This week’s topic is: 4 Small Spiritual Steps that Result in Big Changes in Your Life
Spirituality is seeing this expanded essence within all things. It’s seeing spirit in all things. It’s the universe, God, source, higher power, whatever verbiage, whatever concept you connect with, it doesn’t really matter. And it’s seeing that in the physical life, there are things that we see with our physical eyes, but there is more to perceive from an energetic and spiritual standpoint. This is the expanded vision. This is what the yogis and the gurus talked about and the opening of the third eye.
When we start to see life with this expanded vision, we start to feel more connection, more love, joy, and bliss. In other words, all of the emotions, all of the feelings, all of the states of being that we crave and we want, we desire. This is a whole different way of living life. And so we want to bring spirituality into our life. We want to meld the spiritual and the physical.
We don’t want to compartmentalize. We don’t want to have that one hour that we go to service, synagogue, church, temple or wherever you go. If you practice any of that or have a meditation and then don’t bring it into the rest of your life, we want to start bringing this into our lives moment to moment. This expanded vision gives us great comfort and strength and solace.
The amazing thing about spirituality and letting it run through our lives is that we become empowered to feel the True Self. We feel spirit inside of us. It creates self-reliance and true strength. And whilst we love to share and connect with others, we realize that we don’t really need anything outside our strength. Our true anchor and our sanctuary is on the inside.

Kimberly (00:01):Namaste loves and welcome back to our Thursday Q&A podcast where our topic this week is 4 Small Spiritual Steps that Result in Big Changes in Your Life. So today we are of course hitting on our fourth Cornerstone, which is our spiritual growth cornerstone. The other ones are emotional wellbeing, body food. And again, as I emphasize, every week, all of these cornerstones very much work together. Spirituality is seeing this expanded essence within all things. It’s seeing spirit in all things. It’s universe, God, source, higher power, whatever verbiage, whatever concept you connect with, it doesn’t really matter. But it’s seeing that in the physical life, there are things that we see with our physical eyes, but there is more to perceive from an energetic standpoint, from a spiritual standpoint, this is the expanded vision. This is what the yogis and the gurus talked about and the opening of the third eye.
Kimberly:(01:11):And when we start to see life with this expanded vision, we start to feel more connection, more love, more joy, more bliss. In other words, all of the emotions, all of the feelings, all of the states of being that we crave and we want, we desire, This is a whole different way of living life. And so we want to bring spirituality into our life. We wanna meld the spiritual and the physical. We don’t wanna compartmentalize. We don’t wanna just have that one hour that we go to service or synagogue or church or temple or wherever you go. If you practice any of that or have a meditation and then don’t bring it into the rest of your life, or don’t think about spirituality of again, or for the day or for the week, we wanna start bringing this into our lives moment to moment. This expanded vision gives us great comfort and strength and solace.
Kimberly:(02:18):When things don’t go our way or in our timeframe or exactly what we plan. There’s lots of ups and downs. There’s lots of grittiness and stickiness in life. And this expanded vision gives us so much resiliency and so much inner peace. Peace and love cannot be found outside of ourselves that creates attachment where we’re so attached to our dog or we’re so attached to our child, or to this food, or to this relationship, or to this whatever it is that we think that’s where it’s coming from. But it isn’t coming from inside of us. It’s coming from
Kimberly (02:58):Inside. And some people and situations and things, of course trigger us to feel what’s already inside of us. But the amazing thing about spirituality and letting it run through our lives is that we become empowered to feel the true self. We feel spirit inside of us. It creates self-reliance, it creates true strength. And whilst we love to share and connect with others, we realize that we don’t really need anything outside our strength, our true anchor, our sanctuary is on the inside.

This is how we spread the love.
Kimberly:(04:05):This is how we expand. This is part of expanding the vision beyond the little me, beyond the ego, into the hole we share with all our brothers and sisters. And so it could be a screenshot, could be a link, whatever. Just pass it along. It’s a wonderful way to expand. Please also subscribe for your own self care. Get Your Copy Of YOU ARE MORE
Kimberly:(04:05):And finally, a little reminder to also, please pick up a copy of the new book. You Are More More Than You Think You Are – Practical Enlightenment For Everyday Life. If you wanna dive deeper with me, you can also submit questions about it, about the teachings, about what we’re doing, what we’re talking about there. It is so powerful, these ancient teachings, when you start to live them, this is what realization is, small practical ways, tiny things that feel small, but they add up.
