This week’s topic is: Your Energy: Out With The Old and In With The New
There is so much buzz around new year, new you. I think it’s sort of a funny term because we are who we are, but this newness feeling comes from getting rid of this old energy that can stagnate, whether it’s in our bodies, our GI tracks, our homes and in our relationships.
I think there’s so much we can all benefit from by reminding ourselves, as we go into this amazing new year and new decade, to really elevate our energy, which of course is our life force.
It’s our happiness, our joyfulness, our experience of life, our wellbeing and our vitality. I’m really excited about this topic!

Kimberly: Hi Beauties and welcome back to our Thursday Q and A podcast. Our topic this week is “Your Energy: Out with the Old and In with the New.” And I’m sure that you’re feeling the high vibe still hopefully of New Year’s. There is so much buzz around new year, new you, which I always think is sort of a funny term because you know we are who we are, but this newness feeling comes from just peeling away the layers and getting rid of, you know, it’s like dusting, almost like getting rid of this old energy that can stagnate, whether it’s in our bodies, in our GI tracks, in our homes, in our relationships, and I love, love, love our topic today. I think there’s so much that we can all benefit from and remind ourselves of as we go into this amazing new year and new decade and really elevate our energy, which of course is our life force.
Kimberly: It’s our happiness, it’s our joyfulness. It’s our experience of life. It’s our wellbeing, it’s our vitality. So I’m really excited about this topic. Before we dive in though, as always, I give my little reminder to please leave us a review on iTunes. It’s, you know, maybe a minute, maybe 90 seconds. You could just make it one sentence. But it’s just the energy. It’s the thought of it. It’s the love that that provides, which is really helping other beauties find the show. So thank you so much for doing that.

That way you don’t get caught up in the swirl of life and miss any of these Q and A podcasts or our interview podcasts. We’ve been getting such kick ass amazing guests on, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dan Buettner, some of my favorites we’ve had lately and it just continues to expand and they have so much amazing information to share with us. So please don’t miss out. Please make sure you subscribe and it’s just a great way to keep it coming. So that being said, we have our Katelyn waiting on the line for us all the way on the East coast. She is our general manager of Solluna. She is an amazing, amazing earth mama. We call her on the team spirit anchor love. One of the loves of my life. Hi Kay. [crosstalk 00:02:41]
Katelyn: That introduction has me blushing. Well, thank you. I am still on high vibes from the new year.
Kimberly: Yay.
Katelyn: I love to reset and I still do this tradition that Kay showed me about five years ago where I write intentions for each area of my life and then I put it on the window.
Kimberly: Oh yes, the moonlight.
Katelyn: So, so it goes out to the Moonlight. So I still have my little papers sitting there that I’m looking at through my window. I haven’t taken it down.
Kimberly: Wait, Kay, were we together one New year’s? Or did I just tell you to do that?
Katelyn: Yes, we were together, I believe it was like five years ago now. And I came and…
Kimberly: Oh my god, that’s crazy.
Katelyn: We went to the self realization fellowship…
Kimberly: Yes.
Katelyn: And meditated into the new year, which actually I have to say, you guys, it’s a great way to start your new year.
Kimberly: Oh yeah. Oh yeah. It’s amazing.
Katelyn: Powerful.
Kimberly: But yeah, I think there’s something, we know we did a vlog about sticking to new year’s resolutions. And I do think there’s something very powerful about writing down your goals. You know, not just resolutions but goals in general and keeping them where you see them. So not necessarily like the words, like you know, you tape it up if it feels private, but just that piece of paper, I keep it on my altar and I see it every day and I know what I wrote. You know, I may not want to share it with everybody, but it’s there and it sort of keeps it energetically in the space. So I think that’s a really beautiful practice. Beauty, if you haven’t written down your goals, just take a couple minutes and do it. And it could really help bring it more and more into this plane of existence. Bring it from the ether into creation. I think it’s powerful.
Katelyn: It totally is powerful. And so many people set unrealistic, you know, quote unquote resolutions. And there’s all of the studies that show most people fail by like the 15th of the month. So it’s like really setting realistic goals or tangible things that you want to apply in your life, and then checking in regularly. Like you said, having that paper to look at and keeping yourself on track versus having it just be a wish that you want to magically happen in your life.
Kimberly: Right, right. Exactly.
