This week’s topic is: How To Energize Your Full Potential In Life and Let It Shine Through with Hubby Jon Bier
As we talk about today, our focus is on allowing your full potential to shine through. And we do this through the lens of the Four Cornerstones, food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. Papa Bear, John, my love, my king is in the middle of our waterfall cleanse, which is an offering we will be putting out in the next month or so, and it’s just incredible.
We wanted to capture this moment of clarity and potential and share a lot of insights around the Four Cornerstones that we have been experiencing together as a couple. It’s really special for me to have these shows periodically where hubby comes on and we can really share with you in this really deep way.

02:15 And finally, I wanna announce final, final announcement here is that the new book You Are More Than You Think You Are, has just published into paperback as of last week. So you can pick up a lighter version, but still a, uh, a physical copy anywhere books are sold. And I do recommend getting a physical copy of this book because of the teachings and the practices and the meditations. It’s nice to see them written out, I think. And you can also write in the book itself. So I’m very excited to share this with you. This is about very linked to our show today about potentiality, about creating and um, just allowing
Kimberly: 02:59 The fullest most beautiful potential of your life to come forward, which can and only really, really will be created from the inside out. So it starts with the clarity, it starts with intention, it starts with your inner vitality and your energy, and then you create outer form from this inner place. So wherever books are sold, check it out. You are more than you think you are. All right, let’s get into our show today with my incredible hubby.
Interview with Jon Bier
Kimberly: 00:01 Hub back on the show, Papa Bear, Mike King, my love of my life. Thank you for coming back my love.
Jon:00:09 I’ll tell you, thank you for having me. It’s so nice to be back in, uh, the wellness spa in my house. All the, the, the wonderful sense in here, in the softness of these fabrics. I mean,
Kimberly:00:22 I mean, it’s funny because my home office is almost like this secret passageway. There’s a little door on the side of our living room, and then you go down this cork scr staircase <laugh>. And it, I like it because it feels like the womb of the house. It’s underneath. I can still hear the kids, so I’m not away. But it is a very sacred space where I get to write and podcast. And
Jon: 00:48 So I have a confession to make. Um, sometimes when you’re not home,
Kimberly:00:51 My God, <laugh>. Yeah.
Jon:00:52 Come down here. I come down here and I eat chips. <laugh>.
Kimberly:00:57 Hilarious. Hilarious. It’s, um, anyways, it’s nice, and I think we’ve mentioned this before, but it’s nice that we’ve created this homework environment because we both work from home and I have this space, and then your office is across the, our guest house converted into your office. So it’s nice. We have our separate spaces. We get to see each other during the day, but we also can work and be independent.
Jon:01:22 Yes.
Kimberly:01:24 So today I wanted to talk about, you know, we’re still kind of in this, it’s funny people joke, how long can you keep saying Happy New Year? And I like to say that you could say it through January, but we’re still in this mode of sort of freshness, thinking ahead to the new year. There’s a lot of excitement. And I wanted to reframe this idea. Oh, first of all, the theme or the general topic I wanted us to focus on today, babe, is allowing your potential to come through, to shine through. And this is a very different perspective than what we usually hear, which is New year, new you, which to me almost implies like there’s something wrong with you, or you have to like, create or find something else besides yourself. And the perspective that I believe in is rather clearing the layers, whether it’s physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, clearing the dust off. Right. You know, the ego, the different ways we over-identify the toxicity in the body. All these different ways we, we cleanse and we clear, and then our innate potential, this wisdom, this power, this energy inside of us is able to come through.
Jon:02:38 Yeah, I think there’s, there’s lots of ways that, uh, to look at that. And I, I agree with you. New year, new you. Like, what was wrong with the old me? Yeah. You know, at the same time it’s like, well, you’re thinking about all these things you wanna do, but are you, first of all, are you just defeated and not thinking about them? Or, and is this an opportunity to kind of, of reset for you? Or are you thinking about them and not doing them? Which is most of, most of us, most of us are, uh, you know, oh shit, I should really do this thing. I really want to get better. I really wanna lose weight. I really wanna be healthier. I really wanna, you know, learn Spanish <laugh>, uh, that’s in my business and that’s in my health, whatever that is. But then we don’t actually do it. So it’s just this opportunity for a fresh thing, which, um, ultimately like a meaningless, fresh thing if you, if you don’t put any, any value in it. Cause technically you can do that anytime, but, um, to actually inspire yourself to actually make the change instead of just thinking about it.
