Developing a meditation practice is an amazing tool to help attain your highest potential in all areas of your life, life your work! When we take time during the workday to stop working and focus on the present, it helps to create a stronger control of the mind’s function and productivity. By controlling senses and breathing, it’s easier to let go of thoughts and feelings of the past and future and train the brain to focus on what is happening in the present moment.
It Can Help You Focus and Support your Cognitive Function
Your focus will determine if you can get your project done, or if you can be lost staring onto a blank page with no idea of where to start. When you’re in a conference meeting, and you’re not focused, you may miss the entire point of the meeting and not be able to give any creative feedback or insight.

- Incorporating a little bit of meditation before the going to your desk will help!
It Helps to Stabilize Emotions
People with more mindful traits are better able to stabilize their emotions and have better control over their moods. The continuous nature of working full time, even part time, can cause a roller coaster of different emotions.
- Meditation helps you detach yourself from the negative thoughts that keep you from achieving your goals [5].
It Helps With Sleep
One night of lost sleep could wreak havoc on your work day. Quality sleep is one of the most valuable things every person should have.
- Practicing meditation has been associated with lower stress activation at bedtime, which benefits for higher sleep quality [6].

Meditation benefits have also been proven to help resolve workplace conflicts. These practices equip employees with better conflict management and interpersonal skills that make resolving issues easier for employees and managers alike [7].

The relaxation response can be accessed during times of conflict or stress in order to solve rationally instead of reacting emotionally with the fight or flight response.
