I really love skin and talking about skin as a barometer for our internal state of wellbeing and health across our Cornerstones. Yes, what we are eating, what we are doing physically, the quality of our circulation, the quality of our digestion, however, also as a barometer into our stress levels and our emotional states. If we are emotionally regulated, if we have emotional intelligence and wellbeing, or if we’re really stressing ourselves out or disconnected, that also shows up in our skin.
It’s really important that we take care of ourselves, really nourish ourselves across all Four Cornerstones. And then we start to see these really tangible benefits, things that we really want. We want to feel good in our skin. We want to have smooth glowing skin, and feel confident when we’re talking to people. We want these everyday things which are all interrelated into how we’re really caring for ourselves and our overall health across the Four Cornerstones of, food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth.

Namaste loves and welcome back to our Thursday q and a show where our topic today is 5 Tips on How To Improve Your Skin in Just a Few Days. So I really love skin and talking about skin, and also as a barometer for our internal state of wellbeing and health across our cornerstones. Yes, what we are eating, what we are doing physically, the quality of our circulation, the quality of our digestion, but also as a barometer into our stress levels and our emotional states. If we are emotionally regulated, if we have emotional intelligence and wellbeing, or if we’re really stressing ourselves out or disconnected, that also shows up in our skin. So I love talking about this because we are so in tune with the most of us. I would say a lot of us, at least very in tune with the quality of our skin at any given time.
And so our skin can really give us a lot of information, and this, to me, speaks louder than just relying on quantitative data, although that can be very helpful as well. But there are qualities and ways in which we can really know our own skin health. And if our skin is glowing, if it’s looking more Z or ragged or whatever is going on intuitively, we can perceive and understand a lot from the quality of our skin. And again, um, not just rely on quantitative data, although the two can be combined, but every day we look in the mirror <laugh> and we see what’s going on, and our skin is our largest organ. And so our skin can reflect a lot of what is going on on the inside. And so it’s really important that we take care of ourselves, really nourish ourselves for across all four cornerstones.
And then we start to see these really tangible benefits, things that we really want. We wanna, we wanna feel good in our skin, we wanna have smooth skin, we wanna glow, we wanna feel confident when we’re talking to people. We wanna look great in photos, you know, so these everyday things which, you know, re reflect and they’re all interrelated. So we talk about going really deep here, and we’re gonna talk about our spiritual connection to our formless cells, to our heart, to our intuition. But on the surface, it’s not that we discount these things. We see the state of our skin, we see the state of our hair, we see how bright our eyes are, we see what our weight is, and this is all, um, part of this is all interrelated into how we’re really caring for ourselves and our overall health across the four cornerstones, food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. So I’m really excited to talk about this topic today and things that you can start to see in a few days, lifestyle choices and the impact that can be made and seen visibly. So this is super exciting.

All right, let’s get into our show today. Five tips on how to improve your Skin in just a few days. So we’re gonna link to some research in the show notes, which will be put up on our website, mysolluna.com, which is our hub for everything. If you’re new to the show, just wanna mention that as well. Our website has articles, it has recipes, it has elixir recipes, food me recipes, free guided meditations, and always the show notes. And also a place on there where you could submit questions for future shows. So we’re gonna put up the research. And what’s interesting is that skin has been confirmed in research to be an immediate stress perceiver and a target of stress responses.
So there is a lot that science has been able to measure in terms of the skin, in terms of how it is involved in reactivity and in stress. And so, for instance, a study from Stanford found that during exam time, students who felt more stressed had more, had severe acne breakouts. And so there was a correlation to literally this physical thing. We can see skin, acne, <laugh>, pimples because of stress that started in the mind. And so, um, we’ll continue, I’ll continue to, um, go into the research now as we get into our tips and, and kind of include that. But I just want to make clear that wow, the fact that so much of this is starting to be documented that shows the interlinking of all these different parts of our wellness, which may be in the past were really treated as separate. Here’s my skin health, here’s my stress, here’s my diet, here’s my exercise, here’s my relationships. And now, just like everything we talk about, we can’t escape the fact that we are whole beings. And so if we wanna have great skin, we want to take a whole based approach or what I call holism.
Tip #1 for 5 Tips on How To Improve Your Skin in Just a Few Days: Food
So the first, let’s go, you know, we’re gonna kind of go around the clock here in the <laugh>, uh, cornerstones, but we’re gonna add in some interesting takeaways. So the first is, you know, let’s just start there with food. And this is really the first place that I started in my journey. It was this, you know, obvious place I knew that needed improvement. I was, at the time when I was getting really severe acne, I was eating a lot of dairy and a lot of gluten, and I was a vegetarian, but I was having a lot of dairy and I was, you know, a flexitarian. I sometimes I would eat eggs and chicken, although I’d never eat a lot of red meat, but I was having a lot of diet soda and I was in that mode of let’s slash calories and trying to eat less and get skinny, but wow, did my skin look like crap? <laugh>.