Kimberly:03:39 Yes. And we focused, or I did a solo cast a couple weeks ago, which I’ve been talking to you a lot about, babe, about how it’s really about internal shifts create the external change. So, like you said, we think about what we want in our lives at certain things that we wanna create or we wanna improve, whether it’s our salary or our health or our energy. But, um, but it’s, you know, there’s something missing for a lot of people. And that’s why, you know, poll after poll research study shows that people abandon their New Year’s goals and resolutions after like two weeks. So what I wanted to do today was give some tangible action points on this topic of allowing our potential to come through using the four cornerstones as our framework. We love to take this holistic approach here. We, we weave many top all the topics through this because we believe that when we treat ourselves as whole beings, when we really look to the core of our energy on the inside, we create, we change our lives from the inside out. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, right? So food, body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. Babe. Okay.
Jon:04:51 Yeah. We got lots on all the
Kimberly:04:53 <laugh>. So I wanna start with food because we are in a very powerful moment right here in our family. Papa Bear has been doing the waterfall cleanse, which I will be offering publicly in just a few weeks. Been doing it with clients now. I’ve been doing it Papa. He has been, it’s a three day cleanse, but Papa has been on it for 10 days. 11 days. Today’s day. 11. Yes. <laugh>. Wait, so let’s give a little background on this papa as fluctuated with this diet. You, you know, there’s been periods where you’ve been plant-based, but then there’s been periods where you’ve been eating a lot of meat and heavier foods. And what happened was, we started noticing your feet were getting cold. There was just all these different biomarkers. You’re a lot more quantitative than I am. And you wear a whoop and you have all these different devices, but it became clear that it was weighing you down your body. What was in your system? You just weren’t thinking clear. I mean, you could speak more, um, more to it. Like, why were you inspired to do a deep cleanse?
Jon:05:56 So first of, of all, I work in wellness. So I try every brand. I, I try everyone. The ones that are my clients, you know, I, I use regularly and I choose the brands that I believe in the most as my clients. But, uh, I get my blood work done every month. I do. And I track, you know, my glucose, my mm-hmm. <affirmative>, my sleep, my heart rate variability, my recovery in, in all of its in all of its forms. And so I’m very aware of what’s happening on a, a physiological level at, at all times. And, uh, my inflammation was too high. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, uh, I was particularly rigid, um, like ridiculously rigid I think. And, uh, my energy was fine, but fine based on what I was used to.
Kimberly:06:44 Exactly.
Jon:06:45 You know, like that’s the thing is we all kind of like, yes, I was tired a lot. And but you don’t notice that if that’s your, you know, that’s your like
Kimberly:06:53 Normal state. Yeah.
Jon:06:54 Your, your normal state. You just, that’s just, oh, I’m getting older or, you know, like, you don’t,
Kimberly:07:00 Or lemme just have more coffee
Jon:07:01 Or, or Yeah. Yeah. And I think a lot of those things that we do that we think give us energy, don’t give us energy. They actually take energy from us. And, uh, I can say, and I, and I, I am a big meat eater, uh, because that’s what’s comfortable for me. You know, I’ve been healthy a lot of my life. I’m, I’m an athlete. Uh, I’ve been healthy a lot of my life eating pretty much, you know, organic meat and grass fed meat and, and and vegetables and uh, but eating too much, eating just one quantities.
Kimberly:07:32 Exactly. And like you said, your whole life, but it does accrue, it does build up. It does. It is a, there’s a cumulative effect. So what worked when you were, you know, 15 or 20, we see that there is this call your body’s calling out for change.
Jon:07:47 So let me tell you. So this, uh, this cleanse I’ve done, you know, with the same rules. I’ve done every cleanse and everything. Cause I like to, to just try different things. Um, and I will tell you that, uh, I’ve never felt better in my entire life. And I’ve never, I’m still doing CrossFit workouts on 11 days without food. You know, like I’ve never been more energized. No, I do change the, the workouts a little bit to focus on, on things that, uh, like I’m not lifting as heavy, um, and just doing like longer, uh, longer workouts. But, uh, I have my, my mental clarity, I think is the, the number one thing. Like I am just on,
Kimberly:08:31 It’s incre and you also feel really magnetic and really grounded and present. And so when you said you’re not eating, to clarify, we are gonna have the glowing green smoothie. We start and end with the fiber and the juices in the middle because we’re working to clean out the toxins and the acid. So we need something to, to Chile to actually, or key late. I’ve heard it both ways. And bind to the toxins and remove them. Right? And then there’s this holistic aspect, which we’ll talk about, um, when we get into the other cornerstones with journaling and guided meditation. But I have just seen you babe. You know, back to our theme of potential. I see you so laser focused and clear. You had to go to Hawaii for two days for something with our farm. You did this huge task, you came back, I mean, you’re on fire <laugh>, so you can see how much the bo when you purify the body, there is a huge effect in your whole life.
Jon:09:25 Also my mood, huge, huge oven calmer, which you think calm, calmer.
