It is time for #featurefriday here on the blog! I’m happy to share with you the story of Rayma, a beautiful woman who was brought up vegetarian and found herself having to adapt to a huge lifestyle change when she moved to America. It’s truly empowering to see how Rayma overcame the obstacles that come with moving to another country and having to adapt to cultural norms here, while staying true to herself.
Today Rayma takes us through her journey from her early life in India to how she started following the Beauty Detox philosophy. I am so proud to see how far she has come! It is so important for all of us to share our journeys with one another, as we can all learn from each other and be a community full of strong supporters for one another.
Let’s Meet Rayma…
When I moved to the USA in my 20’s, I initially found it hard to adapt to the food that was predominantly meat. I would mostly eat home cooked meals and had very few choices while I dined out.
It wasn’t until my late 30’s that I stumbled upon Kimberly’s books and I was immediately hooked. I could relate to it immediately because of my background and my roots in India. I have made so many positive changes in my diet using Kimberly’s philosophy.
How long have you been following the Beauty Detox philosophy? Was it easy to incorporate it into your lifestyle?
I have been following the Beauty Detox philosophy for about 2 years now! I was born and brought up in India and have always been vegetarian all my life.
What is your daily regimen? Give us an example of a typical meal plan and exercise routines.
One of the first things I learned from Kimberly’s books was the fact that I did not have to load up on a heavy breakfast to feel energetic. I immediately invested in a Vitamix blender and have used it every day ever since.
I drink the Glowing Green Smoothie (or water with lemon when I travel). I also drink Kimberly’s Power Protein Smoothie every day. Kim’s books taught me about a variety of super foods and beauty foods.
I made space for a separate shelf in my food pantry and stocked it with these beauty super-foods. I mix and match different super-foods with fresh fruits and almond milk to make some delicious smoothies. I also make a kid’s version of smoothie for my boys and they drink it everyday!
For exercise, I enjoy jogging outside and do nature hikes whenever I get a chance. When I want to relax from a stressful day, I love to swim, do yoga or just meditate. I sometimes meditate for a few minutes mid-afternoon when I feel energy levels lower or feel the need for caffeine and I am recharged for rest of the day!
How do you feel after adopting the Beauty Detox lifestyle? What changes have you experienced?
After I adopted the Beauty Detox lifestyle, I realized it’s not just a beauty lifestyle but also health and happiness lifestyle. When we eat well, we feel well and it makes us happy. :)
I had several digestive issues in my early 30’s that showed no improvement with doctor visits. This lifestyle has taught me that health begins with the gut and I have never had any digestive issues since I started on this.
My skin care routine also got a ‘detox’ as a result. I tossed out all those skin care products, cosmetics with endless list of ingredients and I replaced it with simple oils such as organic jojoba and coconut oil. My skin never breaks out and feels youthful.
Compared to my late 20’s, my hair has gotten longer and healthier in my late 30’s. I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I can even do without coffee (which would have been next to impossible two years ago!). I also see a great improvement in my immunity even in severe winter weather.
I continue to enjoy reading Kimberly’s blogs as they always help me to make some small positive changes in day to day life.
What is your favorite recipe and why?
My favorite is Kimberly’s Power Protein Smoothie and Endurance Protein bars. As a vegetarian, they give me the protein and amino acid boost that I need. Plus it allows me to feel less hungry and energetic through the day!
Thank you Rayma!

Hey Kimberly! Thanks so much for sharing Rayma’s story. Hope all is going well. Also want to say thank you for sharing videos of your new addition and new chapter as a mommy. Baby Boy is beautiful! I was wondering and hoping if it wasn’t too much if you could possibly record a days worth of meal by meal video you try to have especially since baby boy! I recently started making the spring ggd everyday for the past 3wks and love it! I still feel I struggle with the rest of my day?. I also do the warm water w/ lemon in the mornings and salad for lunch. I too am breast feeding and want the best for baby boy. I also wanted to ask when or how often should we switch up our ggd? Can I continue with the spring ggd as is until summer and change again for the Fall etc? Hope I’m not asking for too much. Best always to you and baby?
Hi Alma and thanks for reading Rayma’s Transformation story. Congratulations on your new addition to the family, too. ;)
So happy to hear you’re incorporating the Spring GGS into your daily routine. You can switch up your greens weekly/biweekly, changing out romaine, spinach, kale and chard. You can also switch out fruits as well, according to the season.
Another option is to incorporate the Green Power Protein Smoothie and follow the meal plan, if you want to add in more protein.
So happy you wrote in and sending lots of love!
