This week’s topic is: How To Improve Your Spiritual Health and Find Happiness Within
When I started focusing on my spiritual growth, I noticed an enormous shift in my whole life and peace and love and peace and fulfillment, which I really define as the real success. I was on a podcast interview earlier today and the interviewee asked me, “How do you define success now?” And it’s so clear to me that it’s not about these external things. It’s not the achievements. It’s not how big your following is or how big your company is or any of that, because you can have those things and still feel so disconnected.
To me, success is really about connection. It’s about connecting to the true self inside of you, which is how we define spiritual growth here in our community. It’s not about one particular path. It’s not about dogma. It’s not about religion, but it’s a personal path of inner connection. With that, I am very excited to get into our show today and our question and some real practical action steps and tips to give to you.

Hi, my loves and welcome back to our Thursday Q&A podcast where this week, our topic is How To Improve Your Spiritual Health and Find Happiness Within. So as always, we rotate around our four cornerstones, food body, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual growth. And of course this week, our focus is on spiritual growth. And I am very excited to get into our show today and our question and some real practical action steps and tips to give to you. Because when I started focusing on my spiritual growth, I noticed an enormous shift in my whole life and peace and love and peace and fulfillment, which I really define as the real success. Now I was on a podcast interview earlier today and the interviewee interviewer asked me, what, how do you define success now? And it’s so clear to me that it’s not about these external things that, you know, society tells us so much is the way it’s not the money.
It’s not the achievements. It’s not how many, how big your following is or how big your company is or any of that, because you can have those things and still feel so disconnected. So to me, success is really about connection. It’s about connecting to the true self inside of you, which is how we define spiritual growth here in our community. It’s not about one particular path. It’s not about dogma. It’s not, it’s not about religion, but it’s, it’s a personal path of inner connection. So we say that the formless part of you is called the true self. This is where your full potential is. This is where we connect to the love inside. This is where we find fulfillment without needing anything external. And so this path of spiritual health, spiritual growth is about deepening that connection and lessening our over reliance on the external world.
It’s about lessening our over-identification with the ego, which is the form part of us, which includes what we look like, what we’re seeing other people doing, what we see with our senses, what we sense with our senses. So seeing what the numbers are in terms of everything, from weight to accumulation of wealth, to, you know, a million different ways this plays out, but it’s all the form. And so it’s easy to get caught up in that. And when we do, we start to feel lost. We start to feel sad. We start to feel unfulfilled. We start to feel purposeless. And so in many ways the spiritual growth cornerstone is the pillar. It is the most important one
And the ways in which we eat our nutrition, our food, our diet, the ways we take care of our body, the ways we take care of our emotional wellbeing and mental health are also central, but they support this primary principle of self connection, which will give us the love and the joy. And so, as we get so anchored on the inside, what happens is we become less and less tethered, which means we’re not trying to grip and control everything, which means our anxiety and stress levels start to reduce, which means we’re more of a flow in life. We D we let things in, we don’t resist because the anger comes inside from the inside safety and security comes from the inside. So this is an enormous increase in our vitality, in our health, in our hormonal balance, in our gut health and our skin health, we actually feel, and look younger and many different ways.

So we start to really see the interconnection and the interplay between the four cornerstones. So I am very excited to get into our topic before I go even further, just a little reminder to please leave us a review on iTunes or apple, rather Spotify, wherever you listen to our show, which again, I have my hand on my heart right now. As I’m sure you have as well from divorce and losing my mom going backwards and forwards in my career a bit. And so we’re here to share with each other as well. And so this is for, you know, this podcast I did earlier today, this interviewer said to me, wow, it’s taken you six books to share some of this. And I said, yeah, you know, we all go through this journey and here I am, and I wasn’t comfortable or ready to share some of this, but it is my most raw book. And I think in many ways, my most helpful book. So check it out, wherever books are sold and it’s called your more than you think you are.
Question around the topic of: How To Improve Your Spiritual Health and Find Happiness Within: Kimberly I really want to improve my spiritual health this year, what steps can I take to make this a priority in my flight.