Yeah. If you think like, oh, I’m hungry. Um, I’m used to the habit of eating, which was probably the toughest thing to get over, is like, oh, it’s dinnertime. Now I’m used to a hot meal, but I’m not even that hungry to be honest. So I will have like a piece of celery or something just to, just to chew something. Um, but I’ve also been doing this for 10 days. The first couple days you
Kimberly:09:52 Were a little grumpy. First
Jon:09:53 Couple days was a little
Kimberly:09:54 Grumpy, day two grumpy, which is normal. But again, it’s like you got into this flow and this is the power of food. And this is the power of why food is the entryway for a lot of us, including myself into wellness. And all the yogis, including paramahansa, yoga, naa, and all the great ones have always included a discussion about food. Because if we wanna reach our fullest potential, we cannot ignore that. What we’re putting into our being has a huge energetic impact.
Jon:10:23 Well, we constantly think about food, um, as something that is delicious and something that is nourishing, right? Something that gives us energy, um, to live. But we don’t talk about is how much of our food that we consume is for numbing.
Kimberly:10:38 Yes.
Jon:10:39 You know, is for avoidance. And that’s a thing that needs a deeper conversation because we’re probably eating, you know, many, many times the amount of food that, that we actually need to actually nourish ourselves and, and be healthy. And, uh, yeah. I mean, you’re, you’re blocking your life force. And I’m, you know, like, oh, if I see a numbing agent, like I will, you know, I will gravitate towards that thing. I might be aware of it, you know. But, uh, I, I’m in the same way that I’m aware right now of like how clear and energized I am from, from not having that blockage. Like I’m kind of used to, you know, like just kind of muscling through not having high energy, you know, like I may exactly appear high energy, but I’m not, I’m just kind of struggling through it. But right now, I am very high energy.
Food Cornerstone Perspective on How To Energize Your Full Potential in Life
Kimberly:11:34 What’s really great about this waterfall cleanse and and cleansing in general is for some personalities. And I’ve worked with different client, many different clients that do it different ways. But I think for a lot of people, including you babe, when you have this reset and then you feel so different, and then there’s a lot of, you know, backup, you know, uh, post support about how we keep going with this. And I’m working with some of my clients on the same thing. How do we keep this going? So there’s balance afterwards. Then it really does show you what’s possible. I mean, your feet are usually freezing at night. We get in the bed, I’m like, oh my God, you’re being here. Like ice, they’re warm, circulation is moving. I mean, it’s so powerful. And what you said to me, babe, and I know we’ve been through this for years now, we talk about, cuz I’ve been through it myself.
12:23I love cheese, I love french fries. I was like, oh, I, I don’t know if I can live without these things. But it is true that the experiential feeling good starts to, this doesn’t mean you’re not gonna enjoy food, but maybe the portion sizes don’t have to be so big. Maybe you don’t eat your brisket in your treats. So often it’s back to that 80 20 where there’s room to have, you know, the, your favorite foods and things. But a lot of the, most of the time we wanna stay clean and we wanna stay light. And that’s what feeds, that’s what really nourishes our potential.
Jon:12:58 Yeah, I, I agree with that. I am, put it this way, like I could have stopped yesterday, but I don’t want to, you know, make myself, uh, less clean right now. Like I’m so clean and I’m so energized. And to be honest, it’s not very challenging for me right now. I’m way over the hump <laugh>. So, uh, I’m just going to keep going. And when I, when I really feel called to, to eating, um, I will. But right now, like I just don’t wanna, I just don’t wanna mess this up. Like I, I, if I was low energy, if I couldn’t work out if it was impacting me in any, oh, also needs discussion. I track all my stats, like we said. Yes. My resting heart rate yes is down 20% <laugh>. My sleep recovery is up 20%. I’m taking two less breaths a minute, which is enormous. You only take like 15 breaths a minute. Like yes, that’s an enormous, an in from from from 16 to 14 in breaths a minute is, is an enormous drop. Um, and
Kimberly:13:54 This is where the quantitative analysis I think can be really helpful cuz it’s showing you, you are discerning my, I’m like, wow, your feet are warm. I go more qualitative, but you looking at these numbers is
Jon:14:05 Really my heart rate rate variability is through the roof. Wow. Like, it is it, and so I got blood work yesterday and I’m so excited to see what, you know, a 10 day fasted blood work looks like. Especially since I had all these markers on the, on the last blood work that were like elevated in ways that I was like, shit, I need to, I need to do something.