Katelyn: So that’s where I think today’s show, we’re going to be talking all about energy and I think that really affects people and their motivation to do things in life. So I think it’ll be a great show to kick off the new year and start 2020 together.
Kimberly: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Question 1: Do you have any suggestions for removing the stagnant energy I feel in my home? I try to sage my house at least once a week, but I still feel there’s some negative energy surrounding me.
Katelyn: So let’s get right in. We have Beth living in Florida. Do you have any suggestions for removing the stagnant energy I feel in my home? I try to sage my house at least once a week, but I still feel there’s some negative energy surrounding me.
Kimberly: Mmm Beth, thank you so much for your question. I think that this is a great question to start us off because our environment where we spend a lot of time or perhaps the most time is very, very much going to affect our mood, our energy, our health. And we want to take a close look at our houses, our house, our home. Even your office space, like wherever you spend a lot of time. And it’s funny sometimes when you do this practice, some of the things that you thought like kind of permanently had to be stacked up against the wall or permanently had to be in a certain place as far as furniture, you realize, ah, it doesn’t have to be there and you can move it. So for instance, in our bedroom, Kay, we had, I mean we just moved into this house a couple months ago, but there was a mirror leaning against this wall in our master and this fan was there and I’m like, we’re not even using the fan.
Kimberly: So we pushed the mirror flat against the far wall and we remove the fan and it was like whoosh. Like the whole energy in the room changed and opened up. So I’m a huge, huge, huge believer in feng shui. I’ve done different workshops and I’ve had different teachers and there’s different schools, but it’s this idea that energy flow in your home affects energy flow in your body. It affects your chi, it affects you. What we surround ourselves with becomes part of us. So the number one, the number one principle, you know Beth and I think it’s great to sage and that’s powerful. But you know, fundamentally we want to remove any clutter that we can. Any of these piles, anything that’s stacked, all the old mail, anything that kind of, you know, kind of piles up on the counters in the kitchen. This is a really great time of year to just try to declutter and give away, throw out as much as you can.
Kimberly: And then the second practice that I like to do is, and this was taught to me by a teacher, you stand in the entrance way of every room of your home and you feel the flow of the energy. So it should feel like unblocked ideally. Like you could swirl around in a circle. And when I moved into this home, I loved it, but then there’s something felt off in the kitchen and I sat there and this, the previous owner had put an island on wheels in the middle of our kitchen. Kay, you’ve been in there.
Katelyn: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Kimberly: So it’s like, it’s like borderline because it’s a pretty open space. But what I did was I wheeled out her island cause it was on wheels and [inaudible 00:08:07], it felt so much better. It was like this big wooden block thing was not needed and it was blocking the energy and I kind of just felt it in my body.
Kimberly: So I also felt, you know, I didn’t, one of the main reasons maybe I didn’t immediately love the living room. She had put the couches, it’s kind of hard to explain, but the backs were facing the windows. They weren’t pushed up against the windows, but it was kind of like blocking all the windows the way she positioned it. So now we have the couches facing the fireplace and when I stand in the room, it just feels like the energy goes around. It doesn’t feel stagnant. So what I would say, Beth, is to really, this is a practice that’s great to do after you meditate, after you have a quiet moment, just trust your intuition. Just go into every room and say, “Hey, this chair actually blocks the light, or it blocks the flow.” I would spend extra attention in your kitchen. You could just say, Hey, you know these old dishes, I don’t feel good eating on them.
Kimberly: Or this was, you know, this reminds me when I used to eat this way or there’s so much more to clean out of my cabinet or out of the crisper. Oh look at these old cans. They’re not even BPA-free, you know, whatever. All this old stuff is just like stagnation is, is a lot of like things that don’t serve us anymore. I love to throw things out. I love it. I love to give things away and there’s a real energy clearing that happens with that release. So I would just systematically go room by room and just see what opens up for you. And intuitively you know what you can shift around and what you can let go of.
Katelyn: Such good advice. I hate when my space is cluttered. I feel really chaotic and all over the place and I’ll have to take… and I’m definitely a type of person, like being artsy, like I stack it.
Kimberly: Yes.
Katelyn: And I have my piles and I have a million pictures everywhere. And then when I take a time to clear out, it’s definitely things come in that flow.
Kimberly: Oh yeah.
Katelyn: So great advice for, especially since it as the start of the new year, and that’s a theme and a lot of people’s lives just to take a reflection and see what you can get rid of.
