It’s going to be woven into future shows, of course, but there has been a focus on the heart with this book launch and with this information. And that is because I truly believe that for most people, including myself, learning about the power of the heart and heart coherence has been a huge missing part of the journey for wellness and vitality and health and peace and everything that we want in our lives. And today’s show is about connecting to your highest potential and true self through your heart. So we’ve been talking about different aspects. Last week with Dr. McCready, we talked a little bit about physical health and how the heart has such an impact on your physical health. So I talked about this a bit with the last book, you are more than you think you are. And ever since I heard about this idea of the true self and it’s a yoga concept and yoga Nanda who brought yoga to the West talked about this. And at first when we hear this idea,
true self, it sounds a little bit nebulous or we don’t really know what that means. When am I being my fake self or, you know, what are the levels of self? And so I want to dive into that today and I want to talk about how we access this, not just sometimes in a random way or in a fleeting way, but really consistently and increasingly deeper and deeper. So the true self is this place inside of us that is beyond thought.
It is beyond comparison. It is beyond, you know, all the sorts of ups and downs that we attribute to daily life. There’s this stable, unique energy inside of us that is also whole as it is. And in this wholeness, there’s this power to create, this creative power that is expressed through this deep connection. This is where we create our best ideas.
This is where able to deeply connect with ourselves, with others. This is where we find a place where we flow with life and we become more resilient against stress, which is really because of all the different ways in which we may resist the flow of life or we create control mechanisms or we get upset, frustrated when things don’t work out exactly as we want them to. There’s this incredibly powerful place inside of us. And

The way that we can access this is through deep stillness. And in our culture and in our, you know, in the lives that we lead, stillness, true stillness can be a very difficult thing to achieve, especially from the mind. And when I’m talking about stillness, I’m also talking about the stilling of thoughts, not just stilling your body. So this is where the heart comes in and this is where heart coherence is really, really powerful because
We can sit in different stillness practices. We can do silent retreats. We can do all sorts of things, but then our thoughts come with us and the unbridled mind starts to come with us as well as our insecurities. So what’s really powerful about the heart work is that we’re going to a different place. You may have heard me say this before in other podcasts, but I’m using it in a different context here. We’re going to a different place to start to identify and connect with the energy.
If we are identified with our emotions, then we’re up and down all day long. And this ultimately depletes our energy. Two minutes of frustration can put into motion over 1500 different biochemical processes that drain us. We’re in, know, fight or flight, we’re in cortisol, inflammation, all sorts of things are being manifested through these identifications with that energy of emotion. And if we identify with our thoughts,
then it also goes up and down. We may feel really great when people compliment us, but then we feel really low when people criticize us. So there’s an instability in these identifications. And this instability breeds distraction. It breeds, you know, low self -esteem, self -doubt, lots of things come from that. So what the heart does and what heart coherence does is it creates this inner harmony.
through our hearts, our brains, and our nervous system. And it allows a stilling effect. So coherence is like this flow state where, yes, you’re taking inspired action and you’re still moving through your day and you’re cooking your dinner and you’re making your glowing green smoothie and you’re getting dressed and you’re getting your child dressed. You’re doing all the things, but you could literally be in a different reality. And the reason you can be in a different reality is that because the heart’s intelligence is a brain,

with 40 ,000 neurons, it’s a central point of wisdom. So when you start to turn on this power, then you start to identify not with the insecure thoughts and not with the fleeting emotions, but with this whole abundant energy that is stable and secure inside of you. So the five hearts, these different stages, as you get to the steady heart, which is stage three, there’s this higher level of heart brain communication.
And what starts to happen, especially in this stage, which we come in and out of, right? We may have moments where we feel lost and confused in the dark heart, but the more we do this work in these simple practices, and I’m going to share one with you here today, a different one that I’ve been sharing, is that you start to grow in your coherence. And so you start to just more and more identify with this energy inside that is whole and stable and beyond identifications.
the philosophy around this or Eckhart Tolle is telling to go beyond thought, or even just identify with this deeper part of us can sound really beautiful, but be really hard to actually do in practice. So the heart coherence is giving us tools to actually do the work, to actually go and focus on your heart, which again, can start to rewire your nervous system. There’s published research papers about this alone. And so that we start to actually come into
more and more space and attention and identifying with this true self energy and instead of all the surface parts of us that we can. So this is really powerful because our highest potential is not going to be in the thoughts. It’s not going to be in the arduous thinking that pushes us into overdoing or overthinking confusion, fear, thinking things are going to take a certain amount of time.
What happens with the heart is that we are able to come up with incredible ideas. Our emotional intelligence grows and it all happens from almost, it feels like in my body is zooming out effect. Before I get into the research, I wanna share with you, it is literally the middle of launch week. I’m recording this on Wednesday. The book released yesterday, you’re listening to this tomorrow, which is Thursday.

