Hello, and welcome to our Monday solocast, where our topic this week is Four Cornerstone Summer Vitality Tips to Look and Feel Your Best. And I’m so excited to share this solo cast with you. I am speaking to you from my porch here in Hawaii. And many of the things that I’m gonna talk to you about today are ones that I’ve been living over the last few weeks. And I just feel really inspired about shifting our whole lifestyle for summer. I feel really inspired from spending so much time in nature here. And so I really wanna share some of these ways that I’ve been able to really elevate my own vitality. And of course, impart that to you. So you can do the same in your amazing life and your amazing body. So the keyword here is lifestyle because as we always talk about here in our Solluna community, we approach things from our four cornerstone perspective, which is food body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth.
We believe that when we take care of ourselves in a holistic way, we are able to feel our full potential. We’re able to actually feel our best versus if we just focus on food and diet, which we are gonna talk about today, but it’s not the only thing that makes us feel good. We need to take care of our stress levels, our emotional wellbeing, our self connection, which falls into the spiritual growth cornerstone. We need to take care of our bodies and so on and so forth.
Please leave a review on iTunes
So we’re gonna cover all of that today. I’m very excited, but before we get into our show, want to give a little reminder to please leave us a review on iTunes or wherever you listen to your podcast, wherever you listen to our podcast, which is a really beautiful, important way to support the show. It just helps to keep the show going.
It helps other amazing souls. Like you find the show and hopefully benefit them in their lives. So it only takes a minute or two, and I appreciate it so much also, please be sure to subscribe to our show and that way you don’t miss out on any of these pod, uh, interviews or solo casts or our Q&A shows, which are on Thursdays, it just keeps you in the flow. It means you don’t have to think you don’t have to click or make decisions and go back and forth. You just get this flow of inspiration. And so it’s a really great health care and self care tool. And finally, I urge you to please share our show with anyone that you think would vibe with it. It could be a friend, coworker, neighbor, whoever you can just take a screenshot, pass it along, or send a link or whatever it is, but sharing knowledge and resources is such a great thing to do to help others. It’s so much more powerful than just giving someone a, you know, a finite gift in many ways, because you’re passing along a source, a flow again of self care. So I encourage you to share the show and I thank you so much in advance for doing that.

And finally, I will remind us all at the top of the show that it is a great time for a summer reading and summer reflection. And sometimes we don’t think about self-improvement until it’s January and new year’s. But I would say that this time of year and summer, when we are in the peak of light and in many ways, just this expansive energy, it’s a great time to take on more tools and more wisdom and information. And so I would like to offer you my new book, which is called You Are More More Than You Think You Are – Practical Enlightenment For Everyday Life, which is available anywhere, books are sold, and it really delves into how to create your epic, successful life, whatever that means to you in terms of the endeavors that you wanna pursue.
And also increasing levels of peace, joy, creativity, and so on. And the great part about it from a practical standpoint for summer reading is that the chapters are short, but have practical teachings and practices. So you can really take one chapter at a time in a bite size chunk and work with it. So check it out and let me know what you think.
Solocast: Four Cornerstone Summer Vitality Tips to Look and Feel Your Best
Okay. So let’s get right into our show today, summer lifestyle tips to feel your best. And when we talk about the cornerstone, I usually usually like to talk about food first, because it is, um, physical and dense. And it’s easier to wrap the mind around, I think when we’re just starting a discussion sometimes because we all need to eat and it’s, um, in many ways, just easier to grasp these concepts around food. And I’m always inspired by the teachings of the vadas and ancient India, which is where I really get my roots from and my initial reasons for going plant based where yogurt reasons to improve meditation and to improve overall energy.
And all of the, I was just rereading the Gita as I do over and over again. And there is so much in the Geeta around food and the energies around food and how to eat. And so it is very important that we talk about food from this standpoint, not just a collection of numbers, but really understanding that in order to feel our best for summer, we wanna promote the energy of summer when I think of summer. And, you know, think about what brings to mind, what it brings to mind for you. There’s a lightness to it. There’s a flow, there’s an easefulness. We tend to be outside in nature more and in the sun. And so we wanna bring in foods that really support that energy. Otherwise we wanna feel light, but if we’re eating really stagnant foods or heavier foods that we tend to eat in the fall or in the winter, but we’re bringing that into a different season.
It can really create disharmony from an energetic standpoint. So this is the season to load up on seasonal fruit. And I say seasonal because I am extra inspired being here in Hawaii. And literally I’m so humbly grateful that I walk around our land here. I walk down the street, pushing mosey and the stroller, and Bubby’s riding his bike and there’s literally fruit raining from the trees. So I’ll reach up and just grab guava and avocados. And the mangoes just fall right now, it’s mango season. So we’re just, it’s really cute. Mosey is able to just, he sees us eating them all the time. So he just picks up mangoes, make sure there isn’t a hole from one of the chickens that are wild chickens that are all around and he just knows how to rip it open. And he just, but goes right into it and eats it like an apple.