Kimberly: Hmm.
Katelyn: We challenge you, beauties. We want to hear about it.
Kimberly: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Question 2: With the new year having just started, I really want to remove any bad feelings I have surrounding being hurt by others. Do you have any emotional detox tips you can share with me so I can start my year off positive?
Katelyn: Okay. So let’s see what Wendy living in New Jersey is thinking. With the new year having just started, I really want to remove any bad feelings I have surrounding being hurt by others. Do you have any emotional detox tips you can share with me so I can start my year off positive?
Kimberly: Mmmm. Oh Wendy, thank you so much for your question. This is a big one. I think that we’re all such sensitive beings. We’re so tuned into each other and when we feel hurt, when we feel rejected, when we feel invalidated by others it is a big, it’s a big wound that we tend to carry around and it can affect us. It can affect all our interactions unless we do start to create awareness and take action steps. So I really applaud you for your question. I think it’s great. You can feel energetically it’s time to let go of all that. So I want to take this one. You asked for emotional tips, but I want to take it through the four cornerstones if that’s okay because I think this is a big one that we can approach you know, from a multidimensional standpoint.
Kimberly: The first is food and because so much balance in our life starts in our gut and that includes emotionally, I would say Wendy is, it’s great to really dial in your fiber and your probiotics. These are two of the most powerful things you can do for your gut health. We know that fiber just regulates your microbiome, it feeds the short chain fatty acids, it helps to reduce inflammation in the body. And taking SBO probiotics every day is going to just keep your body fortified and balanced and strong so you can heal from hurt better, so you can feel more emotionally resilient.
Kimberly: And then the other thing I want to bring up, and this is an interesting, I haven’t really talked about this very much here, is some homeopathic remedies. So when I was doing my Ayurveda course and I studied with Dr. Jay for four years, we did have to do an Ayurveda class and my teacher was named Dr. Gary Farr and he was this incredible homeopathic practitioner. It was very interesting. So you know, we just kind of had to take it like an alternative class. It wasn’t part of Ayurveda per se, but it gave a, it was called the bioenergetics and homeopathy.
Kimberly: And one aspect that I became really interested in are Bach flower remedies. And I don’t know if you’ve heard of rescue remedy, which is pretty popular and you get it at most health stores and it’s at Whole Foods and places like that. But there is a whole line of Bach flower remedies for emotional distress and they’re considered very, very safe. They do have a percentage, they have a preservative of alcohol, but really they’re just distilled flowers that are crafted with succussion methods and different homeopathic methods and they’ve been around for a really long time and a lot of people swear by them. So what you can do, Wendy, is you can go check them out. There’s 38 different ones that they correspond to, different emotional disturbances, like feeling rejected or feeling overly critical of yourself or others and you can check them out and see if they work for you. So that’s just another food if you will, kind of crossover between food and body. But that’s something that came into mind as your question came up.
Kimberly: From a body perspective, when we are working on shedding hurt, the first thing that comes to mind for me is letting go of anger, which is very much corresponded to our liver. That’s the organ that’s said to really hold onto a lot of anger and a lot of resentment. And so then the next thing I think of is incorporating daily twists. And you can do the seated. You could do them lying down. I’m not really doing so many right now that I’m pregnant. You do want to be careful if you’re pregnant. But other than that, it’s a great daily practice just to really squeeze out any stagnation, not just physically, but also energetically and emotionally. And you know, just consciously believe and think and breathe and know that you’re letting go of energetic toxicity as you perform your twists.
Kimberly: From an emotional standpoint, this is the big one here. This is letting yourself feel the pain, and this is a funny thing to say, but if we really let ourself feel the hurt, and this is something I resist and resisted, but I’ve experienced very deeply the healingness of it. If we feel that we’ve been hurt, we start to heal from it. But a lot of times we actually project or we’re defensive or we’re angry or we, you know, fight back and it actually keeps us, keeps it inside of us.
Kimberly: And there’s so many different practitioners that talk about this. You know, I forget his name, Michael Singer actually who wrote “The Untethered Soul” talks about it, like thorns that you have to pull out. Dr. David Hawkins talks about this, it’s this idea of feeling the hole to feeling to incorporate back into wholeness. Otherwise we had these parts of us that are really sensitive just like toxins in our body that are rejected by us. They’re not incorporated in the whole and they continue to be triggered. They continue to bring a lot of pain and sadness in us. So I would just say Wendy, you could even journal about this, you can write down what happened and you can let yourself feel the hurt and the pain.
