This week’s topic is: How Tap Waters Harmful Toxins and Chemicals can Negatively Affect Your Health
Tap water is something that has been on my mind lately. We recently got our tap water tested in California, and it was really shocking. This is part of what has inspired this podcast. We found that there were over 432 times what’s considered the “safe” level of arsenic in our tap water.
We had always used a drinking filter, but this inspired us to do a whole house filter, which really helps with your body. It helps to prevent your body absorbing toxins as your pores open up while you’re showering, it can be absorbed into your laundry. There’s many different aspects of this. I’m going to a whole range of solutions and awareness that I want to share with you because I was not aware of all of this and I think it’s really important that we stay informed.

Namaste love and welcome back to our Thursday, Q&A podcast where our topic this week is How Tap Waters Harmful Toxins and Chemicals can Negatively Affect Your Health. So we’re going real granular today. We’re going real practical. This covers our body cornerstone, or this fits into our body cornerstone. As we rotate around food body, emotional wellbeing and spiritual growth as the four cornerstones of true wellness and our full lifestyle that we promote here at the feelgood podcast. And so Luna as always, these questions come right from our community and it is my great honor to support you on moving forward in your life and really just simple as can be living your best life, which I wholeheartedly believe comes from embracing this holistic approach. And so tap water is something that has been on my mind lately. We recently got our tap water tested in California, and it was really shocking.
So this is part of what has inspired this podcast. We found that there were over 432 times. This what’s considered the safe quote unquote level of arsenic in our tap water. And so we had always used a drinking filter, but this inspired us to do a whole house filter, which I’ll get into today, which just really helps with your body. It helps to prevent your body absorbing toxins as your pores open up while you’re showering, it can be absorbed into your laundry. There’s many different aspects of this. And so I’m gonna cover today some, a whole range of solutions and just some real, um, awarenesses that I wanna share with you because I was not aware of all of this. And I think it’s really important that we stay informed.

It gives research and information. We hone in on one specific question as we rotate the cornerstones. And really the purpose of this Thursday show is to give you takeaways. So you can really start to live this in your life. So in spiritual terms, in YOIC terms, VALIC terms, truth is what’s in the scriptures.
When we re we know a truth, it’s something that is Satya, but when we start to live it, when we live the truth, that is realization. And so these Thursday shows are about, ah, the epiphany, the researcher, the teaching, there’s the truth, but then the action step part is the living it, the embodiment, that’s where the realization becomes part of your own life. And that’s where you really start to benefit.
Question around the topic of: How Tap Waters Harmful Toxins and Chemicals can Negatively Affect Your Health: Kimberly, Love your podcast and your products! My question is that I have always been a tap water drinker, but I have been reading that many cities’ water supplies have toxic chemicals in them. What do you think about drinking tap water?
So our question today comes from our beautiful community member, Abby, who lives in Illinois. Hello, my love. Thank you so much for contributing and being part of our community. You write Kimberly, I love your podcast and your products. Thank you. My love, my question is that I have always been a tap water drinker, but I’ve recently been reading that many cities, water supplies have toxic chemicals in them. What do you think about drinking tap water?
So the short answer Abby is I do not recommend drinking tap water. I think it’s really, really important that we have some kind of filtration system with, through which we run our tap water through before we put it in our bodies. There’s some specific studies here that I’m gonna focus on. I’m gonna share with you. But I wanna say that I had a, we had relatives. So this was my ex’s mother, actually, who had Parkinson’s and his father had dementia and early onset Alzheimer’s. And so they lived in St. Louis in the Midwest, and I started just doing research and I was just looking,
And this is when I came across some research showing that there were certain cities where the fungus side concentration, and I believe the herbicide, but definitely the fungus side concentration in the tap water was so high in certain cities that there was some preliminary connotations, some connections to, um, degenerative, uh, neuro diseases. So this is when I started to and really say, oh my gosh, this is really scary. And of course I did grow up with a mother who was really into naturals and alternatives. So I did grow up with a shower filter and I did grow up with filtered water, but the more I look around and I look at what’s going on in our environment and in our earth, you realize, wow, a lot of scary things can come through. And then we get into the aspect and, you know, people in New York city will always say, oh, the tap waters here are supposed to be so great.
But then you think about pipes and you think about old plumbing systems. And you think about the fact that even if, you know, some water is so called better than others, it’s still going through and potentially picking up heavy metals like lead from old piping and all that. So in any case, I’m a big believer in really caring for your water, making sure it is filtered, which will get into specifics here because our bodies are such a high composition of water. We drink water every day and we wanna make sure we wanna have that confidence that we’re hydrating with water that is healthy and clean. So here’s some general information studies, um, in tap water, there is the potential for varying levels of arsenic. And I mentioned that was in our California drinking in our tap water. And arsenic is something that should definitely be avoided.
It is correlated with all kinds of health problems, including, I mean, it ranges the more you have of course, but IBS and partial paralysis, and it can be correlated with birth defects. And so it’s just something that you want to get out of your tap water, then there’s chlorine. And this was also measured when I did my home test and they found that there was more chlorine in my tap water than in a swimming pool. And the problem with chlorine is that it gets absorbed into your body and it can create respiratory issues. It can create all sorts of throat issues, irritations inflammation in the body. So you don’t wanna be drinking chlorine and bathing in it day in and day out then there’s fluoride, which is, you know, from a dental standpoint, you see toothpaste with fluoride, but it’s still, it still tends to bioaccumulate.