So there is such an incredible quality to freshly picked fruit and our Uve medicine. Theves talk about fruit being the highest vibration fruit is the pinnacle. I watch my apple trees back in California and the, the flowers come, which are beautiful, but when the flowers drop off, then the fruit comes. So imagine the real pinnacle of nature is in the fruit. So it does take some extra effort to go to the farmer’s market or to go to little local smaller markets. If they’re around you, if it’s possible, or to join a CSA where the fruit and the veggies are very freshly picked, but it is worth the effort, especially this time of year in order to really support this energy of summer and this vitality and any potential breakthroughs that you can have as far as just clarity in your goals or reaching new Heights in your health, shedding, old emotions.
Um, just, there’s so many things that can happen in summer because we are in this peak light. And it’s a really great time to support your body with seasonal fruit and to add it into your glow and green smoothie. So if you get into these periods where you’re just used to buying the apples and I get into them too, which of course store year round, this is the time to say to yourself as I’ve been doing here in Hawaii. Well, I don’t have to put so much effort, but even back home, I’m really inspired to not just go to the farmer’s market as a novelty or something I do sometimes. But to really integrate this practice as an important one, to feel our very best fresh picked food is very different. So whatever you have access to, and I know it varies depending where you live, but if there’s any way to make friends with local farmers or to put in a little bit more effort, it is so worth it.
And I’ll also say that along those lines, we have made really good friends with our neighbors here, and they have one of our neighbors has an incredible organic garden. So we donate to the garden and in turn, I just get boxes and boxes of veggies and kale and water CREs and charred and spinach and tomatoes and carrots and all these amazing veggies. And it’s, you know, it’s, it’s available if we seek it out, hopefully again, not always, always, but whatever you can do to get the freshest fruit right now is going to really, really support your vitality along those lines. The, my favorite salad dressing right now, I wanna share because there is another neighbor has this lime tree and every morning we go on a walk down the driveway and I’ll pick a lime or two and add it into my veggies, whatever my chopped greens are.
And so my favorite dressing right now is simply lime, a little bit of sea salt and a little bit of olive oil, and it’s so fresh and it’s like the sun. And so I encourage you to try these really simple lemon or lime based dressings, which are so great for your body, for cleansing cleansing. The heaviness. We know that lemon especially is so high in vitamin C and enzymes for your liver. So the more simple the dressing can be and moving away from packaged dressings that have, that have vegetable oils that are high in omega sixes, which can be, um, an imbalance in the body and create inflammation and all sorts of preservatives and additives. And it’s really unnecessary when you feel the freshness of just beautiful, fresh greens, again, with a simple vinegarette of olive oil, sea salt and whatever you’re using lemon or lime, or even an orange, any sort of citrus. It’s so wonderful. And it really does, um, work well right now in summertime.
So another, um, food, uh, more specific food that I’d like to, um, call in right now, or I’d like to bring up is Shia pudding <laugh>. And it’s funny in my life how some recipes cycle in and out, and I’m not into them for a while, but they tend to come back and Shia pudding is one of those recipes for me, and I’m super intuitive it right now. And I think intuitively when we think about chia seeds and the fact that they have a whole mix of, um, soluble and insoluble fiber, which is very cleansing for your system,
The fact that they are incredibly malleable to flavors. So I like to blend some sort of nut based milk with Kaka and their coconut sugar or raw honey. I do eat raw honey personally, and just soak them. It’s so delicious. And it’s a, it’s really like an ice cream replacement. I would say for me, because I keep them in the fridge. I keep the putting in the fridge. So that’s cool. And there’s that creaminess and you’re eating it with a spoon and that soluble fiber and the insoluble fiber is really cleansing, which I think is such an important theme right now to help us feel light. So you can have that flavor, like you’re having a treat, but you’re not weighing yourself down with, you know, commercial sugars and also, um, you know, dairy or just any sort of heaviness and additives. And so it’s a wonderful dessert.
I encourage you to check out. We have recipes on our site at mysolluna.com and my very first book, the VD detox solution has an original chia putting recipe in it actually <laugh> that I’ve been making now for well over 10 years. So that does bring up a point about the chia putting and the cleansing, which is so important right now, the segues into the body cornerstone about really making sure that we are releasing more, having more bowel movements. So right near in Hawaii, I wanna feel really light I’m in that waterfall water all the time, or I’m at the beach. And I just it’s this time of year, we wanna feel light we’re in bikinis and running around and just the energy of life right now. And so I really encourage you to take Detoxy, which is one of our very few supplements. You can check out on our website.
