Who amongst us doesn’t want more peace, more feelings of just calmness, equanimity, enjoying life. We know the opposite of peace. We know when we feel anxious, when we are just worrying about the future, we’re ruminating about the past, we just don’t really feel good. We don’t really have a good experience in life.
And peace is something that we can all access. We can always gain more and more in our life. This is something I have personally experienced, just living this lifestyle and applying some of the teachings and practices that I’ll share with you today that have really helped me and has allowed me to evolve from someone who had a lot of anxiety and a lot of insomnia into someone that is just a lot more peaceful in my day to day life. I know if I can transition this way, then I know that the same is possible for you.

Kimberly: 05:07 I’m very excited about this topic, which is practical tips for gaining peace in your life. Excuse me. I wanted to talk about practical for a moment because this is also the SubT of the book, practical enlightenment for everyday life. When I’m talking about practical, I wanna take these concepts in the philosophy, which may sound good. It may sound appealing, but how do we actually live this? How do we apply this into our everyday experience of life? So it becomes part of us. It’s breathing through life with us, so to speak it’s with us, the tool in our back pocket, we just start to call on these practices. So we go from being in anxiety to going to being in peace, little by little. It’s not about shifting everything overnight, necessarily. This isn’t like doing a water fast, going from binging to eating a water fast, you know, in terms of an analogy as how we might apply it to food.
Kimberly: 06:04 But rather we start to live these practices. Some of them, you know, you can meditate in the morning for seven minutes, eight minutes starting. You can start to expand that over time, but just for a few moments in the morning, just starting to reframe your energy. For instance, starting to, you know, take a pause before we react and say something unkindly. We let that 90 seconds of, you know, biochemical transitions happen. We breathe. We sit. So there’s a practical nature to everything that we’re gonna talk about today. So it can be part of your life, which is where real change is to be had. So let’s get right into these tips right here right now.
Tip #1. Practical Tips for Gaining Peace in Your Life: Speak kindness
And the first one I wanna bring up is speak kindness. So when we’re working to, to create more peace in our life, one of the things, one of the energies that we really wanna harness in is harmony and harmony means that we find a way to just harmonize with this present moment.
Kimberly: 07:08 And with others around us, disharmony creates, um, the opposite of peace. It creates just this sort of jagged energy where we’re sort of, you know, butting heads wrestling with other people, resting for power, just overanalyzing. And a lot of this comes from, you know, when we need to backtrack when, when we’ve gossip or we’ve talked badly about someone or we’ve commented it on something, the environment around us, or a product or a project or whatever it is, we don’t need all this disharmony in our life. So right here, right now, we can simply make the decision to speak kindness, to be kind. And that just keeps us in a peaceful mode so much more, again, we don’t have to retract or go back and Hmm, what did I say there? Or, you know, clean up a mess or defend, you know, getting into some sort of argument.
Kimberly: 08:15 We just wanna speak kindly. We wanna see, kind see the light and let that expand by commenting on the light. And you know, if someone is stumbling along, if someone is struggling, instead of kicking them down further, why not just be kind kindness and peace go together. So starting today, notice you may feel the urge to say something that is less than kind. Even if it’s not direct to someone, it may be something you see on TV or something you see on social media. And of course, please refrain from mean comments. Um, but just saying it out loud, just creates a different sort of energy. And your true nature is kindness. Your true nature is love and BLIS. So when we live in accordance to our true nature, everything opens up including our inner piece. And that is priceless. That is the real measurement of success. You can have all the money in the world. You can have all the physical beauty and all of this external stuff, but if you’re not really peaceful inside, none of it really matters. So this is really important. My first tip is to speak kind.
Tip #2. Practical Tips for Gaining Peace in Your Life: Witnessing, not judging
Kimberly: 09:37 So then my second tip is witness instead of judge. So this judgment can goes beyond speaking all the ways in which we judge, we draw a line in the sand between us and another person or another group. We create separation <affirmative> we judge we see right or wrong, black and white. And this starts to create the, the spinning of the ego. Meaning the ego just starts. It just keeps commenting and noticing. And, and again, judging creating the separation. And that is the opposite of peace. Peace means we are in harmony. We have acceptance. We surrender to what is, and that includes what is showing up in this moment. So sometimes of course, we have to make evaluations based on decisions. We may see which, uh, wallpaper we like better, or which meal we is in a restaurant, but for a lot of the time, these judgments, which are arising constantly and consistently do not need to really be there.