the 19th, if you’re listening to it the day it came out. Otherwise it’s going to be at some point afterwards, but you can see the timeframe here where I’m in this midst of launching and things coming out and doing TV and blah, blah, blah. And yet I feel so different, completely differently than all of the book launches I’ve had before seven other launches. Usually there’s a sense of I’m not doing enough, which is a sense of lack or anxiety.
sort of just getting swept up in things, worry, stress, whatever it is. And so I’m really grateful that to experience that there really can be such a different reality when we awaken from inside of us. And this is where the potential is, not just in checking things off your list of achievements, but your true self potential is your moment to moment experience of feeling really light and peaceful and whole.
And from this place of peace and wholeness, you start to create very different things in your life. You can have very different experiences in your relationships. You can have a very different experience in your work outcomes. You may feel very deeply, intuitively inspired to shift your work or who you work with or what you do. But it’s really about the quality and the power and the efficiency that your heart will give you, which your mind could never…
give you that type of access. So much of the research in the hidden power of the five hearts comes from the Heart Math Institute. And I just want to highlight a study of theirs, another study from 2016, showing how heart -brain connection allows the heart to better communicate with the brain. And this influences cognitive functions and emotional regulation. So this improves functioning such as better decision -making. So
Every day we’re making decisions to move our lives forward. We’re deciding what to eat. What, how much is the right portion size? Where we’re going to put our time and attention, how we’re going to fill this space of the next 20 minutes. What are we going to do? What time are we going to go to bed? There’s all these different decisions that we make and we get really small and we do not live in our true self potential when we’re just living out the same patterns.

gotten used to things. The mind likes to recognize things as safe, so it continues the patterns. The amygdala’s and the hemispheres of our brain recognize what’s familiar and it just keeps us in these patterns. So in order to reach our highest self, we need to break the patterns. We need to live in a different way. And it’s almost impossible to break the patterns of the mind from the mind. So we go to this different place in the heart.
and it starts to activate the heart brain and which starts to increase our ability to more deeply connect with ourselves. This is happening on a physical level. The organs inside of you are starting to sync up. Your immunity is growing, your hormones are balancing, and then it also is happening on an energetic level. Now let’s talk about emotional intelligence for a minute, which is such a huge part of success and reaching our potential.
When we are again identified with these energies moving through us, all the fluctuating emotions, we say things that can hurt others. We say things that we may have to backtrack and we have to clean up a mess, things that are incoherent. People don’t understand what we’re saying. They don’t understand what we really mean, or we can again just create harm. And so this is not moving our lives forward. Emotional intelligence means we’re aware of ourselves.
We’re aware of our reactions, we’re aware of our feelings, we can better respond, and we’re also aware of what others are really trying to communicate. And so when we start to awaken the heart brain, to me it’s like this feeling of zooming out and expanding out beyond the smallness of the mind, beyond the smallness of the thoughts. And as we out, it starts to shift our perspective. So there is this deepening of intuition and widening.
This is so practically useful if you are trying to work in a partnership with others, whether that’s in a marriage or in a business partnership or in your company or at your school. It’s really important that we’re better able to really perceive what’s really going on and to respond in a more intelligent way. So I talk about this in the book as well, but I mentioned David