Kimberly:14:27 Um, and then as far as your weight, you’ve lost over 10 pounds? I think
Jon:14:34 So I have lost, um, over, over TED pounds. Um, and uh, yeah, I mean that’s not the,
Kimberly:14:44 No, it’s not the goal. And but I’m just saying like a lot of it was bloat and waste in your gi tract, <laugh> and just a lot. It’s, it’s when we, when we take this pause and lighten our diet cleanse, get back on track, which for, you know, for you listening might just be going back to your glow green smoothie every day. I emphasize that is so important because of the fiber and just what it does to your microbiome. The short chain fatty acids reducing inflammation overall. I mean, there’s so much that fiber does, but just this consistency and this focus, it’s giving your body a chance to really heal. Cuz if we’re constantly overloading it with that big heavy meal with a huge portion sizes every day, your body never actually catches up.
Jon:15:33 Yeah.
Kimberly:15:34 So the potential that I, that we have witnessed, and this is why I’m so excited to be doing this podcast, in it, it just shows the power of healing and clarity.
Jon:15:46 I talk to my team about it, uh, almost every day now. Cause now it’s like, you know, day nine, day 10, day 11. So it’s, uh, I like all the, the affirmation I can get. But, um, it’s not an exaggeration to say that. I mean, it’s been, it’s been like a life-changing thing. Now that doesn’t mean that when I get out of this moment of clarity and I start eating that I’m gonna have the, the ability to eat normal size portions. I hope that I will. But this is the, this is the game that we all play. Right? You get back, it’s very easy to be in something when you’re in it and it’s very hard to get back into it when you’re not into it. And, and having that, um, that balance, you know, is uh, is a big part of this.
Kimberly:16:34 Balance is a big part of it. And it’s not all or nothing. So we don’t wanna go to extremes where you feel like you have to cleanse all the time. But the experiential is very powerful. Instead of just this abstract idea when you do feel lighter in your body, I do. And you see those numbers and it reinforces and validates what you’re already feeling. I do think that’s pretty powerful in helping to guide you back to the portion sizes, which I think is the biggest issue that, you know, we have, that you have here. So we’ll see how it does. But incredible. I’m so proud of you babe. It’s incredible to see the brightness and the glow in your skin. And so again, first cornerstone food, very impactful. We can never get around food as much as we expand out in the lifestyle. It will always be one of the cornerstones.
Body Cornerstone Perspective on How To Energize Your Full Potential in Life
17:25 So the second one is body. And I wanna start cuz the segue between food and body includes supplements and gut health. And one thing that we, we’ve been doing on the cleanse is you’ve been taking all the sa luna supplements, the, the probiotics to really nourish your gut health and also the detoxy. So one of the things that happens when people change their lifestyle, they become more plant-based, is there’s a tremendous increase in fiber. And I’ve used this analogy before, I think I wrote it in the Beauty detox solution. Imagine if you pour 20 bottles of a liquid draino down a very clogged sink, and there’s a bunch of hairballs in there in grossness, it all comes into the middle. So there’s a temporary block, right? And I’ve seen this with many clients’ bodies. So the power of detoxy is this oxygen, magnesium, and stable vitamin C based formula, which is called a S C two P, where there’s clinical research on that combination to really oxygenate your system, help with ural length.
18:26 It does many things, but it also in a non-habit way, not inhabit, forming way pushes things out. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So what I’ve noticed in you in reaching your full potential, now we can widen this a little bit. We think about the manpo chakra from a yogic perspective, this is your power center. This is your will, this is how you are seen by the world and how you communicate with the world right here, right in your belly. So as we cleanse, bloat and heaviness from this area, your full potential can start to really come forward and it can be felt. So a huge part of that is cleansing the waste, taking detoxy, which we’ve been doing and just, you know, you know, this combines, overlaps a little bit with the food, but the gut is, you know, people wanna have flat abs, they wanna look good, but on an energetic level it has so much to do with potential and what we’re able to create in the world.
Jon:19:20 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>,
Kimberly:19:21 You feel that?
Jon:19:22 I do feel that. Um, actually maybe this is tmi, but I’m going for it. <laugh>. Uh, I, I had a colonic yesterday to kind of clean myself out
Kimberly:19:33 And oh, we love talking about <laugh> colonics.
Jon:19:36 The technician was, uh, was telling me about oxygen pills and uh, I was like, oh, my, my wife actually, um, you know, uh, has a supplement brand that that makes those. And then, uh, when I went to pay for it at the end I looked and it was detoxy really the brand they use.
Kimberly:19:56 Yeah. Oh, that’s amazing. Yeah. Wow. <laugh> that’s great. And it, it really, um, this is where I, you know, and we talk about this, babe, we don’t have to, um, take a million different supplements, but there’s ones that are really helping the overall goal here, which is potential, which is your life force, your prana coming through.
