I recently read Radical Beauty and am incorporating the pillars into my life. My question has to do with protein in the mornings. I usually have hot water with lemon and my GGS in the morning but then sometimes find myself wanting protein for my meal. I know you recommend not having protein in the morning. I’m wondering how long I need to wait before having protein?

My question is about breakfast. I live in the mountains and hike 3-5 miles early every morning with my dogs. I love to drink the GGS first thing but find that it is not enough to sustain me for the hikes. I’ve tried eating oatmeal but it makes me feel heavy and sleepy. I wonder if you could offer some suggestions for a warming hearty breakfast that won’t weigh me down?

    I am just starting my morning routine with my lemon water (or ginger water), my probiotic, and the GGS. Sometimes I don’t have a lot of time in the morning, as I have early college classes. How long should I wait between the probiotic, the lemon water and the GGS. Can I have them all consecutively? Thank you!! 🙂

      Hi Bijan Kashani…I understand having a busy schedule and applaud you for keeping up with your healthy lifestyle. Upon waking you can take your probiotic with warm water and then have your hot water and lemon. Once you’ve had those two, then I would move onto your GGS. The hot water and lemon is always a great way to start your day, providing your body with cleansing and detoxing action before adding cooler drinks to your day. Sending you lots of love and support! 😉

    If I feel like having something warm and hearty in the morning, I like to gently warm chia pudding (inspired by Kimberly’s Chia Delight recipe) and have it a little while after I have my GGS. It feels so filling and grounding when its warmed, yet still light and energizing in my belly.
    I whisk three tablespoons of chia seeds with a mashed banana and one cup of almond milk, then let it sit in the fridge until its thickened, around 20 minutes or so. I often make it at the same time as my GGS so its ready in the fridge for whatever time of day I like. I like to add different things…vanilla and raspberries, cinnamon, sometimes raw cacao.
    Its also delicious chilled and one of my favorite snacks to have before yoga.
    Warmed up, its my perfect hearty breakfast : )