Kimberly: 10:47 So what we do is we just notice if we’re going into judgment mode and we just take some deep breath and we pull it back to center, we would, we notice what people are wearing. We notice the colors in the room. We notice the level of noise or whatever is showing up. And we just practice blanking the mind and being with what is and breathing. And that’s where peace is peace here. And now peace is an in this moment. So in this moment, how do I find that harmony? How do I just breathe and be instead of judging? And so this is a very powerful way to keep building the peace more and more in your life. Just be, just look around, but try to keep calling it back in, keep blanking the mind if you know yourself going into any sort of judgment.
Tip #3. Practical Tips for Gaining Peace in Your Life: Create the right lifestyle
Kimberly: 11:42 All right. My next practical tip for you is to create right lifestyle. So as we talk about here frequently on our feel good podcast and in our Solona community, everything is interrelated. All the energies in your life affect the other parts. So what I mean by that is the way that you eat, the way that you exercise, the way that you speak, the way that you show up moment to moment affects the other parts of you. So if you’re showing up in a lot of anxiety and restlessness in this moment, this will inevitably affect your digestion. It can affect your food choices. You may have a tougher time with food cravings. You’re just looking desperate, some way to CRO, to quell your restless energy. You’re looking for some way to soothe yourself. So, right. Lifestyle means that we look holistically at our entire life and the way that we are setting up our system of living and we create more peace and harmony from synergizing, those efforts and creating, um, an integration across all parts of our intention to have more peace.
Kimberly: 13:00 So the practical way in which we approach this is through our system of the four cornerstones, which is how we really nourish ourselves on all levels and take this holistic approach to our self-care and to our lifestyle. Our four cornerstones are food body, emotional wellbeing and spiritual growth. And each of these, again, we want to apply towards this goal of living a more harmonious, peaceful life. So from, so from a food perspective, think about what peace means. Peace means. Um, we are settled in, we are content. We are not constantly looking around and seeing lack. We are just good with what is, so how does that look? How would that look in your life from a food perspective? Well, first of all, instead of constantly evaluating and, and looking and creating this restlessness, we wanna create a rhythm of eating. So we just know what to do, and it eliminates a lot of this decision paralysis or decision over attention.
Kimberly: 14:12 Um, putting too much attention too much into making decision. What do I eat for breakfast today? What, what am I, what diet am I following? What am I supposed to do for dinner? We just know what to do when we get into more of a flow, which again, creates more peace and harmony. So establish a rhythm to your eating in the morning, hot water with lemon, perhaps hot water with lemon and ginger. If it’s particularly cold, where you are drinking your glowing green smoothie, closer to room temperature, um, you know, flowing through the day, maybe mid morning, I’m going through what I eat. <laugh> I have a big gluten free wrap lately. I found these coconut wraps by the way, which are really delicious. I have avocado sprouts, hummus, cucumbers lately are my favorite thing to put my wraps. I just know what to eat, you know, and the lunch there’s a salad.
Kimberly: 15:01 There may be some quinoa, whatever it is. And then dinner lately has been a one pot meal Kittery. Um, last night we made the everyday awesome and the perfectly imperfect book. Again, there’s some sprout of brown rice, there’s veggies. I roasted some zucchini last night, you know, there’s just a basic framework and I know what is going on. And so create a basic framework, including basic eating times. Okay. I know I’m gonna have my mid morning snack around this time lunches to generally one o’clock dinner’s six o’clock, whatever it is. So you just know your body knows what to expect, and then you wanna eat a lot of colorful, fresh foods, foods that are giving your body what it needs, nutrition wise. So lots of plant food with the fiber, all the different antioxidants, the care carats, the, um, healthy fats, lots and lots of information about this that, you know, can continue to go deeper and deeper on the Solluna website.