Kimberly: And I have done this myself. I have felt personally hurt by family members, you know, just different people. And I let myself really feel it. Oh they said something that really hurt my feelings. And then underneath that I write truth and wisdom and I kind of coach myself cause we all have truth and wisdom that comes from inside of us. So I say, okay, well you know, this is like our higher, higher self talking. You know, this person probably had a lot of pain themselves or maybe they’re doing their best. You know, love doesn’t go away. Like whatever you want to coach yourself through. But first you have to feel, feel, feel the pain instead of again trying to cover it up or trying to push it out in any way. And that’s been a very powerful practice for me is letting myself feel that deep, deep, deep sadness.
Kimberly: And then spiritually I will just say oneness, feelings of being connected no matter what people do or don’t do is very much connected to this journal exercise because I think truth and wisdom coaching is part of spirituality but also just sitting in meditation, sitting in stillness, which helps to dissolve anger and it helps us let go more.
Kimberly: And so it’s this idea that when we feel light, when we feel good, when we are in meditation, it’s hard to stay angry. And as you said, Wendy, you’re wanting to start year off positive. So the more we can come into a meditative state and then finish with a gratitude practice or sending love to that, those people that hurt you and realize that that’s the most powerful thing you can do. I know it’s not easy all the time, but to sit with that and to know that you’re actually helping you, you know when we have resentment, it diminishes our energy and it depletes us. So the more we can, you know, regularly try to sit and send love, the more benefit will come from that as well.
Katelyn: I’m really glad that you walked everybody through the four cornerstones because a lot of times people want to heal and they don’t know where to go. They don’t know where to start and it’s confusing. So I think it’s a great resource that we have, these four cornerstones for you guys to work through. And again, I just want to remind you, it’s the start of the year. You may be looking for resources to help you over on mysolluna.com we have our four cornerstone guide, which is completely free to you. You just go over there and download it and there’s tons of resources that will build upon everything Kimberly just said now that could really help you through many different areas of your life and it definitely applies to what we’re talking about on today’s show.
Kimberly: Awesome, Kay. Thank you so much for reminding everybody of that. I think it’s important to have resources, like concrete resources for sure.
Katelyn: Yeah. Especially a lot of people are looking for programs or new things to do…
Kimberly: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Katelyn: And this is something that is completely free to you and you can just take it at your own pace and start your year off feeling amazing.
Kimberly: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Yay.
Katelyn: So we recommend you doing that on the break because they’re about to take one here and then…
Kimberly: Yes.
Break
Katelyn: We’ll be back and she’ll answer the last two questions.
Kimberly: All right, beauties, we are back from our break. We have two more questions for you guys about “Your Energy: Out with the Old and In with the New.” It’s such a great way, such a great time to think about energy across your whole life from your home, to your relationships, your relationship with yourself to health. So I can’t wait to hear what else the beauties have asked us, Kay.
Question 3: My boss is really hard to work for and I’m not the only one who feels this way. They expect unrealistic goals to be met constantly and are never satisfied. Is there any advice you can give me on how to remove these old patterns and move to more realistic goals that bring about more positive intention?
Katelyn: Yes. This next one I think a lot of people can relate to in the workplace. This one is from Theresa in Georgia. My boss is really hard to work for and I’m not the only one who feels this way. They expect unrealistic goals to be met constantly and are never satisfied. Is there any advice you can give me on how to remove these old patterns and move to more realistic goals that bring about more positive intention?
Kimberly: Hamm. Theresa, this is a, this is a beautiful question. I thank you for highlighting the idea of relationships in our life, which some are chosen, some are, you know…
Katelyn: Not.
Kimberly: Some are not. I mean sometimes we fall into a job or a situation. Obviously we can’t choose who’s in our family and you know, the family we’re born into and our extended family. So sometimes these are the greatest lessons, you know, we can get the greatest lessons, the greatest growth from these people that have been put into our life. And sometimes though we get to the point where we’ve learned the lessons and we may realize that it’s time to move on. And so the first thing I would say is that I wouldn’t say we have to go that route yet Theresa, but I think that honest communication is really important here. It sounds like if somebody is constantly unrealistic and never satisfied, that’s actually how they probably most definitely are with themselves. Because how we treat other people and our work situation and our friends and family is how we’ve talked to ourself and I’ll say, Kay, even on our team, you know, you’ve been with me now for like, what, six years?