Kimberly:20:36 So another part of, another part of the body cornerstone is stretching, right? Releasing tension from your body. Cuz back to this idea that everything is interrelated. So if you wanna reach your potential, we all hold onto a lot of stagnant energy and it builds up in different muscles. It makes us feel tight. And when we’re tight in our body, we’re tight in our mind. So one of the things we’ve been doing that’s new is stretching. And you, like you said baby, you’ve been really focused on CrossFit. You do jiu-jitsu, you do boxing, you do a lot of cart, just a lot of, um, like, I don’t wanna say linear, but just like a lot of heavier lifting and movement. So when we started opening up, especially doing twists, it was amazing to see how your breath started getting more full and more open and just all this energy was coming out of your body. So can you tell a little bit about your experience with stretching?
Jon:21:47 So we’ve been stretching every night.
Kimberly:21:51 Yeah.
Jon:21:52 And you kind of helped me stretch, which is I’m so tight that I, I actually, uh, I need that support in certain, in certain stretches to actually open up. But once we’ve done it for a few days, you see how much more, um, open I am. And I think also that like, because I had, I started at such a, such a, you know, a tight place that huge improvements happen right away, right? Like enormous, like as you’re, as you’re flexible, like those probably gains get smaller, like in like, in any, any learning curve. Um, but right now, uh, I just get into, uh, those, those positions a lot, a lot easier. And I’m able to open up a lot quicker. And I think that also is, is part of the reason, cause we do it before bed. I think it’s part of the reason why, um, my sleep is so, is so good recently. Mm-hmm.
Kimberly:22:53 You know, it’s funny because sometimes when we think about body and we think about workouts, we think about, you know, men wanna be, and, and women, you know, I’m not going to necessarily categorize it muscular or fit or sin or whatever. We just want the form. But when we’re talking about our potential and what we wanna create and how we wanna feel in our life, you use the word open, right? So we’re open to what is to come, we’re flexible, we’re able to pivot and adjust in life. And when we’re stagnant and stiff in the body, it very much does translate in life.
Jon:23:27 Totally. We, we think about wearing like, comfortable clothes Yes. And putting ourselves in clump through situations while being like <laugh> Yeah. Fat and uncomfortable in our bodies.
Kimberly:23:37 Super stiff
Jon:23:38 Origin and Yeah. Really stiff. And it’s like we’re in control of that. Yes. Like, you wanna make, you wanna do something like luxurious for yourself, like make yourself bendy. Yes. And this is coming from a person who is not bendy and who has seen and has been incredible
23:52 Progress, you know, really muscular times and, you know, it’s, it’s really like, it’s not super comfortable to have an enormous amount of muscle and not be able to touch your toes. Yeah. Like that. Or, or really like straining to put the seatbelt on, which I’ve had cause oh my god. You know, like it’s just, uh, it’s, it’s not a comfortable way to live. It’s much more comfortable to be bendy and, and flexible and go through the day like that. And I will say that when you have low energy, you don’t necessarily know it because it just becomes your norm when you’re not bendy. You are constantly aware of how like uncomfortable certain things are. Yeah. But just living is
Kimberly:24:35 Exactly. And so I’m excited for us to continue stretching. And one of the things that we’ve really been focusing on is twists. And so this is, you know, traditional Chinese medicine has this whole mapping out besides acupuncture points about which organs hold which emotions. So like, spleen I believe holds sadness and liver is anger. So again, we, we hold so much emotion in us, which we’ll talk about in the next cornerstone. But to reach our potential, we need to release that. Right. We wanna open back up to reset to, I’m calm, I’m focused, here’s what’s coming at me. So our stretching has been great. We love acupuncture. I sent you in for acupuncture. And I’m also a big believer in fascia work because I think the fascia, which is the connective tissue that runs around and through everything in your body also needs to be released. So I know you have a, um, a client myo detox. Yes. We’re gonna get some fascia work done. And I think that’s another way to just keep releasing old stagnant energy so we can just radiate what we want, who we are now, not who we, you know, we’re what we were feeling five years ago.
Jon:25:40 It’s, it’s a thing that’s happening, uh, in culture right now where we’re starting to appreciate things that, you know, we should have done. Like we brush our teeth, right. But we don’t, we brush our teeth regularly, but we don’t, you know, manage the fascia that builds up on in our muscles regularly. Yeah. When, like, that’s a huge thing that you, you need to do rela You don’t have to do it daily, but you need to be aware of that monthly. I think if you really wanna to keep yourself as, as, as healthy as you can be.
Kimberly:26:11 Well, I don’t think anyone or most people didn’t even know the word fascia 10 years ago. You know what I mean? Right. And then it started coming in and I started hearing about it and I was like, oh, that makes sense. And also what I have heard is that fascia is almost, uh, it was a very similar structure to clear quarts, which, um, you know, needs to be clean. It has this potential, it conducts information, but when it’s stiff, tight, dehydrated, whatever, you know, wrapped around too tightly, whatever happens because of stress and sugar and not eating perfectly and all these things in life, these conductors of electrical impulses and information become impaired. Right. So then we don’t feel as powerful,
Jon:26:52 But don’t they actually crystallize also.