Kimberly: 16:02 There’s lots of recipes, lots of information. We also have our 30 day roadmap for healthy weight loss. If you’re looking to get into more of a flow, but this part of lifestyle will create more peace because there’s just less drama in the food department. So you’re nourished and you’re supplied. And then you just move on to your day. Next cornerstone is body. So here’s where you wanna make sure that from a deep, deep core place in your body, there is peace. There is EF, and that starts with your microbiome. Your microbiome allows you to the healthy microbiome will allow you to create the right neurotransmitters so that your moods are stable, which makes it a lot easier to feel peaceful in your life. If your gut is screwed up, you will feel that kind of urge like the reactivity, the anger, verbal up the rage, the resentfulness, or on the flip side slothfulness and depression.

So spend five, 10 minutes a day, just stretching, notice any tight areas, do some twists for your spine.
Kimberly: 18:03 You know, some forward bends, a lot of us have tight hamstrings and all of these practices of starting to, to move energy in your body will help you just feel more light and, um, flexible in your body, which can go a really long way in creating more peace. Our third cornerstone is emotional wellbeing slash mental health. And so here’s where in order to find more or peace, we wanna keep noticing what we hold onto. So we can journal about what we wanna let go of any sort of energies that are tight in our life right now, maybe we still feel resentful about something that someone said or something that happened. Maybe we’re struggling to forgive. Maybe we’re just not forgiving our else for an incident or something that happened. So take some time to journal about what you can let go of, and that will in turn, help you to create more peace in your life.
Kimberly: 18:59 So let’s say for the next week or so five or 10 minutes, what can I let go of? What can I let go of every day? And just notice it’s like an onions. Things will start to come ’em up. Huh? And then the next day you may notice because you’ve cleared one thing that something else will come up of that you weren’t aware of. So keep going deeper and deeper into your forgiveness and letting go practices. And then finally, our fourth cornerstone is spiritual growth and here’s where we want to really prioritize meditation to find that deep center of peace that is inside of us, we just need to learn to access it. It is often dormant. So I highly recommend trying one of our practical enlightenment meditation meditations that are on our app. They’re free. I put them out every week. So you can find the ones that resonate with you.
Kimberly: 19:52 They’re usually just seven or eight minutes. Peace is waiting for us. Peace is inside of us, but we need to spend time balance this time and outer doing outer activity emails, you know, creating content for social media, zooms running after our kids preparing lunch and dinner, all this outer doing needs to be balanced with inner connection, no matter how busy you are. And believe me, I am very full. My plate is full. Sometimes I feel like every minute is accounted full. You know, getting, you know, watching the baby, get to eat some food myself before rushing out to pick up BU from kindergarten, getting these podcasts in, you know, the calls, everything it’s very measured, but I do prioritize my meditations. I will not skip them. They are in my schedule. They are in my calendar. I will do less to ensure that the meditations are in.
Kimberly: 20:54 This is where we start to understand that life is here right now. The important things, spending time with your loved ones, doing your meditations. These are things we do not wanna put off. Everything around life will start to, um, adjust around the priorities that we create. So it’s up to us to stand for ourselves and to stand for. What’s really important. And to prioritize the things that no one else is gonna prioritize for us. So if we don’t do that, um, we, we can, they can just start getting, you know, pushed and pushed out of our life. So it’s really for us to, um, to prioritize and to create. And that’s really, really important.
Kimberly: 21:39 So this is a huge bucket. This huge part of it, of part of our life is creating this right lifestyle. And, um, living it, taking this holistic approach more and more as we integrate this into our life, we want peace to be a priority. Then we also prioritize our right lifestyle. Okay. So, so far we have speak kindness next, have witness, not judge third, we have right lifestyle.
Tip #4. Practical Tips for Gaining Peace in Your Life: Asking yourself if your opinion is needed
And number four, we have ask yourself if your opinion is needed right now. So similarly in a, in a way to witnessing versus judging, we can find ourselves in life, always, um, wanting there’s this urge inside of us to insert our opinion. And sometimes our opinion is needed. And sometimes it’s asked for, and sometimes it is not. So if our opinion isn’t needed, it is better to preserve our energy, to not have it go out into the outer world.