It tends to come in larger and larger amounts. And so the problem is it can contribute to skeletal issues and some health issues. So even if you are filtering your water, you’re still gonna get some into your body, through all the different sources, but we don’t wanna get an over, um, you know, we don’t wanna go over in our amount of fluoride, then there’s other heavy metals that can come through like mercury leg, copper chromium, and they can, they, this is where the neurodegenerative diseases do have implications do have correlations, including with Parkinson’s and dementia and so on, and leg can damage your kidneys and increase the risk of high blood pressure. And then there is the herbicides and the pesticides, which get into the water supplies. As I mentioned, there were specific studies in the, um, cities in the Midwest that were tested and found high levels.
And this is, you know, these are neurotoxins. So these are designed to go in and kill the damage, the spines, the brains, the central nervous system of pests. But when this adds up, when you’re constantly ingesting this, even though we are much larger than insects, it can have an effect, a detrimental effect on the human body. So we wanna get that out. And then it just goes on and on from water softening, the pro, which is the process of moving heavy ions, nitrates radar on, I mean, I don’t wanna, um, phosphate, I don’t wanna go too deep into this, but the point is there is a lot of stuff that can be in our tap water that we do not want in our bodies. So it’s a good idea to test your tap water. We will link on the show notes to some agencies and some resources here.
You can check it out at the environmental protection agency website as well. And there is a, the EPA safe drinking water hotline. You can ask questions. There’s also some cell, um, some self testing water kits. So all of this will be over in the show notes, so you can get peace of mind and you can see, Hmm. They say the tap water is safe in my area, but when you do your own analysis, you can go deeper into some of these contaminants that you just wouldn’t want in your body that may be considered safe by, you know, the, the government. So it’s sort of like with skincare products, you think about the thousands of chemicals that are allowed into our skincare products that are banned in the EU in the European union, and yet they’re considered safe. So we don’t wanna just make that assumption with our tap water either.
Whole house filtration system
So there’s different ways to manage your water supply. It is an investment, but something that we decided to do for our family, which was important to us personally, was a whole house filtration system. And what this does is it, it just keeps it through, um, these contaminants from coming through again, when you shower, when you bathe, when you take a hot shower and your pores open up, you can absorb these chemicals. When you are washing your vegetables and your fruit, they can get absorbed. Even when you’re doing your laundry and they get into your clothes, they can give you absorbed into your skin. There’s millions of waste that water around your home and through your home gets absorbed into your body. So it is a cost. It is an investment. It may not make sense if you’re renting your place or you’re in an apartment, or you may move every few years, but something to think about long term, something to consider.
Inline system
And then there’s something called an inline system that really helps to clean, clean out your drinking water and your cooking water. So remember, besides the water that you’re drinking, if you’re cooking with water, imagine you’re using it to cook quinoa or rice, or you’re washing fruits and vegetables. This is still gonna get absorbed in your system. So an inline system helps with specific faucets and water outlets. So you can filter for instance, your kitchen faucet. And that’s something that you may wanna look into.
Reverse Osmosis Filtration
There’s reverse osmosis filtration, which removes potentially dangerous toxins and contaminants, which has a three part filter. Usually there’s a filtration process, which is a sedimentary. Pre-filter a carbon filter and then a semipermeable membrane. So reverse osmosis is a really great option.
Ultraviolet Light
Then there’s ultraviolet light, which is really great for bacteria and viruses. You see this sometimes in portable filtration for camping and for hikers, but it may not be all that you wanna use in your kitchen because it’s not necessarily removing the heavy metals and the contaminants.
Carbon and Activated Charcoal Filters
And then there’s carbon and activated charcoal filters, which are really great for removing chlorine and other agricultural chemicals. And then there are also standalone shower filters, which let’s say, you’re not doing a whole house filter. I do recommend getting a water filter, at least for your kitchen, that would be for your drinking and then definitely a shower filter. Because again, that just gets absorbed into your scalp, into your body. And when I added a shower filter, or when we had the whole house filter, now I noticed a huge difference. My hair being softer and my skin being softer and everything improving so much. So these are some really great options. So you don’t have to do the whole house, but it’s really important that we pay attention to these to these aspects of our lifestyle, because you may buy organic food. You may take our, hopefully our Feel Good Solluna supplements, but if we are, our bodies are being drenched in these chemicals every day, it can still really adversely affect our health.
So please head over to mysolluna.com, where we will link to lots of these resources and these options. So you can check them out for yourself and Abby, thank you so much for bringing this important topic to light. It is important because again, we know our bodies and food. What we’re putting in does have such a huge effect on our mental, emotional, spiritual states of being in our overall health. If we are, if we have neurodegenerative diseases or inflammation in the body, it’s very hard to go deeper in our meditations. It’s very hard to go deep in our actualization of our best lives, which of course is our goal here. And my goal in supporting you in. So I will be back here Monday for our next interview podcast. Thank you so much for being here with me. It is my great honor to be connected, and I send you so much love, so much support. Keep the questions coming. You can submit them over at mysolluna.com as well. So I can hopefully answer your question in an upcoming show. Also be in cyberspace, Instagram and so on. And at underscore Kimberly Snyder, sending you lots of love, lots of gratitude, Namaste.