Katelyn: Mm-hmm (affirmative). Yeah.
Kimberly: So even at six years, Kay, you’ve grown a lot. I’ve grown a lot. I’ve done a lot of work on healing my perfectionism and my constant like overachieving in that period. And you know, there were times where I had very unrealistic goals for our team. I’m like I want to launch all these projects, I want to do them all at once. And that’s not, you know, that doesn’t serve anybody. But that’s how I was with myself, Kay.
Katelyn: Right.
Kimberly: You know what I mean. So the only way, well I’d like to get your perspective, Kay. Like to me the way it got better is I had to do the self-work and I think I was opened to listening and then you had some honest conversations with me.
Katelyn: Yeah, I agree. I think having honest conversations because I think I, again, me too, I’m a perfectionist and I’m very hard on myself and I have really high standards in everything I’m doing. And just having a conversation with, with somebody, I think we talked a lot about well this is what it takes to get it done and these are the resources we would need. And just kind of creating transparency for the person that you’re doing products for or working with really helps them. And then if you’ve had that conversation and they’re still not understanding, then there’s only so much you can do. But I think a lot of times people just maybe get frustrated and don’t say anything where you can really…
Kimberly: Yes.
Katelyn: Have a lot happen. Most people are reasonable at heart and they’re just dealing with whatever they’re dealing with. So if you tell them, “Hey look, I’d love to accomplish whatever you want, I support you, but these are the things I either need to make it happen, or the timeline need to change. Or this is why it didn’t happen.” Most people are understanding. I think it’s just when there isn’t that communication and then the expectation and the reality are so far apart that it creates tension in the workplace for people.
Kimberly: Yes.
Katelyn: So I, I agree. I think that that’s… You know, and obviously sometimes, you know, we have a different relationship. Sometimes certain corporations don’t allow that type of flexibility, but if you are able to talk to even your direct superior, whatever type of job you have, Theresa, and just start some type of communication flow of what’s happening, I think that can help too.
Kimberly: Yeah. And I also think that, you know, you talked about realistic goals with a positive intention. So I think if you were to prepare your version with love and positivity, put into it of, you know, here’s what a plan that feels good to me is, and keep it non emotional, but just say, “Hey, you know, it can feel really disheartening if we’re working… I’m working really hard and I can never make your goals. I’ve thought about it and I’m going to work really hard, but this feels more realistic to me. You know, what do you think? Because otherwise I just feel like I’m doing all this work and I can never make you happy.”
Katelyn: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Kimberly: “But I came up with this alternative plan and I wanted to talk about it with you.” Then it’s very proactive. It’s not just complaining or saying like, you know, they may perceive as complaining or like, you know, not working hard enough in that conversation. You’ve eliminated those two things. You’re willing to work, you are hard worker, you’re amazing at what you do and you’re reinforcing that. But number two, you have a solution. You’re bringing forward a solution and you have an alternative idea, which is concrete.
Kimberly: Again, it goes back to writing down your goals, like you know, for your dreams and your new year’s resolutions. I think when we offer an alternative to a boss or superior, they have to listen cause you’ve given them something to look at. So that feels really good, hopefully to everybody.
Kimberly: And then lastly, Theresa, I will say that you are such a beautiful spirit. You’re a unique spirit, your time on earth is precious. And if you’re feeling after doing all that you can and having these conversations that you know you’re, you’re shrouded in negativity by everyone around you and it’s affecting your quality of life. This may be the year they say, this is the year of perfect vision, 2020. This may be the year that you do want to move on to a more positive space. You know, only you know that answer. I wouldn’t second guess yourself if that’s what your intuition says. I wouldn’t try to limit yourself. I would just, you know, feel what’s in your heart and if that’s the way, don’t be scared. There’s limitless possibilities out there. You can just make a plan, take baby steps and go forward. But either way set the intention that this is going to be a much more positive space for you and you are going to create it no matter what.
Katelyn: 100%. At the end of the day, you know, we’re controlling our actions and the path we take in our life and that’s something with my perfectionism, I take comfort in…
Kimberly: Yeah.