Kimberly: 22:54 You know, in yoga terms, we would say getting involved in matter, external drama in the world, just don’t comment. Don’t give your opinion, just pull back. And this keeps the energy here and now it keeps us in calmness. We don’t always need to give our opinion. Ego wants the opinion to be known. Ego wants the, um, the limited perspective of the ego to be reinforced every time we’re giving our opinion. It’s a way of reinforcing this sense of self known as the ego, but instead we can just be, except this is another really potent way to harmonize in your life is to, ah, just notice discern, but realize that we don’t always have to shape and share our opinion. So create a new habit, create a new awareness of, okay, I’ll give my opinion if it’s relevant, but if it’s not, I’m just gonna keep it to myself. And this definitely will help you to create more peace.
Tip #5. Practical Tips for Gaining Peace in Your Life: Meditating nightly
Kimberly: 24:06 All right, our next and final tip is to meditate every evening. So I talked about meditation and spiritual growth because it’s a way of being in our lifestyle. And I talk a lot about meditation in the morning as a way of setting your energy. But when we’re talking about peace here, I also want to call attention to the evening as we go into, um, the deep rest period where so much is, um, rejuvenated ourselves overturn when we’re sleeping overnight. I also think as we go into evening, we had the chance to program our limited beliefs, our emotional blocks. And so this is one of the reasons we don’t wanna fall asleep with the TV on. We don’t want any of those messages or ideas starting to seep down into our subconscious and as yoga Nanda, the great yoga guru says our super consciousness. We want to be a Ms.
Kimberly: 25:06 We wanna take control over the energies and influences, which are going deep down inside of us. So meditation in the evening is a powerful way to shape that. No matter what’s happened in the day, what’s transpired what we’ve said, how we’ve behaved. We do a little analysis there, little journaling, if we want, just to let go and learn. So we don’t hold onto any shame or any heaviness. And at the same time, we want to go back into that deep well of peace and harmony and synergize with that, you know, really just spend time, um, taking in that beautiful energy of peacefulness. So in the evening, again, you can go and choose a different practical enlightenment meditation from our library, which is at our website, my solona.com. It’s also on our Solona app, or you can do the same one if you’re working through a theme like, um, grounding or expansion or, um, whatever it is, there’s a wonderful warrior meditation, which in our Solluna Circle, we’ve several members have said, it’s their favorite one right now.
Kimberly: 26:12 So you can always try a new one, but you wanna just really take that time and prioritize meditating in the evening. Resetting. So now not only have you shifted your energy in the morning, but as we go into deep, um, rest and sleep, you’re going into those more peaceful of frequencies in your body. Dropping down into slower brainwaves from beta to alpha, to theta, to eventually Delta the sleeping brainwaves. And you’re nourishing yourself with a, this union. So meditation and yoga about union, not just relaxation of the senses, but actually creating union between your limited ego and the true self, this formless, beautiful energy, this expansive energy inside of you, which is where you will always be able to drink from the well of deep, deep peace. So keep going there, keep nourishing yourself deeply with your meditations and you will definitely gain more peace in your life overall.
Kimberly: 27:13 So let’s review all our tips today. Practical tips for gaining peace in your life. Number one, speak kindness, spread kindness. Let only kindness come from your mouth. No gossiping, no. Um, speaking out of read activity, we’re not gonna be perfect, but we work towards this more and more. We’ll notice the peace rising. Number two witness do not judge so much. So just see what’s going perceive, but you know, stop drawing the separation of good, bad, less than better than whatever. All the ways that take us out of peace and equanimity. Number three, create lifestyle that will allow you to feel good in your body and create peace throughout your life. Through our four cornerstones food body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. Next, ask yourself if your opinion is needed. If it is not refrain, hold back, keep your energy inside and more peace is found there.
Kimberly: 28:12 And lastly, be sure to meditate every evening. So you’re setting the tone as you close out the day as you go towards rest and sleep. And again, more information, more being programmed in your subconsciousness, be sure that you have created that peaceful state, that connection to peace, which will help to saturate more and more peace throughout your life.