Daniel Goldman’s work because it was so revolutionary. He started talking about it in the 90s. And then there was a study in the Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences from 2018, which found that emotional intelligence, which includes self -awareness, self -regulation, empathy, and social skills were crucial for personal and professional success. So.
Besides us not getting weighed down, our vitality weighing us, being weighed down, us aging faster with again, these ups and downs of turbulent emotions. We’re able to create better manifestations of our goals. We need others to make our goals happen in many cases, whether we wanna create a healthy community or a beautiful family life, or we wanna produce a piece of music or a website.
or whatever it is, right? We need to be in partnership with others. We are not in this isolated experience. We are all one. We’re connected. So when we have a coherence inside of us, we’re able to have more of that harmony and peace and coherence with others. And this is absolutely priceless. So there’s a lot of research that I could go on and on about here.
that’s featured throughout. There’s over 500 research papers basically around in the published on heart coherence now from organizations such as HeartMath and others. There’s a lot of research in the book. What I was feeling to do now right here right now is to give you a practice so that you can start to really experience how you can connect to your highest potential in your true self for your heart.
and how you can shift how you feel intentionally, not from a fake forced positive thinking, willing your way through. It’s good to have strong will, of course, but when we start to awaken the heart brain, it’s not just, you know, forced thoughts, but our perceptions start to change so that it’s coming from this deeper place.

perception shift, then thought shift, then feeling shift versus just pushing down the layer on top. So to begin, we’re just going to do this for a few moments. If you’re driving, don’t close your eyes. But if you are driving or if you’re not driving, please close your eyes just for a few moments and try this practice with me. So you’re going to close your eyes. And the first thing I want you to do as you start to settle into a comfortable seat is I want you to become more aware.
of what you’re feeling right now.

just tune in right here though. What are you feeling? Is there any areas of tightness or tension in your body? Are there some repeated thoughts running through, creating stress? Are feeling pretty open? Are you feeling tired? Just become aware of how you’re feeling right now.

Now I’d like you to shift your focus and your awareness on your heart. Your physical heart, your energetic heart.

and then please place one or both hands on top of your heart. If you would like, it’s not required, but if it helps you to connect, please place your hands on your heart.
and start to take some nice deep breaths in and out while focusing on your heart.

So shifting away from the thoughts, forgetting everything else for a few moments, just to focus on this energetic and physical center of your body, your heart.

Now I’d like you to consider how would you like to feel right now? Not how you’re feeling, but how would you like to feel?
So go with your intuition. It may come up right away or take a moment longer. Maybe you want to just feel more light. You want to feel more peaceful. You want to feel more present. You want to more joyful, whatever it is.

I’m going to go with peaceful. I always love more and more peace, right? The deepening of true peace, true acceptance, true harmony with what is. So now you’re going to keep focusing on your heart, imagining that you’re breathing in and out of your heart. And I want you to breathe that emotion right into your heart. Let’s say it’s peace. So we’re inhaling in peace.

And then we’re exhaling out peace. Now this is the part that’s beautiful part of coherence. Since all energy fields intersect, we want to focus on receiving. And we also want to focus on giving because as it flows through us, we’re benefiting as well. But the heart is also a broadcast station. This is another beautiful truth that is spiritual and also scientific. Through this electromagnetic field, all fields intersect so we can
We energy, we can be of service, we can offer out into the greater community and into the world. So focus on breathing in whatever emotion, energy you want to feel, is that the lightness, more joy, more peace. And then as you exhale, you’re going to send it out through your heart, out into the world, to your loved ones, to areas of the world that may need more love and peace or joy, whatever word or energy you want it to focus on.

This is how we shift our energy through the heart. This is how we start to drop into our fullest potential. It doesn’t have to be the same roundabout thinking through, waiting through all the stories and ideas, trying to find some sort of mental resolution. In the moment, as we get more coherent, we focus on our heart and we breathe in and out, we’re able to breathe in different energy and say, I choose this energy and I’m…
taking it in through my heart’s power. And again, radiating it out through the heart field out into the greater field. And then it’s also radiating out through your brain waves and through your cells in the body and your entire being. You’re embodying it. You’re becoming it. This is how we really start to embody our true self potential. It’s not gonna happen through thinking our way there or, you know, just…
you know, wanting it or watching what other people have, you know, it’s embodying it’s being it. We can’t just know about something. We have to be it and we be it not from being the thoughts, which aren’t really who we are. It’s on the surface. It’s just one tiny aspect. Mind is one tiny aspect. The gateway is the heart. The heart is, this portal into the true self. And I’ve been, I talk about this in the book and I’ve been talking about this a lot on podcasts, how
Isn’t it incredible how there is this intersection of the heart across all major world religions and these spiritual traditions. So it’s not just, here and there, but there’s this emphasis from the Egyptians and the Babylonians and the Greeks and the sacred heart of Jesus Christ and the Anahata chakra and the Buddhist heart Sutra and Kalb.
translates to heart in mentioned throughout the Quran and Lev, which translates to heart throughout the Torah, right? There’s this power center. So if we want to really tap into our highest potential, this is where we want to go through. Now it’s true that as we awaken the heart more, more also awakens through our centers, including the third eye, which I talked about quite a bit in the last book, you are more than you think you are this