So let’s get into our show today. Now our question comes from Jill, who lives in Dallas. Thank you. My love, my Texas beauty for being in our community and for participating and for your question, which is, Kimberly, I really want to improve my spiritual health this year, what steps can I take to make this a priority in my flight? Oh, wow. I love the way that you worded this question, Jill, thank you again so much. What a beautiful, um, way in which you’ve used language here in your flight, because we think about the butterfly or the bird, but particularly the butterfly. I like to think of this analogy because it is also, I’m looking down at the book, the new book right now, there’s a butterfly in the cover. And I grew butterflies with my sons a few weeks ago and they start off, we start off in this Chrysalis and this container, and it starts to feel like, oh, is this everything, is this what life is gonna be like, do I have to live in the same place where I grew up? Do I have to have the same career as my parents?
There was a time where I felt that that pressure cuz both my parents were in finance. So I kind of explored that, but it really wasn’t for me. So I start to think, is this all there is to life. And then we realize that so much of our limitations really do come from ourself. And that sounds cliched, but it’s true. It is our mentality. It is disconnection from truth that creates this. And so as we start to be more, um, we start to attune to truth, which includes love, self love, connection, oneness. When we feel the truth. And then we actually start to live it. We take action steps, this practical way of living, we meditate, which is a way to connect the truth. And then that meditation starts to seep into our day. For example, the truth goes into action and then it becomes realization. And when the more we live in realization,
The more happy and joyful that we feel. So I prefer the term joyness bliss, which means unhappiness is a more colloquial. It’s a more common term, but there is a distinction. When we live in this space of more bliss, it is nothing to do with what’s happening in our outside world. It doesn’t have to do with whether someone compliments our dress or whether we had a great day at work in terms of output or if there’s less traffic or if our recipe turned out really great, we can be excited about those things, but those things can all fall flat. And when the recipe sucks, we can have a giggle. And when there’s traffic, we can put on a happy song and we can hum to ourselves. So the point is we become more and more independent. Our happiness and our joy is more independent of this outside.
Swirl of chaos, known as life, many, many parts of which we don’t have any control over the circumstances. Challenges are gonna come our way. Things are going to be unexpected and come in and out. And so the way to really anchor and create steadiness and stability, which is a real cornerstone when it comes to joyfulness is that our steadiness has to come from a different place. And so it comes from within. So that’s really what spiritual growth is about is strengthening this inner anchor. Now don’t let language create any sort of blockage here. Some of us resonate towards different words, but it’s really about this unifying energy, this higher intelligence, you can use the, the word universe. I personally use the word God, that’s what resonates with me. You can say source, you can say higher power. You can just say intelligence. You know, there’s just many different ways, but find one that resonates with you and what that, that’s what that’s the anchor of the spiritual life is connecting to that.
So you can see that intrinsic in that is expansion. We are not this limited little tiny body bones and skin that Withers and ages and eventually passes away. We are this eternal aliveness, the soul, the spirit, the true self. And so anchoring to that is going to give you so much limitless joy. And it’s very magnetic. So there’s a chapter in the new book called you are, you know, it’s about being magnetic and how you can draw things in without this pushing. And you can experience that in your life. If you think of someone that was so magnetic and what was it about them? So one of my previous
Partners had a mother and she was, her name was Antoinette and she was so loving and just always there, always there in love, always there to listen in love and non-judgment and she was a spiritual person. She also happened to be, um, along the path, coincidentally, or maybe not so of Paramahansa Yogananda. So she knew about the self realization fellowship and she was into the meditations. And what drew her in was her love. And so you think about this is something, the soul quality, something that we could all develop. So let’s get into some practical steps here. And last thing I wanna say is to this day, I remember her and her energy because it was the love, right? It was that that depth of love wasn’t about what she looked like. It wasn’t what she had or didn’t have. It was the love.