Kimberly:(05:01):So there’s truth. But then as Paramahansa Yoon taught us, when you apply it to your life, it becomes realization, it becomes an experience. And then you start to see your life transforming from an experiential, from an actual standpoint. You see that you feel the transformation. So it’s called you are more than you think you are. It’s available wherever books are sold.
Question around the topic of: 4 Small Spiritual Steps that Result in Big Changes in Your Life: I am interested in becoming a more spiritual person, but find it hard to get started. What are some simple things I can do to get started on a more spiritual path?
Kimberly:(05:01): All right, let’s get into our topic today. Four small spiritual steps that result in big changes in your life. So our question comes from Susan, who lives in Oregon. Hi Susan. Sending you lots of love. Thank you so much for being part of our community. Thank you so much for being here. And your question is, I’m interested in becoming a more spiritual person, but find it hard to get started. What are some simple things I can do to get started on a more spiritual path?
Kimberly(06:01): I love this question, Susan. The interest inside of you is your soul longing for that deep connection to self self with a capital S. This is the true self. This is spirit running through you. This is not about what you look like beyond your body, beyond your achievements, beyond your work, beyond these numbers and all the definitions, there is an essence inside of you. There is the energy, the aliveness, the formless energy. And that is really and truly who we are. So when we long to feel more of that, it means we’re coming home to ourselves. And so it becomes a way of living. It becomes integrated into our lifestyle to be truly well, to truly feel good, we feel connected. So this is a very practical, wonderful topic to talk about. Or spirituality can feel a bit esoteric, but it can be very practical. And this is the teachings here that we really practice. And it’s also not about religion or structure per se, which can be part of your practice as well. But spirituality is, again, it’s about expanded vision. It’s celebrating the energy, the higher intelligence, the divine in all things. And so it is a way of deeply connecting.
#1. Spiritual Step that Results in Big Changes in Your Life: Morning meditation
Kimberly(07:34): So four small steps that we can take. The first step, and this is perhaps the most important, is the morning meditation. So you guys who are listening here have heard me talk about this before, but it is so powerful. It is the most important first step we can take. According to Yogananda, when we wake up in the morning, we’re more clear. We’re not clogged up yet with lots of different thought patterns and ideas, triggers, meetings, emails, social media, things that have come at us. So we’re in a more settled place. It’s also a sort of new Year’s because we’ve come from this altered state of consciousness of sleep. So we can create a new day, we can create a new energy. So what I recommend is meditating as close as possible to when you wake up. So we’re talking about small steps here. So your morning meditation could be three minutes, it could be five minutes.
Kimberly(08:38): The Practical Enlightenment Meditations that are free on our app and on our site are about seven ish minutes. So you can just come into posture and get right into it. And I really recommend doing this before you eat, maybe you have to pee or go to the bathroom, but not getting swept up into all the activity and the getting on your phone and all of that. We really just wanna drop in. And what happens, we get into our spine, we get into our central nervous system. Our energy isn’t all just completely flowing outward to the senses. And externally, we’re starting to starting the day with this deep sense of rootedness. And it changes us. It grounds us. We breathe down into our lower belly. You feel the power of your own groundedness, your moula, Dara chakra being the anchor to yourself. And then we breathe all the way up and feel the connection in the crown of your head against central nervous system.
Kimberly(09:41):Your spine, your brain is our connection to spirit and source. So yoga Nada teaches that we literally pull an energy, our life force, our prana in the back of the skull. There’s a little notch if you feel, down at the base where your neck connects to your head called your medulla. And so it is through this. That’s why posture is really important. When you meditate, when you straighten your spine, when you breathe, you pull in pr, you get a deep nourishment that does not come from food and air alone. And Jesus said, We live from not just bread alone. He’s saying we live from the energy of spirit. We connect to the energy of spirit when we meditate. Meditation is not just about relaxing. That’s part of it that naturally happens because we’re withdrawing our energy from the frenetic external world. But deeper sense, meditation is about union, Yoga is about union. It’s between us and spirit. And so when we start the day, again, small steps, it could be just two minutes or three minutes, but we get into this practice, we get used to it, and then we can build over time.
#2. Spiritual Step that Results in Big Changes in Your Life: Morning prayer
Kimberly(10:44):I Number two, start with a prayer in the morning or intention for the day. So this can precede your meditation as it does for me. It’s separate in a sense, but it, it’s interconnected. So a prayer or this is how I think of prayer, is bringing my hands together in angel moodra or prayer prose, your palms pressing. There’s something about calling the energy in into your heart. And of course there’s a million different ways to pray, but I like to do it organically, as Yoda says, in the language of your own heart. So it doesn’t feel like I’m just repeating something just sort of mindlessly or as an automatic thing, but it’s really coming from this deep place.