place where we can see more. So as you wake in the heart, like I said, you may literally be able to see your patterns more and to see how you’ve been playing out certain things in your life over and over again. You can start to see more in emotional intelligence and be more able to perceive what people are saying and be more clear in what you are trying to say. So there’s incredible power that starts to radiate out to this access point, which is quite
It’s potent, but it’s also accessible. So this practice that we just did, I encourage you to work on it and to use it when you’re feeling a little bit low or confused or you just start to become more aware. And again, our awareness guide on the Saloonoo website will help you with this. Hmm. I’m actually becoming disconnected. I’m actually becoming a little bit off or I’m starting to get a little frustrated here or,
sharp or whatever it is. Sometimes we don’t even realize that we’re slipping into a certain pattern. But over time, we can start to feel these different somatic responses in the body, different guide points. And so we start to tune in. And then we come into the heart, which takes us right out of the pattern of the thinking, which can reinforce our way or needing to prove a point or digging in or needing people to see us or whatever it is. Right? Mind has this way of
just sort of digging in and this keeps us small and also limits our energy and it ultimately limits our success and our abundance. So when we go into the heart.
And then we start to choose, if we do that heart centered breathing, and then we start to choose a different energy that we would like to breathe in through this heart brain, which is the main biological oscillator of the body, the rhythm center. So we breathe this energy into this center of our being, and then we breathe it out. And so we’re starting to embody it in a very real.

way. And it works on a profound level. And it’s something, you know, it’s a tool that you can have in your back pocket that you can always start to utilize along with the tools which build on this and, you know, far more information and the hidden power of the five hearts. So one of the things that grows as we become more of our true self, this connection and the compassion grows. And so
We start to be less focused on the me and my needs and the little I, and we start to be more focused on the bigger picture in any given situation and the bigger picture of how we could be more compassionate or loving or caring or connected to others in any particular situation.
So.
This happens when we are identified with the heart and this energy versus, I’m not going to get my share or I have to compete to be seen or heard or whatever mind tells us the divisiveness of the mind. So the true self is so whole in itself. There’s a practice in the steady heart chapter where it’s it’s a radiating out like the sun, where we realize how whole we are and that there is no lack.
And to sort of start to subscribe to any of those lack emotions or feelings only limits our true power. So we want to just stay really centered right where we are and keep coming back, keep coming back to these tools, keep coming back to the heart. And in micro moments, even the first part of that little practice we did, shifting to your heart, doing the heart focused breathing can be a really powerful way to away from the turbulent emotions, away from the insecure thoughts.

The other thing that happens when the more we come into our hearts is we start to realize our authentic purpose, why we’re really here. And it’s not in the same way as some people talk about purpose and it needs to be this, you know, really, planned out thing. It could, it just can expand more. you know, now it’s become really clear to me. My purpose here is to awaken more heart and health on the planet.
You know, your purpose could feel to bring more love to the circles around you, right? And that’s part of my purpose too. The love, the heart awakening, the health. So we start to realize that all of our lives have profound meaning and it’s not just random that we’re here. And it’s not that some people are more important than others or higher, lower, how the mind likes to create these people that are pedestaled. And then we put ourselves lower or whatever it is. It’s that.
We’re here and our lives have meaning and we’re here and alive and awake. And so in this moment, how do I live from my heart? How do I bring this energy forward in this morning, in this moment, speaking from the heart, listening from the heart, taking action from the heart. And the more we do this, the more we’re able to.
really live our highest self potential. Notice the more you do this and you do these coherence building tools and practices, your thoughts start to change and you have very different ideas. And this is something I’ve experienced myself. remember, well, again, let’s go back to the book launch because it’s so potent right now. I’ve just had some different ideas without stressing, making sure I have enough time to rest during this book launch and to have downtime and time for meditation. And out of those,
clear moments, I’ll just have an idea, hey, you share the book with this person, or can you ask this person to receive the book, or would you like to try the heart aligned meditation or whatever it is.