So if we want to have great skin and we wanna see that visible effect quickly, and just so you know, it’s not that we’re trying to race to get somewhere. We’re not doing this as a fat diet. The benefit, and I’ve seen this with clients, is that when we see tangible results, it is often a very powerful motivator to keep going. So right away we wanna start adding in that beautiful nutrient dense, glowing green smoothie. We wanna make sure that we are able to really ingest this vibration, this energy from nature, which does go beyond quantitative measures. It is quantitatively measured in terms of the fiber intake and the amount of, you know, ca vitamin K or vitamin C and vitamin E and the amount of the minerals and things like that. But there’s also just this energy, this prana, this vitality that comes into our beings when we eat colorful natural foods.
We are taking in light, we are taking in the sun energy, which is transfixed here, planet earth, through the processes of, of, um, photosynthesis and chlorophyll. There’s an energetic quality which creates an energetic glow to your skin. So we can reduce it down to numbers and we can look at it that way, which is fine too, if you have a very discerning mind. Or we can just say these colors, this energy, this freshness, this directness from nature. So fiber and color is what I wanna focus. What I want you to focus on when you’re thinking about improving your skin quickly. Okay, so g g s, colorful salads, colorful veggie veggies that you throw into a veggie soup, perhaps maybe you have a stew for dinner tonight. Um, I made a salad last night with so many different colors. There was purple microgreens. There is the tan, not, not so colorful, but the hemp seeds. And then lots of different greens, which are beautiful, bright red goji berries, right? So in all the ways in which we cook and prepare foods, lots of colors, lots of whole veggies for that fiber, which is going to cleanse your system to allow this natural vitality, this natural radiance, this natural beautiful glow, this light to come through your skin and out into the world.
Tip #2 for 5 Tips on How To Improve Your Skin in Just a Few Days: Hydration
Number two is skin hydration. Hydration all around is really, and I wanna point out this study which will also link into the show notes, which is really interesting here, which is that skin hydration was found to decrease with sleep restriction. This means a, uh, after one day of participants, um, decreasing their sleep. So not having as layman’s terms not sleeping enough, it was found that elastic elasticity and skin hydration actually reduced. So this just shows how integrated and connected all parts of our lifestyle are. But we want our skin to be hydrated. So this means many things. It means that we drink water, we start the day with hot water, with lemon room temperature, water, as I was saying now, wow, we need to sleep, which actually affects how well our skin is hydrated and able to hold onto moisture. There’s science to this, it’s really interesting. Sometimes we don’t think that things are interrelated, but they are so sleep and, you know, really making sure that we are drinking water.
So this is an off sighted analogy. The difference between a grape and a raisin is the hydration levels. We do not wanna be wrinkled and lined prematurely. We don’t wanna have that unhealthy haggard ness that comes from just not having enough moisture in our system. By the way, when we are adequately hydrated, our skin not only functions well, but our fascia is more supple and flexible. We have less aches and pains in our body. We have lower level levels of fatigue. So this radiance in this glow coming out of our skin will also be accompanied with greater energy, more shakti, more life force. So keep drinking all the, you know, the warm room temperature, water, you know, back to the smoothies and the juice. And we’ll say again, the waterfall cleanse is a wonderful way to really up your hydration levels because we’re gonna be really focusing on replenishment and renewal for three days. So this is a really important part of making sure that your skin looks amazing pretty quickly.
Tip #3 for 5 Tips on How To Improve Your Skin in Just a Few Days: Skincare
Number three, use skincare. That works. And so we have our own Solluna Skincare, which I’m partial to, but I’m also here to share all that I have found and discovered that really profoundly helps. And one of the things that happens with skincare, and you may or may not be aware of this, is that we don’t really absorb it a lot of the time. And so this is very similar to how we don’t really, um, absorb all that we eat. We not are, we are not what we eat, we are what we digest and assimilate. And so in a similar vein, we don’t want to, um, or we need to make sure that we are exfoliating, first of all to get the dead skin cells off to go deeper.