Kimberly:26:55 So one of the things with fascia that, um, and we’ve had, um, uh, shoot, I’m spacing on her name. We’re gonna link to it in the show notes. Um, Lauren, um, I forget her last name. We’ll, we’ll add this back in. Um, come on the, oh, Lauren Roxbury, who is a, a fascia expert as well. And she’s said one of the most important things in reopening up the fascia is, um, incredible amounts of hydration. So it does crystallize, it does get hardened. But when we start to hydrate with stretching and going to no fa getting fascia work, she said that can, and doing roller work mm-hmm. <affirmative> with rollers mm-hmm. <affirmative> that can, it can come back, but we have to be aware that it’s something that needs to be cared for. Yes. Like you said, just like brushing your teeth. Yes. So we stretch, we, I don’t really use a roller as much, but we have them around. You use them sometimes. Yeah.
Jon:27:46 I use whatever I can get.
Kimberly:27:48 Yeah. It’s a, it’s a good tool to have around as well. Yeah. And also having, um, something that, you know, we’re always gonna get professional massages, but sometimes moving energy in your body, having like a, like a hyper ice or which is a manual device that, um, it’s like a gun. I don’t know how to call it, like, it’s like a massage gun, but I imagine that also helps to move the
Jon:28:10 Fascia. Yeah. I think that percussion, uh, percussion massage is, you know, super
Kimberly:28:15 Valuable. Exactly. So the point is that we wanna f focus. So we’re talking about the physical part first, what we’re eating, how we’re taking care of our body, and that is a huge part of our potential. Even if your goal is in your work or creating, you know, a higher salary, whatever it is, it’s so interrelated. Right? Your body’s gonna support you when it’s open, when it’s flexible, when it’s pliable, when it’s healthy.
Emotional Wellbeing Cornerstone Perspective on How To Energize Your Full Potential in Life
Kimberly:28:15 So let’s move to our next cornerstone babe, which is emotional wellbeing slash mental health. And so, you know, again, back to this idea of like new year new you, it’s, you know, a lot of people feel this impetus, like, oh my God, I need to get another degree, or I need to take more courses, or, you know, I need to get all this stuff done and that can be great and, and, you know, be helpful.
29:00 And there’s nothing wrong with that. But to me, the number one thing in this cornerstone that has made such an impact for me in the past few weeks alone is focusing on calmness. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, right? This prop, like just unshakeable peace. That, that’s the mantra I’m working on right now. I’m steadfastly peaceful and calm, right? Just in life. I do it after I meditate in the morning and at night. And I’ve just noticed there’s more solutions seem to appear when I’m talking to our sons and I stay calm even if they’re like throwing toys at each other or whatever it is. It has this just grounding effect through our home. I’m noticing noticing a difference in work, and I know you’ve been focusing on that as well, babe. It’s just, it just helps potential come through in so many ways. I can’t even, I can’t even say it’s amazing.
Jon:29:54 Yeah. I mean, health and success and mental health and physical health, like living your best life. Look, this is a holistic thing, and we all hear about people. We all know people. We’ve maybe been those people our ourselves at times. They’re like, I can’t, you know, have a relationship right now. I’m my, my work, yeah. My work is my life. Yeah. And that’s one way to do it. But if, you know, we’re looking at this objectively, like you’re at your best at work when you have, when you are well-rounded in your, in your health, in your relationships, in your community. And I think that you can like, you know, put all your energy into one thing and do it, but you’d probably be better if you at, at that thing, uh, if you actually invested in those other things as well. Exactly. You know, and I think that you, you need to be, if you’re gonna beat your best at one thing, you have to be optimized in those other things. Like wellness is holistic.
Kimberly:30:51 Yes. And so when we, and, and in in doing that, it’s a choice, isn’t it? Saying I choose to nourish also my emotional wellbeing and mental health. And there’s many different ways to go about it. But like you said, it’s seeing this is holistic. I have to choose this. Otherwise, we overvalue, I find in working with many people over the years, the physical things, the workouts, the fitness, the food, and not the more intangible formless things,
Jon:31:19 If you find time for stillness, in that stillness you are solving on some level, you are solving some of those work issues that might take you a lot of time. Like that is the, that is one of the, one of the real benefits of finding time for, for stillness and contemplation and, and and doing nothing essentially, is that you are in the background actually doing a lot.
