well or just from eating the organic food or exercising. We get there from this really deep place of connection inside of us and connecting with others. And so how do you connect?
Is it making more time for daily baths at the end of the day? So I would urge you to journal, reflect, think about this, these three words, lightness, love, and connection, which is not tuning out, which is not numbing, which is not trying to space out and escape from life, but actually coming more in to the heart, into this present moment, into life.
Kimberly Snyder (21:50.144)
And what this can really be like when we build our life as these are priorities and not just add -ons sometimes or fleeting or random, but right here in our daily life. So I’ll share a little bit about what that looks like in my life. In the morning, I love to play chess with my older son. I love to have time to play with both of my children before the day goes into, busyness and off to school and into making breakfast.
and lunch. So that’s a really important time for lightness and love and connection. I mentioned that time with my husband at the end of the day, sometimes it’s a bit longer, sometimes it’s shorter, but it’s really important that we connect. And even just talking about this makes my heart start to feel warm and activated. This is medicine. This is important. I don’t want to skip these times in my life. And I urge you to not rush through life and not make them priorities as well.
time with friends, time with loved ones, time with your pets, time with yourself. So see where you can fit these junctures in. For me, it’s definitely the beginning of the day, definitely the end of the day. And there’s other moments as well, but I find practically speaking, those are the times where I can really count on things.
And the fifth one, and these power tips to really upgrade your lifestyle is to find your center. lifestyle can include for some people, you know, like the opposite ends. Like sometimes my lifestyle is really on, sometimes it’s really off. I like to build in these, you know, experiences every year, which are great. I go on these retreats.
I do really great things for myself on the weekends. do that yoga class I really love at 10 a on Saturday morning. But the longer I go on in this wellness journey, I realize that our centeredness, moment to moment, day to day, and I can’t help but bring this back to the heart, the steady heart, means that we are staying in this place of more stress resilience, interconnection.
Kimberly Snyder (24:09.92)
and not just going off into extremes. So what does this mean on a daily basis? Well, all of the things that we’ve been adding, we’ve been talking about also contribute to this, this idea of spaciousness and not rushing, this idea of, well, first of all, the center of our being is our hearts. It is our true self. It’s centeredness in yourself, not relying on other people’s schedules, other people’s opinions, other people’s
ideas of you, when you find your center, when you find your purpose, when you find what lights you up, when you find what your goals and your dreams are, you can also stay in this calmer centered place with your own vision, looking out and influencing your day to day life. So my center comes from being more in my heart. And so when things are coming at me, when I feel like I have to rush, I just return there. I hold my, I touch my heart.
I breathe down into my heart and I find the centeredness before I respond, before I act, before I move, before I speak. I find the center before I eat. I like to get centered so I’m not eating from a stressed out place. I’m not making decisions from a erratic place or an imbalanced place. So the centeredness in you will allow you to choose when to say no, when to say yes. It means,
not going off into the big emotions that are up and down. So instead of being giddy and like, my gosh, gaggling, this is so amazing. And then also letting in the down. I feel so down right now. Practice what it’s like on a daily basis, being more in your center. So this means again, breathing, more observation, more listening before you jump in.
Listening more, sitting back maybe a little bit more, not dampening down yourself, but listening more in conversations, speaking when you really authentically want to express or share a need or boundary or something that really lights you up. Centeredness means we don’t deplete ourselves by running around. We talked about the rushing, but also saying yes to everything. We stay in our center and then we are, we take inspired action.
Kimberly Snyder (26:28.854)
I did an Instagram live a few days ago with someone. I come on their podcast and they were talking about what’s the difference between taking action and just letting things happen, the way of flow, the way of your heart. So when you’re in your center, which happens as you come into this holistic lifestyle, as you’re eating more fresh food, this is it all starts to line up. And as you’re coming into higher heart coherence, which is what the new book is about, The Hidden Power of the Five Hearts, you are able to better discern
I’m actually pushing here. I’m coming out of my center. I’m trying to make this happen. I’m overthinking this. I’m coming at this from a more desperate place versus I’m in the center of my energy and it feels natural. It feels in my heart to pursue this conversation or to pursue this opportunity or I’m feeling really centered now and calm and I can really feel that I’m hungry right now or I can feel that it’s time to eat again or this specific food is calling me.
So centeredness goes hand in hand with calmness, which means we have to have tools to not get swept up in the emotions and the thoughts, but rather to stay in more emotional resilience and in our center. The heart align steady in life practice, which is in stage three, a steady heart of the five hearts right in the middle, right about the centeredness is one that I use quite a bit because I think that many of us
Feel the turbulence of big emotions, ups and downs going through us. So in this practice, and there’s more detail in the book, but in the practice, you would focus on your heart and you would allow then for emotional digestion to take place, which means we’re not pushing life away. The way we stay centered in our life is we stay in the peaceful center as life is moving through us, it’s moving around us, it’s moving over us, right? There’s big emotions that are coming in.
events, people are saying things, there’s things we hear, there’s things that we observe, but yet there’s a way to stay so centered. And then from this place, we’re able to discern what’s the best thing for me to eat. How do I live? What do I say? What do I use my time with in this moment? So this becomes a really important part of our lifestyle because otherwise when we’re not in our center, we will eat in a way that doesn’t serve us. will do life, we will make lifestyle choices.
Kimberly Snyder (28:54.346)
We will follow fads that don’t serve us. We will do what other people are doing that we saw on TikTok. We start to get confused. We start to make very different decisions. We buy things that we end up not using or not needing. We end up wasting a lot of time. We deplete energy. We get confused. Lots of things happen. So one of the most powerful things for our health is to stay in our center. And we do that through calmness. We do that through coherence. We do that through these practices.
which I’ll echo here again. Number one, focus on freshness, fresh foods, not just getting caught up in fads and numbers, but the freshest foods for your vitality. Number two, create that sense of spaciousness in your day so you’re not hurrying, so you can stay centered, so that you can feel uneasefulness and more connection. And number three, make time for more lightness, love and connection.
because this is your life right here, right now in these days, in these moments. So this is a way to increase abundance too, because there’s something about loosening up the rigidity of the mind and the hardness and the harshness, way, the ways in which we can move through life instead when we’re light and connected, we can allow more things to flow in and it’s so beautiful and it allows more coherence in our field, which is magnetic. Number four.
We want to simplify our bodily routine and focus on the things that are the most impactful. And number five, through all this, we want to just stay more centered. And there’s a lot of tools for doing that, including following our lifestyle practices, including the tools and the hidden power of the five hearts, including a new offering that we have on our website, which is a self -awareness tool guide. So awareness also allows us to discern
when we’re actually being reactive versus centered so that we can start to come back more and more into this clear, calm place where we can make the best decisions and we can really elevate our energy and our overall lifestyle. So I’m really excited to get back into this flow here with you on the show. And as we move forward, but with this also incredible deep layer as well integrating in of heart.