Kimberly(11:54):And I pray for guidance. I pray for connection and intuition throughout the day, whatever’s coming up. And so it really does shift the day when we start with intention, how we start anything has an influence on the whole thing. So that’s why it’s powerful to start the morning in this directed way. It’s powerful to create New Year’s resolutions, even though we don’t always follow them, But it’s the start of the year. It’s the start of a cycle. So we can do that every single day with prayer, connecting with spirit, turning the energy inward. And you could make a little ritual out of this. You could light a candle, you could stand before an altar of sorts, which could be pictures, resonate with you, your guides, whatever your personal practice is, crystals, whatever, centering energy. And you can just take a moment and really ground in.
#3. Spiritual Step that Results in Big Changes in Your Life: Acknowledgement of source and gratitude before meals
Kimberly(12:59): Number three, acknowledgement of source and gratitude before meals. So what I like about this is a couple things we’re going to eat during the day. So it becomes this actual juncture of time that we train ourselves, Oh, I’m about to eat. Let me come back to source. Let me be grateful here. And as we mentioned at the top of the show, we don’t want, we don’t want to compartmentalize. We don’t wanna say, Okay, here’s my spiritual practice. And then there’s the rest of my day, which gets really busy and I’m working and I’m juggling, and I’m running after my kids, I’m doing all this. And then spirit and spirituality just becomes this distant memory. We eat whenever you eat, whenever you have a snack, even when you sip water, you know it’s up to you. But putting things into your body, which we acknowledge, it all comes from source.
Kimberly(13:55): And so it’s a beautiful time to think of gratitude, to acknowledge this greater hole that we’re a part of, this collective, this divine intelligence that runs through all things. We take that time to be grateful and it transforms the meals. It brings spirit into your life in a regular way throughout the day. I love to do, We do this at dinner as well. We say grace, Usually I say grace, and then we go around and say what we’re grateful for. But beyond that, when I’m alone eating during the day as I usually am, I will take that moment silently to bring my hands together and to acknowledge the potency and the incredible infinite blessings and gifts that we are all given. We’re so humbly grateful to have access to food and to put that into our bodies, and even to be alive and to be breathing, to be nourished. It was a wonderful, wonderful practice. And then number four, and I would also say that if you like this idea of tying acknowledgement into specific things, you can also tie it into your workout routine before you move your body or before you bathe or whatever other daily events you also like to tie it into.
#4. Spiritual Step that Results in Big Changes in Your Life: Practice seeing source and light and the core of all people
Kimberly(14:57): So another step, the fourth and final step, a small step, but it’s a profound step, is practice seeing source and light and the core of all people. So this can be you’re talking to someone and you can just for a moment, flicker of acknowledgement like, Oh, here’s this being of spirit of source right before me. The light is inside of them. So it starts to convert ordinary interactions into spiritual interactions. Because this mantra, nama mu, I bow down to the light inside of you. It means that we literally see the truth, this expanded vision, that spirit is inside everybody.
Kimberly(16:15): We are all equal. Sometimes people are abrasive or challenging or trigger us, and that’s okay. We don’t have to be best friends with them. But if we get into this practice, just normal conversation, we’re checking out the grocery line, seeing people at the post office, people passing us on the sidewalk, other parents at your child’s school. If we get into this practice as much as we can, you can acknowledge them and see them, but really see them really even for a flicker of a moment, acknowledge, Oh, source isn’t this person. There’s light here, there’s light here. Again, it starts to transform interactions. It starts to really transform your life, reemerging, this physical world with the spiritual reality. That source is in all people and all things. And it’s so beautiful and it’s so powerful. And again, it just transforms everything. It can really elevate your day. So there’s lots of other tools that we offer you over on the site, as well as the show notes, other podcasts, articles, recipes, meditations, as I mentioned, and more of mysolluna.com. Please let me know how else I can continue to support you. We’re here to share and support each other. And these
Kimberly (17:48): Cornerstones are so sacred and so important that we, you really are taking care of yourself on all levels. This spiritual one is the game changer, and it starts to really unite the other ones. It transforms the way that we eat, transforms our bodies, transforms our emotional capacity and resiliency and maturity. So please check out all our spiritual resources, including the meditations, including the new book. And I’d love to chat with you further about this topic. And again, see any questions you have sending you so much love, so much gratitude. Thank you for being here with me. I’m so honored and joyful about our connection. So Monday, we will be back for our next interview. Till then, take great care Namaste and Mahi via.