Kimberly:31:44 And so for me, the, the calmness, the the, the emphasis on calmness is the opposite of reactivity, which is, you know, what we hear is the number one detrimental, you know, impact on our mental health is stress. Right? The stress is, we’re so tied to the outside world, we’re constantly reacting. We’re constantly feeling these big emotions come up and down. And so for me, and these very tangible tools, some of them, which I share in their new book, um, and some of which I’ve just made that decision to do, the affirmations, which really anchors me through the day, is saying, okay, things are gonna happen <laugh>, you know, unexpected things at work, at home and whatever, but let’s just ride this out for a minute, right? Let’s just breathe through, let’s not speak or eat or act when we’re angry or really sad or frustrated or en rage or just feeling thrown off in some way.
32:42 It’s amazing. We’ve been teaching this to our six year old now who is at an age where he’s starting to understand that he has big feelings and he is starting to, we want, we’re giving him tools and it’s amazing to see shifts in him. But I didn’t really exactly put a focus on calmness before. I was like, oh, stress man. Oh, I had a stressful day. Let me, let me, you know, do these practices or I’ll take a bath or I’ll da da da. But how about not getting stressed out so much in the first place, right. Which is where that, okay, let’s slow it down. Let’s step back. Let me have a pause before I say or react. And it has, like I said, um, a couple minutes ago, babe, it’s made such a big difference. And sometimes we still say things, you know, to each other or whatever, but then we come back pretty quick now Right in that comment we’re like, oh shoot, that made it come off this way. So let me, um, let me, let me apologize. Let me reframe that.
Jon:33:38 Yeah. There’s, there’s so many levels to it that I think we’ve been through, and I think the first level is just not being aware at all.
Kimberly:33:45 Yes.
Jon:33:45 <laugh>, you know, just, and it’s difficult
Kimberly:33:47 In our own
Jon: 33:48 Stories. Yeah. If you’re not aware of your story, you can’t, you can’t really help it. You know, you have to find a way to become aware, otherwise you’re not even seeing the, the issue then there is becoming aware, and this is the place where I think most of us live and most of us never get out of, which is becoming aware of, oh, the thing that I’m angry about right now, that I’m fighting about is not the thing that I’m angry about.
Kimberly:34:15 Yes.
Jon:34:16 And look at road rage, it’s like
Kimberly:34:18 Projected
Jon:34:18 Out people were just so angry that someone cut them off, they get over a car and get into a fight. Like that’s not why you’re fighting. And, um, so, um, it’s becoming aware and then seeing, like, I kind of talk about it as like, or I think about it as like this little birdie on each of my shoulders, you know, where it’s like there’s one conscious birdie that’s saying, this is not what you’re angry about.
Kimberly:34:40 I like slow down,
Jon:34:41 We can end this right now, slow down. Uh, and then there’s the other one that’s being like, yeah, that’s true, but it feels so good to just lean into this <laugh> right now. And like, you have a legitimate gripe about this, and so you have an opportunity to be right. And so like, lean into it and get out those emotions. Um, and more and more I’m able to listen to the one that’s saying, you, you, you, you can let this go right now. This is not the issue that you’re angry about. And then when you do it once, twice, three times, every time you do it, it becomes exponentially easier. But for a long time, you live in that world where if you never make that choice to do, to let it, to let it go in that moment, you’re not in control of it. It’s not just the fact that you notice it Yeah. Is not enough. You have to get to that point where you actually let it
Kimberly:35:28 Go. And, and again, you choose, you focus on it, you create that awareness, like you said, babe. And you know, back to potential, our creative power is, it’s so connected to our ability to stay calm and focused. And when we’re not calm, we’re not gonna be focused. We’re swept up into all the drama. We, our thoughts are like, oh my God, I can’t believe she said this to me, or I can’t believe this happened. Right. When we get really centered emotionally, we are able to really start to create what we want in our lives. And you see it in work, you see it at home, there’s just this flow. There’s more joy, there’s more lightness. Yeah. So it’s a huge part of potentiality.
Jon: 36:06 Well, and then on the other side of that, if you don’t have that, you’re leaning into chaos. Yes. And what I mean by that is if I get into a fight with you right. And I’m not in control of that, and then I have a conversation with a friend of mine, mm. Probably gonna be a little bit,
Kimberly:36:20 You know, it’s all, everything is talking
Jon:36:21 With that. And I’m gonna talk to my team at work and I’m gonna be a little bit, you know, with them. Yeah. And so it creates chaos in all parts of your life. Everything is holistic. Nothing just stays on its own.
