Ready to boost your immunity, protect your skin and sleep better? It’s time you give my Kiwi-Mango Smoothie Recipe a try and start feeling better from the inside out!
No more excuses, when we have a plethora of smoothie recipes at our disposal. Let’s keep our summer (and our guts), packed with nutrients and not with sludge.
Sexy Seeded Fruit: Kiwi
This vibrant green exotic fruit is in no way ordinary. When sliced, kiwi’s have little black seeds that make this fruit a showcase on its own, and in many ah fruit bowls!
Kiwi has been highly valued for their medicinal properties since long ago. Said to be Chinese in origin, it also came to be known as the national fruit of New Zealand (known as yang tao or, Chinese gooseberry), and then reintroduced to the world as ‘kiwi’.
Over time, kiwi became popular among the Europeans and the Americans— using them in everything from cereals to desserts. Here are a few standout reasons why I love this speckled beaut!
Kiwis are packed with more vitamin C than an equivalent amount of orange—containing numerous phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals—promoting your overall health.
They have fiber—good for binding and removing toxins from you colon—staying youthful and vibrant, which is a key component of the Beauty Detox Solution lifestyle. In addition, fiber-rich foods, like kiwifruit, are good for keeping the blood sugar levels under control.
Want to help your digestion? Raw kiwi contains actinidain—a protein-dissolving enzyme—that helps digest your meals (similar to papain in papaya or bromelain in pineapple).
Kiwi’s also help to boost your immunity, due to their being high in vitamin C and other antioxidant compounds. They also protect your skin from degeneration, thanks to an excellent source of antioxidants found in vitamin E.
If you are coming out of the Blossoming Beauty phase and sensitive to sugar, you know that I advise slowly reintroducing fruit into your diet. Kiwi is one of the many great choices to add, since they are more sour and not as sweet—making it onto my list of fruits that are lower in sugar.
Beauty Fruit: Mango
Mango is one of the juiciest fruits, which makes them one of the most hydrating. And when we keep our bodies hydrated, we not only keep things moving internally but externally too, keeping our skin glowing!
Did you know that mangoes grow near the ocean (the mother of all bodies of water), making them one of the many tropical fruits that are packed with reproductive and creative power—all in their natural form?!
Not only are they juicy (when at their peak), their sweet and luscious flavor contains an abundance of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that aid in providing you with optimum health and beauty!
The bright orange-yellow mango contains vitamin C and is an amazing source of beta carotene—a natural antioxidant used by the body to make vitamin A. They do have naturally occurring fructose but this is outweighed when we consider their high antioxidant content and vitamin C.
Mangoes are also very low in saturated fat, low in cholesterol, and sodium, an excellent source of dietary fiber (crucial to regular and safe elimination), and have vitamin B6, vitamin A and vitamin C.
Mangoes are rich in minerals, like magnesium, potassium, and copper. These powerful antioxidants have the power to neutralize free radicals throughout the body—helping to fight against premature aging, that comes from free radicals that damage the cells.
How To Pick Mangoes
When you visit your local farmers market or grocery store, try to look for mangoes that have a stronger or more intense the color of the fruit (or vegetable), the higher the concentration of beta-carotene content.
Try to find more vibrant mangoes, like bright yellow (in the case of champagne), or red/green. There are so many different varieties, so try a few different kinds and see which is your favorite.