I’m taking it here practically every day, because whilst I’m having a lot of fiber, I’m sweating a lot. I’m doing my best to keep up with hydration, but, you know, just moving around and I have a sensitive GI tract. So I’m not someone that always goes completely to the bathroom if I’m moving around or traveling or whatever. So for me, it’s a lifesaver. So I just wanna bring that up to you that all these different mechanisms that I recommend to keep your bowel movements going, hydration, more fiber geo pudding, detox, all of that is wonderful, especially right now, as we are in the peak of summer. So now as we move into the body, cornerstone, this is a wonderful time to immerse your amazing, beautiful, unique body into the elements of nature. And what I mean by that is getting outside really shifting your exercise routine.
If you are used to going to the same class at the gym, and you really like your high fit, high intensity training, <laugh> whatever. And I know there’s so many different iterations of workouts, but maybe just being open to trying something new, more hiking, more walking, being outside has its own element, its own advantage. I think because we are exposed to the fresh air, it gives us vitamin D it’s getting some sunlight on your limbs, especially so healthy, so great for bone density and just so great for moods. You know, vitamin D is a hormone in so many ways. It helps to balance the body. And so just moving outside, I’ve been very active here in Hawaii without necessarily trying to be, but we do a lot of farming. So there’s just a lot of walking around the fields and digging and <laugh>, um, just carrying mosey around in the forest, camping.
So carrying things back and forth, I do a walk, which is a deliberate form of movement. But other than that, just being outside is so active in and of itself. So maybe thinking about creating some hobbies for yourself, like gardening, even if you don’t have a lot of space, you can just do a little bit, have some planters or some pots. It feels really good to get your hands into the dirt, into the soil. It’s a form of earthing. It’s a form of grounding. It’s a form of connection to the greater world around us, which creates a real stability in our system. When we realize we are part of the whole, we are not these isolated beings and there’s a great security that comes with that and the building of trust, because I think that when we don’t have trust of life and we feel disconnected, fear tends to build up more and more.
And so we stay in our patterns. We keep working out the same exact way we stay around the same exact people. We don’t try for our goals. We just keep it real safe. And so this sturdiness of being in the earth is really powerful and really beautiful. And to get your body out there also just being out in the fresh air and nice deep, full breaths. And there’s research out of ho uh, Hawaii, I’m in Hawaii, but there’s research out of Japan specifically around this concept of forest bathing and how healthy it is to just really breathe deeply into forests. And I believe that the research they did was specifically around pine forests, but to think that anywhere that you can get into a trail or a park, even if you live in an urban center and just really start to open up your lungs and to be outside, I mean, this is just healing body care for your, for your body, which goes beyond again, we always talk about here in our community, going beyond numbers. It’s not just burning the calories on that workout machine, but really integrating with nature and allowing your body to rest and rejuvenate and yet be active and be outside. And it will just feel so good and so healing to your body.
So our next cornerstone is emotional wellbeing. And right now this is a great time to again, go into the energy of summer, which is lightness. Lightness means flow, which is our theme this month in the Solluna Circle. So if you’re interested in learning about how to live more in flow, please check it out. It’s our online community program, which you can find on our Sal Luna app and the app store. It’s a beautiful, supportive community of like-minded souls. And lightness means that again, this is the peak lightness. So literally the sun is out later and there’s more sunlight. And this means that we tend to feel lighter. We tend to not feel dragged down as much by shadows. We’re not pulled into shadow work as much right now. Um, unless you’re specific specifically called to working out something in your life. But this is a time when we wanna embrace this lightness.
And so part of that is letting go of things to be more light. So this means in everyday life, when something starts to feel a little bit stuck, it could be as simple as, oh, they didn’t have my favorite drink or my favorite meal at the restaurant, or your friend was 10 minutes late or something annoyed you in an email. It’s a great time to just pause and intentionally, ask yourself, do I wanna be stuck or do I wanna be late right now and move on? Right? Hopefully we choose the letting go part because there is this quality. One of the yoga qualities that’s talked about, the GTA is this, um, patience and this fortitude, and it’s about not being easily offended when we’re easily offended. Yo Nanda says we, we suffer so much. We silently suffer so much because we’re in our heads. We replay things over and over, which is the way of keeping the past in the present moment.
There’s a much heavier quality to this moment when we are stuck on things. And I know it’s not always easy to let go of everything in that moment. I certainly get triggered and, and annoyed as you know, by certain situations or certain people, but the more time goes on. And especially this time of year, it’s a great practice. It’s a great intention to set up for ourselves to just think about, I choose the light. I choose to be lighter right now. This is my summer. This is my time I wanna enjoy it. Being light is more important than, you know, I hate to be cheesy here, but being light is more important than being right. <laugh> right. It’s more joyful and more peaceful to just let go of things. Even if it doesn’t mean, you know, you, you might have done something differently or you might have said something differently or you’re more drawn to other people.