Katelyn: And in the past I’ve learned to take action, right. In my previous, before I started working here with Kimberly, the water cooler talk, right? Like you know you’re sitting and you have the banter and you’re bitching about things like really can become a damper….
Kimberly: Oh yes.
Katelyn: Opposed to taking….
Kimberly: So negative.
Katelyn: Action. Of course like everybody has to vent sometimes, but it would become to a level of if you’re feeling really negative about a situation and you haven’t done anything to try to change it…
Kimberly: Yeah.
Katelyn: Then that’s where, you know, like we just talked about, you can take this ownership and try and then once you’ve exhausted all your options, then you might just have to say, hey like Kimberly mentioned this just isn’t working. This isn’t the right path for me. But I think the work talk is good to touch upon today because obviously majority of people spend most of their life at work and you really want to have a positive space.
Kimberly: For sure. For sure. Exactly.
Question 4: How often do you overhaul your closet? This may sound like a silly question, but do you think that our clothing can have a negative impact on our wellbeing? My family thinks I’m being ungrateful and wasteful. Any advice on how to be balanced and turn my family into accepting my new ideas and the concepts around this?
Katelyn: Okay, one more here to dig into before we go, we have Bethany living in Massachusetts. How often do you overhaul your closet? This may sound like a silly question, but do you think that our clothing can have a negative impact on our wellbeing? My family thinks I’m being ungrateful and wasteful. Any advice on how to be balanced and turn my family into accepting my new ideas and the concepts around this?
Kimberly: Bethany, thank you so much for your question and I just want to applaud you for going with your gut, going with your wisdom. You are so wise. You are asking this question because I know you already know the answer, which is that everything affects our wellbeing. You guys, every thing, everything around us, our homes, our stuff, our choices, our relationships, our food. Well, our state of wellbeing is our energy and energy is everything. Energy is even, there isn’t one thing that isn’t energy and isn’t part of this matrix, this soup that we’re part of. This is what quantum physics teaches us.
Kimberly: So absolutely overhauling your closet is crucial and I do it all the time. I did a huge overhaul, Bethany, when I moved into this house and I gave so much away and it felt great. I feel much better if in my closet, and this is like, how you dress and how you approach things are how you are in life, right? So for me, I, it says to me, I only am going to keep around the best things that I love the most. I deserve to wear clothes that I feel great in and I love and I’m not going to settle for subpar. I’m not going to settle for these outfits that don’t feel comfortable to me or that you know, I used to like, or maybe I got on sale, but I didn’t love. I deserve to feel great every day. And that is an energetic message that runs through your life. It starts to affect the way you eat. I think it’s saying, oh, you know, I deserve the best quality ingredients and I’m going to put the best quality food in my body. I deserve to be in the best relationships.
Kimberly: And either you know, friends and my significant other support me and I feel great or I’m going to move away from those relationships. So I 100% back you up Bethany. Your clothes, your space, your surroundings, the way you decorate your home, all the crap that you throw out, like it all affects you. And this is not a newer idea, maybe new to other people, but this idea of feng shui or what’s called in Ayurvedic, rasashastra. There is an aspect of Ayurvedic medicine, which is basically feng shui but from the Indian perspective, and it does talk about this idea of how powerful energy is.
Kimberly: So I think right now it’s a great time for you, Bethany, all our beauties to go through your closet, give away as much as you can, lighten your load, lighten the energy and then you go in. You know, it’s so funny that that picture that I’ve seen, I think it was in Time magazine, maybe you’ve seen it too, where it was a picture of Mark Zuckerberg closet and it was the same gray tee shirt, pants outfit like 15 times. And he says, “I don’t want to spend too much of my brain power deciding what to wear”.
Kimberly: And that’s funny because especially as us women, we’re like, eh, we’re not going to wear a uniform every day. But I will say if you get rid of all the stuff that you don’t really love, all you see in your closet are like the all star items, which means you’re going to wear what makes you feel good every day. You’re going to feel good in your body. And again, I think that really does influence our food choices. We may tend to eat healthier and feel better in our bodies. And so absolutely I think closet clean outs are A-plus
Katelyn: A-plus-plus. And speaking of wastefulness, as Kimberly mentioned, you can give it away, you know, Goodwill.
Kimberly: Yeah.