And we can do that in many ways. There’s many different exfoliation products out there, or you can just take a warm washcloth and gently rub your face in the shower. Anything that’s helping to remove the dead skin on top is really important. And then we wanna use products and tools that work. We have our Solluna, um, my favorite product is the feel good, um, vitamin C serum, which is very brightening and it’s got stable vitamin C, whereas a lot of skincare products have vitamin C that is not stable. So it degrades just by sitting in the bottle. The other skincare that I am obsessed with is called droplet, and it is designed by m i t scientists that were actually designing a product to get in medicine for, I believe it was diabetes, um, pediatric foot tumors, if I’m correct. Tip #4 for 5 Tips on How To Improve Your Skin in Just a Few Days: Supplements and digestion
Number four, supplements and digestion. So beautiful skin does start from the inside out, and that’s something that we can’t get away from. I know so many people and amazing makeup artists that do magic with these products and these incredible foundations they have now and all these things. But the glow <laugh>, the real glow has to built from the inside out.
And we recently had Darin Olien on the podcast who is an amazing superfood hunter, and he just released this book called Fatal Conveniences. It’s really about all the toxicity in the world and how this relates to your skin. Is that the world today, the modern world has so much for your body, your liver, your system, this onslaught that we’re expected to metabolize. And it really doesn’t because there’s just so many chemicals in food and water and the supplies of, you know, just everything. Air pollution, household cleaning products, everything. I mean, you step into a car, you go into an Uber, you go into a store, you hug a friend, all the perfume, it’s just like so much that comes at us, all the dime. So the supplements that focus on supporting your body in the systemic level are really important for resilience, including skin resilience.
So here, you know, this is where I I from my heart, I say to you guys, I don’t take a lot of supplements. I don’t spend a lot of money on a lot of supplements, and I don’t encourage that. I think there’s like crazy things that are being marketed out there, and I see it every day. Someone that works in wellness, I see, oh, like I’m not even gonna get into it, but supplements that are the real minutia and then we’re expected to take like 60 pills a day, and I don’t believe in that. We to be naturally healthy. We want to align to nature and live as naturally as possible in all the ways. Number five, stress. I put stress, relationships, meditation and journaling. What this means is this is well documented in many clinical research studies. Um, there is, you know, here, I’ll, I’ll link to some right into the, the show notes because I don’t wanna go too long into the studies, but just rest assured that there is a lot in there, um, about stress. So stress starts in stress in the mind <laugh>, it starts in the mind, right? It is not the rain or the traffic that’s making you stressed.
It is the reaction. It’s something that clicks from a pattern in the mind, some type of neural pathway that says, oh, this happened in the past, this is how I react, or there’s fear from the past. This is gonna happen in the future. I’m gonna get messed up, da da da da. So I jump to do this, right? It’s a internal emotional, mental reaction. So we wanna make sure, and then what happens is it starts to create this cascade of stress hormones, cortisol, blood flow and circulation are shifted away from the gi tract. Fight or flight starts. The parasympathetic and the sympathetic nervous system gets outta whack. A million different things are happening in your body. So we want to get to that root because if that continues, this creates the aging in your skin that none of us wants. This starts to create that brittle hair that none of us wants.
It’s just awful. This creates bloating. We literally have, um, digested distress when we are stressed. So what we wanna do is we wanna look at our relationships or close relationships. Are they healthy, are they not? So some relationships like friends, we can start to, um, move this away from, you know, spending so much time with friends that don’t really feel supportive or really negative. But if it’s our partner, if it’s a family member, we wanna see, hey, how do I create healthy boundaries or a different type of dialogue or communication? Maybe there’s therapy we need to do together. We wanna take action steps for stressors or perceived stresses in our life. So we’re less susceptible to all the stressors in the outside world. We also wanna make sure that we’re journaling, finding ways to digest what happens to us on a mental and emotional level every day because that ends up accumulating and that propels us into stress response. If it just gets too much. Therapy can really be really great. And there’s so much teletherapy now and ways in which we can reach out to counselors and therapists right from our own home. So I encourage you to check that out as well. Of course there’s community and friends and support systems that we can build, but just remember that in a few days, if you are finding ways to feel lighter, you’re meditating, you’re journaling, you’re, you know, just creating community around your skin will look better. I promise. <laugh> it feels like, oh my gosh, how does this stuff work?
And I’m telling you, all is energy, all is chi. Everything goes back to this fundamental underlying energy matrix of all things. So as we start to change our energies, we start to make shifts across our cornerstones. Food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. These cornerstones merge into this circle of wholeness that is you, you at the center, you and your fullest potential, and you with gorgeous, beautiful, bright, glowing skin. So let’s review our core points today. Food. Let’s focus on colors, which indicates antioxidants and a different wider range of capturing the light spectrum. This incredible, uh, potential energy that will go in and renew and refurnish and rejuvenate your skin as well as fiber to really, uh, fuel your gut and your overall system. Cleansing your system of toxins and also creating this anti-inflammatory effect systemically. Number two, hydrate all day long. Drink your water, drink your GGS.
Take your electrolytes if you need to on top of that. And also be sure to sleep well. Number three, use skincare that works.