The love is what the spiritual path is really about. It’s about the heart. It’s about the intuition. It’s about going past the surface and connecting so deeply with yourself that you then connect so deeply with other people and you see past the surface stuff and you forgive more easily and you’re more compassionate and you’re more light. You forgive more easily. This all comes from practice. So the way in which we do this, Jill is we take steps. We create patterns in our life. We create practice. The number one thing is to meditate as closely as possible from when you wake up. So I’ve mentioned this on other shows and I’ll say it here again, we offer, I offer a whole library of practical enlightenment meditations that are free. You can access them on our website, my solona.com or on our app, our Solluna app. And they’re about seven minutes.
So I encourage you to find one that resonates and to go in. And this is inspired by Yogananda’s teachings about settling the body, going deeper into the breath and then into the, I am mantra form, which is where we reinforce this beingness, this aliveness of the true self. You start to connect into that versus I’m doing this. I feel like this today. My emotions, my mental state is pushing me this no, we anchor into the, I am. So we meditate as closely as possible to when we go to sleep, ideally, you would also have some sort of self connection practice like journaling Yoon said that introspection is one of the greatest ways to improve yourself and to, to understand yourself spiritually. So spirituality again is about this alignment to truth. And when we journal, we can start to see, where am I? Where are my shadows?
Where am I living in the ego? Why does this bother me so much? What do I need to learn about myself? And so the directed practice of introspection is at the cornerstone of our community in the Solluna Circle. And we go deep and we support each other through daily prompts in a monthly zoom. So if you’re interested in really learning more about yourself in a community space, that’s so loving and amazing. Please join our circle, please check it out over on the app as well. And it’s less than $15 a month to join us. And I promise you, you will get so much out of it. So the next part is to explore teachings and truth through, through the written word, the great ones that have come before us have left markers. And this is very individual in my personal path. I have read a wide variety from many different cultures.
So I love the BGA Vata. I also love the Bible. I love the DW de Ching. I love the teachings of Buddha. So I’m pulling from many different traditions and I encourage you to explore the vadas the, the ancient scriptures that, that have stood with stood the test of time, because there’s a resonance of truth. And just to pick some of the teaching, some of the writings, I go through the Gita and I’ll pick a passage too, and then just sit with it and sit with it and journal about it and see how you can start to apply it to your life. So I encourage you to listen to, this is a very practical way to do it to one of my prior podcasts, which we will link to about the 26 soul qualities in the Gita. And I pick out a few of those qualities and I’ll do another show in the future about some of the other qualities, but one of the qualities is compassion for instance.
So that truth is that compassion is the way compassion. The opening of the heart is going to open up your life. So you can pick one teaching or one aspect for in this case, one soul quality compassion, and you can focus on it for a week or for a month and integrate it into your life. And that’s a way to improve your spiritual health. It’s just to break down one aspect or one part kindness, um, um, patience, fortitude, and then really live it and focus on it. Another way of practically improving your spiritual growth is to spend more time stillness and nature. This is how your heart and intuition starts to come forward more and more when we’re less susceptible to all the noise, the news, the social media, all the stuff, the egoic stuff of form in the external world. It’s not that that stuff is bad, but it’s that we need to balance our time and attention with that. And with the, the truth of the heart and the stillness that comes forward more when we literally carve out that time and that space to go for a hike, go for a walk, meditate outside, or just take a couple minutes of when you have a break and just observe nature, just breathe. And you start to notice your parasympathetic and your sympathetic nervous system start to balance. You start to notice your stress hormone and start to calm down. And there’s so much research supporting this now, and you just start to rebalance and then your intuition can speak to you clearly.
So these are some of the ways in which you can improve your spiritual health. Jill, thank you so much for your question. There are so many resources I have for you in this way. The primary one being the practical enlightenment meditations to support you in that daily meditation, nothing is going to tune you in more than that practice. So please get it going, put some extra focus on it for the next 30, 40 days. And they’ll become more of a habit. It’s something that I do every morning before my children wake up and before the day gets going. And it’s so beneficial. So the show notes again, over at mysolluna.com, I’ll be back here Monday for my next interview podcast, till then sending you so much love so much gratitude. Namaste.