Katelyn: I know for me I always would feel guilty if I had clothes that were still in good shape, but I’m like I don’t want to throw them out. So you know, I always try to donate and then that would make me feel good that I know that my stuff is going to somebody who’s in need. So that’s something that could combat that area of your question too, Bethany.
Kimberly: Yeah, exactly. Like you’re recycling, you’re putting it to others that may need it. Like that’s a beautiful thing to do.
Katelyn: Yeah, it feels so good. They have like these big bins by the Target, by my house. And I always just love going and like dropping the stuff in there and then I know it’s going to a good place versus like when you throw something out it just feels like, oh that was a waste of money or I didn’t get the full use of that. So that’s just a good recycling message heading into 2020.
Kimberly: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Katelyn: Well, heading in, we are so used to saying heading in and now that we’re here, so…
Kimberly: We are here.
Katelyn: We have arrived.
Kimberly: We are here.
Thought of the Week
Katelyn: So to wrap up our first show of the year, we would love to hear what you’re pondering on for your thought of the week, Kay.
Kimberly: So I have been taking a pretty deep dive, I would say over the last 18 months, two years into quantum physics, which is just is a personal passion of mine. And this whole show and our whole conversation is really about energy and how everything is so interconnected, which is why I do passionately love talking about our four cornerstones. But my quote today is, I’m bringing it from a scientific perspective, which is from Erwin Schrodinger who was a very well respected physicist. And his quote is “Quantum physics thus reveals a basic oneness of the universe.” So what I love about this is we think about oneness. There’s no outside of oneness. So this means that clothes in the closet, and you know the first question we had about your home and staging, there’s nothing that doesn’t affect wellness. Everything is energy. We all affect each other. It’s one giant soup. It’s one sea of everything.
Kimberly: So that means this is a scientific backing to the idea of oneness, which may often be viewed in a spiritual context, but there is scientific backing for this. We see that quantum physics largely disproved so much of the Newtonian physics which rely on ideas about separation and you know, disconnection. But actually if everything’s one, then everything is going to affect our energy. And it means if there’s socks that make you really, really happy and feel good when you put them on, on some level, that’s going to affect your wellness. And if you can really connect with friends and have a giggly conversation, hey, that’s healthy, that’s great for your nervous system. In some ways that’s just as healthy as eating a carrot, right? We can’t just boil down, no, this is wellness and this isn’t. This is just diet and exercise and everything doesn’t affect you. Everything affects everything else.
Kimberly: So guys, I want to leave you with that idea is that, you know, as we start the year, look around you, look at your life, let go of anything that doesn’t feel good to you. Go through your social media accounts, clean out all the people you follow that don’t feel good anymore, let it go. Clean out your sock, drawer, your underwear drawer, clean out your kitchen, take stock. And then also notice what you become more and more attracted to certain fields, certain kinds of books, certain people and pull more of that light in. And then you know, you have such a, you are the power of creating your own reality. So when the more we realize that and the more we realize how profoundly everything is impacted by everything else, I think we just come into a much more empowered position.
Katelyn: Beautiful. Such a nice way to round out the show. We’ve talked about a lot today. I’m sure lots on your mind, beauty, so if you’re thinking of another question or another topic, as always, I just want to plug where you go. Head over to mysolluna.com/askkimberly and there’s a form there. Please keep sending in your questions. We’re looking at all of them. That’s how we decide the direction of the show. So what you have to say is really important to us. We really care about what you have to say.
Kimberly: Awesome. Kay, thank you so much for gathering the questions. I loved their topic today. Thank you so much, beauties, for tuning in. We are, speaking of quantum physics, we are completely connected. This is not, this never feels to me like a one way conversation. I feel like we’re here. You’re listening to this and some weird way through cyberspace, we are connected. I can feel your energy. You can feel mine.
Kimberly: We’re here to support each other. We’re here on this journey. You know, this crazy, beautiful, chaotic, insanely unpredictable, amazing life. We’re just here for each other. So I really appreciate you being part of our community. I look forward to our new exciting year ahead. Please stay connected. As I mentioned earlier, a great thing to do is just subscribe to our podcast, which is free. It’s a great thing to do for yourself, and I also think it’s a great thing to build community. So please share the podcast with anyone you think might benefit. You could send it out to friends and family. That way you guys could talk about these topics as well, which I think is also really beautiful. So thank you again so much for tuning in. I wish you all the best. We will be back here Monday for our next Q and A podcast until then, take care and so much love.
