Hi Beauty!
Today I want to talk about some natural allergy relief remedies. Many of us suffer from allergies, that may range from just being irritating, annoying, and all the way to life-threatening. There are different over-the-counter medications that range from antihistamines, decongestants, eye drops, and steroid skin creams.
Of course, these can be very helpful, especially if you’re going through a particularly intense bout and we need that relief. At the same time, these medications aren’t addressing the deeper root cause, so I definitely encourage you to look into these more holistic natural remedies like I’m talking about today.
The first one is quercetin. This is a compound that’s found naturally. It’s naturally occurring, particularly in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli. It’s been shown that, over time, quercetin can help to help with allergies because it helps to reduce the hyperactivity of the airways. This is more of a long-term protocol.
As you increase the cruciferous veggies in your life over a few months, you may start to notice some relief. It doesn’t mean you need to eat broccoli every single day, however, I do encourage you to mix and match the different vegetable families.
You could have broccoli, cabbage, kale or cauliflower nutrients — incorporating more of that in your life with the specific goal of helping — alleviating some of your allergy concerns.
The second one is raw apple cider vinegar. I’ve talked about this before. I get a lot of questions about this. This is a great ingredient to add into salad dressings. You can dilute it in water, you can sip it a little bit. We know it’s great for gut health. It has some potassium, it has some great nutrient benefits if we ingest it.
We can also get a Neti Pot, which is a traditional in India and Ayurvedic medicine to flush the sinuses. You can actually flush your sinuses with raw apple cider vinegar, which can be very effective for allergies. Exciting, right?!
Now, the next one is maybe the most important because it works overall, something I talk about quite a bit. I’m very passionate about SBO probiotics. We know 80% of our immunity resides in our gut. If we don’t have a healthy microbiome, our gut is in dysbiosis, or imbalance. Then, we are more prone to allergies and our allergies tend to exacerbate and get worse, not better.
Once we get our gut in balance, over time, we may find that we’re not as sensitive or prone to the same types of allergies as we were. This is just something I’ve observed anecdotally with clients and family members.
You can try it for yourself. It can only help. Balancing your gut is one of the most powerful things you can do for your skin, energy, hair, wellness, moods, and really, everything.
Taking the right types of probiotics is key. Investing in the right kind of probiotic that’s actually going to survive your stomach acid and be resident-forming in your gut is key. Otherwise, you’re just wasting your money.
Our ancestors naturally got probiotics from the soil. There is this amazing mix that helps to really create that ideal microbiome in our gut, just like in healthy soil where we’re able to grow healthy, organic produce. I’m really passionate about that.
The next thing is aromatherapy. Certain essential oils can be very helpful with allergies, and in particular, eucalyptus oil, which has been shown to be a great natural allergy remedy. A couple ways you can use it is in a diffuser, putting it in your personal space and just diffuse it.
You would dilute it into a carrier oil or into water, depends on the diffuser and on how you’re actually using it. Just having it around in your space can naturally help with allergies.
Also, in your laundry loads you can put 25 drops of eucalyptus oil per full laundry load. This can help get that eucalyptus oil in your space and help as a natural allergy remedy. That’s another great way to use it.
I hope that these tips were helpful to you. I hope that you definitely start to incorporate some of them and try them out for yourself. I know allergies can be a huge downer, but there’s definitely things we can do.
Again, if you want to use some of those conventional medications, you can certainly try these at the same time and they can work together. You can start to find that balance and just feel more fortified going forward against allergies. Again, hope that was helpful. Sending you so much love, Beauty.
Have a wonderful rest of your day and I’ll see you back here on mysolluna.com or on my Beauty Inside Out podcast, or on social.
Til then, lots of love,
Kimberly