Spiritual Cornerstone Perspective on How To Energize Your Full Potential in Life
Kimberly:36:33 Exactly. So we’ve, you know, we’ve worked so hard to communicate, to listen to each other. We’re so close and it does impact. So now that we’re both, you know, just in better communication, we understand each other, we continue to understand each other and we, you know, and in all relationships, my work team as well, everyone in life, this calmness just feels so much easier. And again, it’s just this flow, this easefulness that yoga Nada talked about the power of e equanimity a lot mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And you start to experience that, which leads us now to our fourth cornerstone, uh, spiritual growth, which is sort of what, you know, part of it, these intersect as well. You’re talking about that stillness that, Hmm, let me get really centered because otherwise I’m, I’m gonna be over-identified with behavior, emotions, the surface, what people look like, what I look like, what I see on social media versus for me, I meditate a lot, as you know, babe. Um, for you, you meditate, you also need alone time. You have stillness. But this, listening to intuition, feeling your ink or inside is a huge part of reaching your potential as well. Otherwise, we’re confused. We’re running around, we’re trying to get external validation all the time, and it truly is exhausting.
Jon:37:49 Yeah. So having a spiritual connection to God or source, or na whatever you want to call it, is great. And it’s a great thing to, to have that, that belief system, but without a practice, yeah. It’s very limited, you know, it’s still great, but without a practice it’s very, it, it, you’re not really, you know, actually yes. Tapping into it now your practice of just meditating for hours a day and really going in is just incredible. And it’s, it, it’s something that, um, you know, I would like to have. Um, but I have difficulty meditating for long periods of time. And, uh, and I love it and I get the value from it, but what I do is I have other practices. Yes. And I think that’s the thing is you can’t say you have to meditate or you don’t don’t, or, or you don’t get this.
38:36 Right. I find truth where I can find truth, and that means that I might find it in a sauna, in an ice bath. Yeah. On, um, you know, in a, in a, in a, in a deep workout riding my motorcycle, just sitting in silence, you know, wherever, wherever I get can get that truth is, is is where I get it. And I don’t think there has to be these, these hard and fast, you know, uh, rules about it. So long as there is, you know, a practice that allows you to, you know, um, kind of tap in a little bit.
Kimberly:39:08 I, and I wanna, I wanna clarify that yes, I do meditate for longer periods. It was really hard for me in the beginning to meditate at all. And the reason I meditate for longer periods now is because I feels really good to me. But the practical enlightenment meditations we offer here for free or on the Sal Luna website, um, are all about eight to 10 minutes, five to 10 minutes. So they’re doable. And yes, I agree with you. Stillness is so key in listening and hearing and is part of that. I am very, as you know, babe, a proponent of meditation, even if it starts smaller, because, um, as you know, mag Guru Parama teaches when we go into the spine, when we awaken this energy in our central nervous system, in our medulla, Alan, the back of the brain, which translates, it feeds your third eye. You have expanded vision, you have more potential energy. So yes, I love all the practices and I think there’s no right or wrong, but for those of you that are interested in getting into the spine and the, and the creativity, you can also, you know, come along the meditation ride for sure.
Jon:40:13 Yeah. And I, I will say this mama that I’ve never seen, um, anything like, you know, what you do in the sense that I see you gone, like when you are, when you are meditating and you could be gone for two hours and you are fully comfortable in that state, not, not only are you comfortable in that state, if I left you for eight hours, joyful Yes. If I left you, like if I left you in a room for eight hours with nothing and I’m like, mama, I got the kids. Here’s, here’s this empty room with four walls and a floor. You would be fully content for eight, eight hours. You could tap in for eight hours and be joyful and be in that realm, which, you know, I don’t know, uh, too many people that could, that could do that. I’d start doing pushups and, you know, it’s taken
Kimberly:40:56 Tiles. It’s taken me a long time to get here. But I, I, I, I’ve, I know the truth that I’ve experienced is that when you get to a certain point, you get past that hump. You learn to do these practices, everyone can do this. And I just, I’ve been working at it now for over a decade, babe. But you get to this point where it really is so joyful to connect to spirit inside of you. And the true self spirit is inside of each and every single one of us. And it is, as Yogananda says this, this new joy, this unending joy that doesn’t get old. It gets old sometimes when you watch your show too much, your favorite show too much or shopping or whatever. That stuff gets old. But this joy inside of us, this real potential is there. So whether we wanna take a little dip in or we wanna, you know, take a big swig with meditation, we’ll link to some of the resources that we have to support you, um, support everyone in that as well.
41:47 But I just wanna end here by saying, babe, that I am so grateful for you coming on the podcast, but just re being such an amazing partner to me. And really, um, this will be the conversation of another podcast, but how true partnership can also really support potential because we’re mirrors to each other. You are the divine masculine that I’ve always didn’t even know I was searching for, but really do just embrace and love and it’s so deeply nourishing and it’s so balancing to my feminine. And you’ve just helped me grow so much and you’re so inspiring in your work, and I’ve seen you like quadruple your business in the past few years or more going from like four people to 42 people working for you. So thank you. And, and you know, again, I’m just so proud of you doing this cleanse. It’s no easy task. You’ve gone four times past the out and you’re still going and you’re so radiant and bright. So thank you my love.
Jon:42:48 Thank you, mom. I love you.