And some people don’t really, um, aren’t people that you would choose to be around more so to speak. You can still really enjoy lightness and choose it so much is about our intention. So much is about really exercising our power of choice. And so we can really choose lightness as a way of being this summer and notice what that does to your body. Notice how it opens up your cells. You just feel lighter. It could make it easier to lose weight. It’s been my personal experience. When I feel lighter in my mind, I just tend to eat lighter and I, my body feels light and I release more my bowel movements and there is more of a sense of flow. It’s really beautiful how everything does work synergistically. So try it just moving through life, being in flow and just try to be light. Try not to be offended by things. Try to be less sensitive. At least we’re not gonna be perfect. Of course, just like anything. But the more we try, the more we have that intention, the more we grow.
And so our last cornerstone is spiritual growth. And in the summertime, I think this is a great time to savor the very, um, expansive, energetic quality of gratitude. So remember when we’re talking about spiritual growth, we’re talking about self connection to the true self, which is who we are beyond the surface little tiny shell of what we look like and what we’re doing into the unbounded, energetic beingness of who we really are. And so when we start to peek under the hood and we start to connect, which is what I explained in my new book, you are more than you think you are. What happens is we start to get this flow of energy from the inside. And this is what really did happen in my life. And this is everything I write about. As you know, dear friend is something I’m passionate about sharing from personal experience.
And so it was this big aha moment of like, oh, I can give myself the happiness. I don’t have to get it outside of me. And so the more we tune in to our own potential from the inside, the less we need from the outside. And then we feel lighter because we aren’t reliant on outside things or outside people to make us feel better or to compliment us or to agree with us. And so there’s just less heaviness in our relationships and there’s less heaviness in life because we don’t, we’re not so needy, we’re just more free of everything. We’re more detached. We’re more centered in the steadiness that comes from inside. And so the energy to focus on and feeling great for summer is gratitude, which is starts with gratitude lists. Perhaps for many of us, it starts with, oh, I’m grateful for this person.
I’m grateful for these things and we can list specific things. But as we journey deeper and deeper gratitude is actually an expansion of energy where we just are grateful for being alive. We are grateful for being here. We start to wake up to this incredible gift of just a aliveness, right? That’s it being this, not doing anything, not having anything. So we go beyond the gratitude lists. Eventually we can start to cultivate that energy, the, the above the mood of gratitude by of course writing lists or thinking about loved ones. But as we meditate deeper and deeper, we start to realize that just like peace and joy and love and all these other qualities that do not have to be specific, they do not have to attach to specific things the same as true of gratitude. It does not have to be for anything specific. We can just sit here in this moment being grateful. So let’s actually do that together. We’ll just do it for one moment, taking a deep breath in and a deep breath out
And just tuning into this incredible moment of being this. If you’re not driving, you can close your eyes for a moment, tune into your heart, just feel this aliveness in your body, feel life pulsing through you and all around you. And there’s so much magic happening. And we do not have to try to cling to anything. We don’t ha it doesn’t have to be specific. We can let things pass through, come in and out because our happiness and we realize, and what we’re grateful for is, is bigger. So much bigger than one specific thing. So we cultivate more of this energy and this embodiment of this energy through meditation. So another free tool I have for you is also on the Solona app, our practical enlightenment meditations, where you can sit and I guide you through our, um, steps of practical enlightenment meditation, helping you settle the body, and then doing some breath work to create stillness.
We never do breath work. That’s riling us up per se, but more coming into center. And then we speak the mantra. The I am form coming back into being this, coming back into connection with the true self. So you can check that out on our app. There’s a whole library of free meditations. If you’re interested and I will be adding some longer meditations, which has come from request from our community. So you can look out for that soon as well. And another thing I recommend this time of year and summer is to try meditating outside because it is so wonderful to be in the fresh air and to hear the birds around you. I’m not sure if you can hear the birds right now, my porch or the roosters. And just again, to be in this flow, the field is the term that you’ll hear in quantum physics as well.
Again, in my best friend here, the GTA, which is on my desk right now, Ketra I think is the Sandri word. So the field, the more we tune into the field, the more we’re able to create, the more we’re able to manifest what we want when we’re isolated, alone and rigid, and we’re trying to control things. And we’re in our heads all the time, thinking we’re cut off from the energetic harmony of all things, but the more we tune in, the more we harmonize and the more synchronicities tend to come in and there’s more of a flow to life. So I encourage you whenever possible to meditate outside. It’s such a beautiful time of year to do that and to just tune into the nature and the flow all around.
So I hope some of these spark your interest and inspire you to give them a go one’s ranging from our food, cornerstone body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. We have tons and tons of resources for you to support you in each of these areas in Solluna, in my lifestyle brand, which is why I created this brand to really have this holistic support.
